Hi all,

E-mail from Gamestop's Skylanders Adventure Club today, citing a TBD-in-store January date for another Skylanders event:

"There's another big Skylanders event coming in early January, with the new Skylanders® Minis available! Stay tuned for exact dates and more info."

Let the speculation begin. My guess is they will be the unclaimed Giants sidekicks.

Hopefully excess Quickdraws make a future date...hey, one can wish

Sweet i think ill get the Giants sidekicks, i like them better than the spyros adventure sidekicks in my opinion.

Hmph, maybe Jade Fire Kraken might be available? To celebrate the new year?

Hopefully this time they won't call it a "festival" when it's really just a sale.

Hopefully also they'll have the items in-stock for the "event", and they'll actually inform their employees about the details of the event beforehand.

Perhaps that is wishing too much from GameStop, though.

They should purchase some of the Spyro's Adventure re-stock. They could make a lot of money if they had a sale on them, especially if they get Wham Shell and Darklight Crypt.

Hmmm...the word new and minis are specific terms I'm keying off of. I hope this isn't just an event to dump previous stock. Like Bahamut...my expectations are low on this.

That implies they have different ones coming, maybe for Swap Force. Is there a picture with this email?

I was going to get a battlegrounds pack and a dark pack this week but I guess I'm waiting til January. Even if they are giants sidekicks it won't bother me since I don't have any of the sidekicks.

Last year for each 29.99 you spent you would get 1 sidekick and you were limited to getting 4 at a time. It may or may not be like that during this promotion.

It was web domain names, not registered trademarks IIRC. Nano Force is the one you were thinking of.

I got a call from my gamestop yesterday about a new shipment of skylanders. I asked the manager about this promo and she advised she already had them. The ones she had were whisper elf, terrabite, gill runt, and trigger snappy. I was given one mini per regular core figure bought, not sure if this is the new promo or just left over stock from the one before.

It was 15$ or more U.S. currency last time (aka one Giant or 2 cores for 1 sidekick)

I think you were both right. At one point it was 29.99 and one point on their epic fail of Festival day with the polar whirlwind release it was one character and then they changed it the day of the event to an actual Giant. Which a lot of stores did not have them.

I'm wondering if it's a regional thing. I never got this email, and I asked about it at my local GameStop today; they've never heard anything about it.

I don't believe so. I know you have to be a "Power UP Reward Pro" active member to get the email. My local store does not know about it either, or at least until I told them...

I am an active Pro member. I joined last month when I traded in my old Xbox 360 stuff -- the 10% increase was more than the cost of the membership. I also joined the Skylanders Adventure Club last week.

I got the email. Really doesn't saying anything too revealing. I am assuming these are the Giants sidekicks and I'm guessing that the "new Skylanders" they are advertising will be wave 3. I think if it was going to be a Gamestop exclusive, they would have mentioned that.

They might be first to get the LightCores, Sheep Wreck Island, and the Arkeyan Crossbow.

Yea that would be my guess too. Since the cores are exclusive to TRU and swapper to Target. I'm thinking the "minis" will probably be just all the left-over stock of giants sidekicks (it looks like the old ssa ones that some stores have are just left over from the last sale).

Just went to Gamestop today and you could get a ssa sidekick for each 20 dollars in swap force purchase. But they only had Terrabite and Whisper Elf. It looks like some stores have some back stock so they are just doing it as a promo to get rid of them.

No, you wouldn't be able to. All items need to be returned, unless you somehow find an employee nice enough to let you keep it.

Yeah fun fact for you, it's because stuff like that we're requiring all returns for electronics stuff to have a receipt.

And don't give me "they can afford it" as a response we have enough fun getting rid of our own inventory sometimes thank you very much.

That still doesn't help when most stores have the same item number for all skylanders.

Mine came to my Spam folder. I understand what you mean though, sometimes I don't get the Hot Toy Alerts from TRU.

I might go to this just to see if they have the LightCores and the Adventure/Battle packs. If they don't, I'll be very disappointed.
