I know, simply saying they need to answer the question so we can move on from this. If however folks from within their company are selling prototypes and/or chase variants under false pretense they need to get that figured out asap as that would cause a serious dent in their integrity. It would make the custom figure copy-catting we saw in previous weeks look like child's play.

So true. I remember when Dan Amrich (OneofSwords, the Activision community manager) posted here not long ago with some hi res Skylander images and the first couple of replies were to tell him that he was advertising and breaking board rules. As far as I can see he never came back which is a real shame.

Frankly, this community just isn't too welcoming to new folks. Even more so if the new person happens to break some kind of unwritten rule that sets off someone else who can't figure out how to use the report button.

"Fake until proven otherwise" is how it works even if the figure looked legit from the start.

Here's the thing though - is there some kind of secret prize for being the first person to claim that an item is fake (with absolutely no proof or evidence)? Does Santa put extra Skylanders in one's stocking for jumping at the chance to talk down and be condescending to new posters for no other reason than the new poster knows something that they don't?

Why the rush to judgement? It helps no one and, in the fashion it is too often done here, actually hurts the community when new members are ran off by people being complete jerks because, simply, the jerks don't know what they are talking about.

Not a way of living life, we are speaking of Skylanders here. Even though I don't think this is a commun thing to post fake variants on this forum, it's just a matter of not being naive and believe everything people post. I understand the annoyance of people rushing to deny the legitimity of something (note that I didn't post in this Red Camo thread, I was waiting for confirmation of his legitimity) though.

This reminds me of this thread //forum.darkspyro.net/spyro/vi...ic=89072&page=1, where the OP seemed to act like he was seeking attention. The proof was finally posted by someone else than the OP on Page 2. You can't blame people for being doubtful in this case.

Still doubtful here because why take him out of the box to play him just like crystal whirlwind maybe they are working prototypes. I mean you can play them while on the box.

I'm not saying you have to believe everything that's posted. I sure don't.

The issue is the common theme of A.) Someone new posts something B.) Some jerk with a chip on his shoulder blasts the guy, calling his info fake, calling him a scammer, calling him a troll account, etc., etc. C.) Guy's info ends up being real but now he never comes back because of the way he was treated.

It's disruptive to the forum and breeds bad habits.

Want to be doubtful? Fine - it's completely understandable. Just don't be a jerk about it (not *you*, newkill - as you pointed out, you hadn't even posted on the subject.)

Actually, Santa does give out free special Skylanders for debunking fake variants on the forums. It's true because I said so. Don't be mean and tell me isn't true because that isn't nice and people might go off pouting and not come back because random Internet people didn't believe hearsay without a shred of evidence. Waaaaah.

Sorry, don't really have a previous stake or comment in this, but in general I think the Internet could do with a lot less OCD touchy people that have to have their feelings stroked every chance else they might wilt away like a delicate flower. If having your rumor without proof questioned since you lack any sort of reputation causes you to run away, don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out. As has been pointed out, it's just toys and if it indeed factual information it will surface elsewhere.

There's a world of difference between "wanting to have your feelings stroked" and not wanting to have people be a complete and total **** to you simply because you have information that they don't and the idea of that gives you some kind of inferiority complex.

I mean, seriously... I need to start collecting screenshots of the crap that keeps getting slung around at new posters who haven't done a single thing wrong except not bow down and worship the right people.
