Just got an email from Toys "R" Us saying at the newest skylanders or wave 3 are going to be available tonight at midnight

Yeah, in the ad they only show smolderdash, prism break and dune bug. Not sure what they'll have beyond those.

To be perfectly clear: Thorn Horn Camo and Stink Bomb won't be available at Toys R Us at midnight tonight.

However, Phantom Cynder, Dune Bug, Smolderdash, Hyper Beam Prism Break, and Horn Blast Whirlwind will be available.

There are only 1 Prism Break and 1 Whirlwind per box/case of 12, so if you're interested in those, you'll want to be there when they start selling/stocking.

So wait let me get this straight there are no swappers in this wave?

The swappers are still in this wave, but they release at target on the 29th. It's a split release and we STILL don't know when sheep wreck, arkeyan crossbow, and the lightcores will be out.

Yeah, I just got back from my TRU, and for some reason they only had Dune Bug, Smolderdash, and Cynder. No Whirlwind or Prism Break. The staff that was there seemed pretty overwhelmed and tired out, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were just in another box that got overlooked. I'm going to go back and double-check in the morning when there's a new shift of employees.

Every box that came to Toys R Us, should be the same basic box of -

I literally watched an employee open 10-15 boxes of all the same thing out on the floor, putting them on the hooks.

Wow those Dune Bugs are going to go quick. Mine only got 3 cases and I got two (Dune Bugs not cases). I also scored a Whirl Wind and Cynder for my daughter...they are some of her favs. No light cores, three packs or chase variants. I was almost tempted to get Prism Break but I'm not all that impresses with his Wow Pow this time around. Good luck you guys. If you were planning on going to TRU, go tonight. I don't think there will be much left in the morning, at least for some locations.

Only the core singlepacks were ever confirmed for release today and out of those figures you listed only the 3 SWAPpers have a confirmed release date (12/29 @ Target). The triple packs and lightcores currently do not have a US release date.

I'm sad. The nearest toys r us is more than an hour away from my house.

Just as an FYI for anyone who's not sure about what to expect on the shelves at Toys R Us right now ....

Each shipment ("wave") of Skylanders arrives at the store in a pre-determined assortment of characters.
This particular new "wave" that started selling at Toys R Us just recently has only ONE Hyper Beam Prism Break and only ONE Horn Blast Whirlwind in each box/case of 12.

Naturally, those will be the ones that get sold out the fastest.
Dune Bug will also undoubtedly be popular, but at least there are THREE of those per box/case of 12.

There's TWO Phantom Cynder in each box/case of 12.

Smolderdash, Zoo Lou, and Countdown round out each case.

Another user here just recent discovered that the above characters are also available at Toys R Us .com right now. They may not last long, again especially Prism Break and Whirlwind.

Stink Bomb, Rubble Rouser, Spy Rise, Wind Up, Lightcore Wham-Shell, Lightcore Countdown, and the Battle Pack with Thorn Horn Camo in it are NOT available (yet) in US stores.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Also I thought it was weird that when I was in the store the day before, someone told me they had several boxes. Then at midnight they only had the one... odd...

It turns out that what got sold was just a few figures some poor employee set aside for themselves to buy after the street date. There was actually about 8 or more boxes of figures that the midnight staff was too blind to find. I managed to go in the next morning and get the remaining stuff I needed, and saw that the shelves were filled with every Wave 3 core, so at least they got their stuff straightened out eventually.

I ended up getting cynder just cause i love the new look of her it's variant-looking like in a way. Whirlwind and Prism i got becaue i knew they were 1 per a box and figured id score them in case i decide to keep them.

Has anyone seen the new TRU commercial, they say to come get the new Swap Force before Christmas, and it shows Dune Bug and the new swappers from Wave 3.

Agreed here. It was like the move last year when they showed Thumpback in Wave 3 coming days before 2012 Christmas. They will mislead and cause folks to enter the store and leave angry and/or disappointed.

It's sad that some advertising companies aren't even given the scoop on the exact release dates.

However I did manage to help this one senior citizen pick out some skylanders for her 5 y/o grandson and his dad. (Who according to her as "a LOT" of figures) and she was kind of to even buy me a single skylander since I was so helpful.


I got Legendary Lightcore Chill for free and also earlier this week I got a free Legendary Grim Creeper from SM.


P.S. I told her to tell her grandson and his dad about darkspyroforums.com (Should have said .net but entering .com still work) so if we get a new member here then you know who to thank <3

Yeah that happens to me so often, not the free skylander, but helping out some elderly person find skylanders for her children or grandchildren. Last time I had that experience was during Wave 2, I had to help some lady find the "new" skylanders and pointed her to Boom Jet, Night Shift, and Grilla Drilla.

Have you tried Target yet? A lot of people here, including me, have already gotten the new Wave 3 Swappers at Target today. They are putting them out early and there's no street date block.

Really? i guess i missd out on a lot. i havent really got a chance to check it out yet. and last time i went there (the 19th), they only had scorp, tower `o time, LC warnado, LC Hex, Riptide, and other wave 2 nonsence. And who gets themselves gifts right after christmas?!

So, my Target has already sold out of all Wave 3 swappers...was able to nab a Stink Bomb.

This is going to be an epic fail for Target when folks see the ad and can't buy them on Sunday.

It's going to be no different than any number of other times they and other stores have advertised stuff that they then "couldn't find" or "didn't get in". A few people will ask and get mad, swear off shopping there again and then will quickly forget their vow. I can't count the number of times I've been at a store looking for Skylanders that they should have had but did not. At least these aren't some rare variant.

Sure, being in an ad will mean more people will be upset, but it's their own fault for not street dating these in the register (is the UPC different?). When you pay employees as little as possible you get as little effort as possible. You want enthusiastic employees anxious to read internal memos and keep the right stock out at all times, then the words "minimum wage" should be not be something that you flirt with.

I'd kill for today's minimum wage in 1991. I got paid less with a 2 year degree then than some people do now at min wage. I know that sounds like the "when I was your age" commentary but just to flavor the perspective.

Sure, I would too. It was $3.35 when I was a teenager. Minimum wage is fine if you live at home, have parents pay the bills and for food. But, the vast majority of retail employees making at or close to that have to support themselves. That's roughly $15k a year, if you are lucky enough to be given a full time schedule. Imagine supporting just yourself off of that, let alone a family. It's been a pretty well covered secret that the vast majority of people on government assistance are actually working these jobs. It's easy to think it's all "welfare queens", but it isn't - Walmart employees alone represent a significant number of people on the welfare rolls. And you and I are making up for Walmart's lack of paying people a living wage with our taxes, and as a result making the Walton family ever richer.

So, while I hate to miss out on a figure that might be put out early, it's really hard to be upset at the guy making poverty level wages for not keeping track of all the street dates and shipment schedules for our luxuries.

I could barely support myself at $8/hr in 1991 by myself...and I also made life decisions to ensure I didn't "bite off more than I can chew" before moving forward. To that end, people have to be responsible.

On the other end, I know it's tough in retail...and unlike when I grew up you can have all of the training, certification, credentials, education in the world and it doesn't guarantee anything. It's important to keep the fire burnings though, as life liberty and pursuit of happiness doesn't guarantee stress free living.
