I have no idea beyond server problems with either your ISP or Activision

Hopefully someone will come along that can help.

How long has it been happening?

Are your islands VERY full? I have had that happen when I have left many spawns and run out of room and multiple spawns are on the same spot. As soon as I clear a sheep for example a totem will immediately spawn in the same spot. Clear a few and the problem stops. This has happened on both iOS and Android.

You suspect it had been freezing every two seconds previously but you hadn't noticed it?

Mine was doing that one day. It was a pain. You could only do an action in between the freeze ups. It eventually cleared up, but not really sure why. It could be memory usage on the device. That's what I took it as, anyway. I'm not really sure that your ISP would have anything to do with it since it's a video freeze up and has nothing to do with connecting to the internet.
