So I am new to the game. Just over a week ago I started playing. I have a few questions.
1. What is the "Average" amount of stones most people find they needed to get the Grand Prize? Or how full was their luck bar? Right now I am about 1/4 to the last "increase in luck" line. So the entire bar is about 60-65% full.
Also, I have only gotten 1 thing worth any value. A "tavern". Nothing great. Is that pretty normal to fill the bar past half and not get a shrine or anything good?
2. Does anyone know how long each event "mob" lasts? I mean how long do sheep, troll, bats, and totems last? Totems from what I have seen last around 5 minutes and if you break 1 cube it extends it by another 5 minutes or so. Trolls/Sheep seem to last forever? And then bats DO disappear, but seem to last longer than totems.
3. Lastly what do Wizard Trolls do or give? Contemplating unlocking that companion.
Any confirmation would be great, thanks!

1. You probably won't spend more than 200 stones to win the Alter Ego. Top Prizes seem to have gotten rarer recently but it's all just luck. The Luck Meter does not affect winning Top Prizes.
2. Sheep and trolls stick around but you can only have 10 of each spawned at a time. Bats last around 10 minutes or so? I just keep some SWAP Force characters in reserve to hit them as soon as I see them. 3. They pay out more Gold and have the chance to drop a Wishin' Stone or Gem but it's rare. Depending on your Kingdom level there's probably a better use for your Gold. |

Thanks!
I'm Kingdom level 17. So far I have unlocked Magic, Earth and Undead. And Fire is currently unlocking. I saw someone say they got a 75% off SF/Sidekick deal, so I am hoping I get lucky and get that soon. I won't be spending any more money on the game. $15 is enough ! So I could potentially get 4 more skylanders with my 300 gems. |

1. To add to that, 176 stones max your luck meter. Also, for taverns and fisheries I think 1 every 100-200 stones is what I've been getting. B&Bs (when you get to level 36 I think) have been every 400-500 stones. I've managed 2 shrines from the well with about 6000 stones before I maxed out with three of each.
3. I agree - you don't really make back the cost for a long time. Another side effect is that you only get two wizard trolls instead of three, so it can make the quests for catching X number of trolls tougher to complete. |

Wow, 176 is max huh. I guess I haven't used as many stones as I thought I have!
Looks like I might not get Snowler Brawl this time around as once these snowmen go away (when is that?) I'll likely only get 2-3 stones a day between MaBoo and Totems. Totems seem to always appear when my skylanders are on adventures! And since I don't have figurines I only have 13 Skylanders, so it's not easy to get the totems. |

Is 176 stones the last luck meter line or max? I know I've out over 200 in before and not max the meter. It's always good to save up, at least, 200 stones a month to get the next months alter ego. It's usually better to try and save up all month and try for the next month. After that, you have an entire month to save up again. Now they you've already thrown in enough to get you where you are, don't give up. There are still almost 3 weeks left in the months. You have plenty of time.
As for top prizes, it's pretty random. I've only gotten a shrine out of the well once except for last month's well glitch when I was throwing in lots of stones and continually resetting the meter. I know some people don't think it affects the top prizes, but it does seem you have better chances before you get the alter ego. After I hit 37, I was getting a B&B almost every run up (which was a lot with the glitch), so every 600 stones seems to be exaggerated. Although many believe they changed the odds this month. I know I didn't get much this time around. But I also didn't get as high as I normally do. |

I understand that. What I meant was, if 176 or so maxes the meter, then I am just over halfway. However a lot of my stones came from the snowmen (8+ a day in some cases, plus I bought the gem offer that came with 30). After they are gone, I might get 2-4 stones a day, which would likely not max out the meter for me to increase my chances further. I won't be giving up, but it doesn't look great for me to get her is all I'm saying. |

I almost always max out the luck meter before I get the grand prize. I've only gotten 1 shrine out of the well, though I have gotten numerous taverns cocoa stands and fisheries. Recently have started getting b&bs.

Thanks for the info guys ! To clarify, does actually maxing the meter increase your chances one last time, or the last line is the last increase?
Also, do more trolls/sheeps/bats/totems etc appear the more land you have? I really want to try and maximize my wish stones, so was *thinking* about getting the troll wizard companion with gold if they can drop them. But if more totems and snowmen appear with the more land I have, I would rather use the money to expand. Lastly, is there a way to check to see if you missed a particular deal? I hear people mentioning "time travel". Either that's something you get later on, or are people setting their clocks back? Does it allow you to get the deals at that time or something? My luck I already got the 75% off swap force and sidekick deal because I didn't even realize it was there! Thanks again for answering! |

I am pretty sure the meter keeps building past that last line. That's why I'm confused by people saying it maxes out at 196. I know I've put over 200 stones and I'm pretty sure it kept moving up, although very slightly.
As for spawns, you will need land for them, but you're still limited. There's a max of 10 per sheep/trolls and usually a max of 2 totems (though, recently, there seems to be a third one block that might appear). The only thing that gives you more totems is Cherry (which is pretty expensive). I'm not sure if there's a max of snowmen (or what it is). And we're not sure how long it will last. They said it was a Super Tuesday thing, but they are still spawning. So who knows? The best way to max wish stones is to get shrines, if you have the gems. They usually go on sale for 50% off (even recently as much as 100 gems). Does the troll wizard companion (forget who it is) cost gold or gems (I forget, it's been so long)? That may make a difference. To do "time travel", you just change the clock on your device. It can be a bit tricky, and there are rules you need to follow to not mess up your game. And you need to put your device in airplane mode before doing it as the game will detect that your time is off and not let you in. The main thing to know is to not collect when you time travel, only when you are in the present. Also don't time travel ahead past any timed quests or you will lose them. You'll also want a sidekick handy as when you travel, you will suddenly have a bunch of spawns of bats, chompy pods, sheep, trolls, and even totems. The chompies will tear up your islands if you don't have a sidekick to take them out. Knowing that, it's also a great way of building up wish stones and gems (through bats), but that's up to you if you want to take the chance. I don't normally do it, though. |

Thanks! Well, too late for that haha. I am at about 65% full. Brock who spawns the Wizard Trolls is 500,000 gold. I can either do that or expand another island. If I expanded instead I would have all but Tech, Air and Life open. What seem to be the chances to get wish stones from the wizards when they do spawn? Oddly enough, I only get *maybe* 2-3 troll camps a day, and I am on a lot since I work at home. I usually run 30minute adventures constantly. Not sure if that's low or what! So here are ways I know to get wish stones ; 1. Totems (I seem to get 4-5 a day, but usually can only get 1-2 finished due to not having a lot of skylanders and always doing adventures). I have at least one for each element, right now I have 15 total. 2. Snowmen - Getting around 4-8 a day. 3. MaBoo - I see him once a day on my island and sometimes on Auras 4. Wizard Trolls - No idea what % they appear or % drop wish stones. 5. Shrines - You only get 1 wish stone if it's the right element, not worth the gem cost right now for me. I'd get more buying extra skylanders to make sure I get more totems. 6. Gurglefin - 400 Kudos, I have no friends yet (haven't bothered to make an account) so this is a lot of Kudos, won't get him in time. Is that it in regards to wish stones, other than getting an offer for buying gems and wish stones coming with it? Thanks again for the info. 19 days is a long time, and if these snowmen keep appearing I might make it ! |

Hard to add much to this thread (but I will try!), other than that taverns are an awesome prize and you should be thrilled to get them. They generate a ton of kingdom xp and take up only 2x2 squares (meaning they are compact). They are one of the best things in the well. They will help you level up faster, which is a very desirable thing in my mind.
I now generate over 1,000 wish stones per month (thanks to shrines, which are great investments when on sale for 150 gems or less), but when I was starting out, my goal was to always try to collect at least 200 wish stones for the next month's alter ego. Sometimes it takes people more, but even I with my terrible luck in the well usually managed to win the alter ego in less than 200 stones. Wizard trolls are an extravagance not worth the coins at this point for you. Open islands and buy buildings to grow your mabu count and xp generating capacity. You should probably save out one of each element for the totems, even now. Make your gold in the sanctuaries and level up as you can. Create an account and start getting friends. It's helpful in terms of gem generation, which will let you buy shrines, which help with the wish stones! Good luck!

Yes, make an Activate account and start collecting kudos. As much as many of us complain how useless they are, they're great when you first start out with them. 400 kudos to get Gurglefin is easy - takes only 8 new friends and there you go. That will help with wishstone production - should give you a few each day once you start filling up your friends list. As mentioned earlier, it also helps generate gems. Also, if you have Hyde or Ma-boo, you can find them on friends' islands.

Are you saying after friending 8 people, I will have enough Kudos for 400? I thought friends only gave 3 kudos per day (when visitng) and maybe another 1 as a gift). So 8 friends x4 = 32 a day?
Is that correct or am I missing something! I also didn't realize shrines gave 1 wish stone per hour on the correct day. I thought it was once per day. |

^This. You should NEVER trickle stones into the well. You want to have ~225 on hand and then wish all at once until you win so that you guarentee you win. Or what happens is that you trickle stones in all month but don't get up to ~225 and don't get lucky so you don't win. Thus you spent all your stones, the new month rolls around, you did not win the alter ego and now you have no stones saved to win the new one. If you have a hard time collecting stones, it is far better to skip a month and then go all in the next month. Winning 1 Alter Ego every 2 months is far better than not winning any over 2 months. I highly recommend you stop wishing this month and just save up. At the end of the month, if you have the ~100 more you need to max out and win, then you can drop them in on Dec 31 and then go drink some champange. If you won't win her, then just start saving for the month when you will have ~225. And don't feel bad because this happens to all the new players. If winning Alter Egos is fun for you, then invest in shrines when they go on sale for 50% off. Buy gems on sale and buy shrines on sale... Never buy anything at full price.

I don't think he's saying that throwing them all in a row guarantees it more than 1-5 at a time. We're just saying that if you save up 200-225 stones, then you are guaranteed to get the alter ego because that's about how many it takes to max out the meter. If you completely max out the meter, you will get the alter ego, but most of the time, you'll get it before then (usually after the last line). For the first couple of months that I tried getting the alter ego, I never could get enough. I then decided to save up for an entire month. I ended up getting the next month's alter ego in the first couple of days of the month. I then had the rest of the month to save. It seems you have been doing pretty well for this month, from reading your experiences. The snowmen have helped, I guess. Now that you have the shrine, you should be racking up. You'll get a wish stone every hour of that element day (as long as you can check every hour). You're far along enough, now, to just keep trying for this month. I think there was the idea that you just save up the rest of the month and see how many you have. Since you're about 50-60% there, having about 100 stones would probably guarantee the alter ego. If you came quite short of that, then save them for the next month. But I say you will have no problem, especially with the shrine, and definitely as long as the snowmen keep coming. Now that you have the shrine, you'll easily get your 200+ stones it takes to max out your meter and get the alter ego every month. Unless you get this month's soon, though, you'll be getting them later in the month. The rest of us usually have enough day 1 because of how we started saving in the beginning. Of course, now a lot of us have quite a few shrines. I have over 1000 stones and that's after throwing them all in at the end of last month with the well glitch and buying a couple of Hall of Legends. But back in May I knew I wasn't going to get enough to get the alter ego so I saved up. My first alter ego was Surfer Slam Bam. After that, I was able to keep saving every month. Of course, since then, I've won several shrines from different quests and bought a couple on sale, so now I'm rolling in the stones. No telling how many I'd have if I didn't throw them all in during the wishing well glitch. |
HappyGamer Yellow Sparx Gems: 1470 |
#25 Posted: 19:26:46 13/12/2013
I believe what was meant is that, if you save up enough to mostly guarantee getting the alter ego (say 200 total or so), then you don't have to worry about whether you get it on the first or 199th throw. If you just keep throwing them in as you go and you don't actually end up getting 200 stones collected in the month, you might not get the alt and you'll be out all the stones. If you haven't thrown them in and only save up 150 or so, you can always use them next month to 'guarantee' that alt. That being said, you're not even halfway through the month and it sounds like you'll have plenty of stones to get her this month, so you should be OK.
EDIT: Darn my slow typing! I almost responded in time. |

You don't automatically get it. But the chance to win it once you max the meter is probably something like 25% per spin. Personally, the highest it has ever taken me to win is 187.
This is why we say that you are guaranteed to win it if you save 200+ stones.

Since you can spin for skylanders, I would not spend too many gems on them. A single sidekick might be useful to counter the chompies. You need to set yourself up long term with your early gems. I'd consider buying another shrine when on sale particularly the ones that help with gaining energy like earth, undead and tech. You need to focus on building a gold producing engine which allows you to gain houses and spins. Others might disagree as there is also some value in having one of each element in swappers. ps. i have 2 slots open. Chaos, if you need friends, pm me so that I can add you. I can see where producing a lot of gold to do spins is ideal, but that's also why I was considering getting a few more swap force and maybe 1 sidekick (so I'd have 2). I'll only get these if they happen to be 50-75% off. Someone mentioned in another post they got swap force for 75% off, but no one else has said they've gotten it. I got Gork and Tuk 50% off, doubling any swap force gold. I figured if I got it to where I have at least 2 skylanders per type I'd maximize gold better as I could always leave 1 of each element not doing anything for totems. And of course right now I have a timed quest for a Chompy Gift shop. Not the greatest prize, but I have to run 65 of the 7 hour adventures for it, yikes lol! |

Charred, I'd agree with you about spending gems on Skylanders. But since Swap Force characters can produce gems from the bats, they kind of change that game a little. And since your spins will give you the core Skylanders first, it might take quite a few spins before you get a Swap Force character. So it might not be that bad of an idea to buy Swap Force characters with gems, at least when they're 75% off.

I'm pretty sure there are levels of spins. I had always heard that sidekicks were included with the giants (and I'm assuming Swap Force now that they've been introduced), but I got a sidekick with a spin right before Swap Force was introduced. At the time, I was only needing sidekicks, one giant, and some variants (including Legendaries) so I figured they were included in with the giants, sidekicks, etc. maybe not. Maybe sidekicks are included with the lower tier if spins.

This however is not everyone's result, Some have been lucky and unlocked a special or Sidekick while still having normal skylanders left. I actually tested this by using millions and hundreds of gems to respin when I had only 20 characters left to unlock (only about 4 normals left) and no matter how many times I respun the result was the same, normal skylanders came up multiple times while the special ones never popped up. I used a trick I learned to save my game on my phone so I could reset the game to where I want on my iPad. So we are talking 30+ respins here to test how rare it was to get a special with normals still left. I compare the chances of unlocking a special if you still have normals to unlock to winning a shrine from the well. It's possible but it's just not going to happen outside of rare instances. |

Not really. The coins used to be easy to get. I used to get 25,000 coins when the Luck Meter was only 25% full. I got the Cocoa Stand when the Luck Meter was about 40% full. Then again, those things aren't really worth that much. So far since the beginning of my quest for Snowler Brawl: -a bunch of cheap decor that I sell after ten seconds of winning -small amounts of coins -reasonable amounts of energy -no gems -no top prizes -NO SNOWLER BRAWL!

I don't think the well gives gems any more.
