So I get the game, get excited about smolderdash. Never see any in stores, figure she's not released.
learn a few days later that OH! She was released, so I check and it's all lightcores.
I check today at my local kmart, they had a new shipment in and there is one single smolderdash, but it's lightcore.
I check the net, apparently there is a non-lightcore smolderdash figurine but nobody has one anywhere. So is this something I'll have to wait for to get released? If so, is there any info on when?

No ma'am. I like the pose of the regular smolderdash more anyways, though with my luck it'll probably be in some expensive triple pack. I made a deal with myself. I'll wait on non-LC smolderdash but I will pick up LC wham-shell, as he was one of the 3 I wanted the absolute most when Skylanders came out (Camo, wham-shell, warnado) Edit: with my luck they'll put non-LC smolderdash in some triple pack with characters I could care less about and then LC smolderdash will be discontinued and I'll be royally screwed and have to pay big bucks for her no matter what. |

If she's in a Triple, she'll be in a Single too. There haven't been any characters in a Triple that weren't in a single, besides those in battle and adventure packs, and it's already confirmed that she isn't in any of the four battle or adventure packs for SF. I agree with you that the regular is much better- I don't like the LC figure at all. Even the lightup effect isn't that great(her fire looks better with the proper painting than just lit up red).

You may be right about the character's poses but as for game play, Smolderdash is awesome - LC or not. And I was surprised to learn she's not always easy to find either. I recommend getting the LC version to play until next wave appears and then if you still don't like the LC, Ebay it.

Non-LC Smolderdash is in a wave 3 box either in China or on a boat somewhere coming to the states or in Activision distribution centers waiting to be loved.

If I had my guess, they probably already have Wave 3 & 4 sitting in a secure warehouse and 5 on the way. There is a loooong lead time in manufacturing those sorts of things, doing a change in the molds for a new run alone isn't easy, then you have to switch gears on the painters. That's part of why Flashwing was still in later waves last year, they didn't anticipate the big drop off in demand for her. |

Lots of onesy twosy items ... I hope they don't decide to bleed it like last year but I'm guessing TRU and other retailers are expecting this to justify the real estate they are using.

http://www.skylanderscharacter...-characters.asp Between all the characters, then Light Core versions, then variants, etc...then add in battle packs and adventure packs. There is a ton yet to be released. Just one example, they've yet to release a 'sneak' ability Swapper yet. At least I think that is what we are talking about. Hope this helps! |

Even if the predictions about Wave 3 are completely accurate, there are still several to release later:
Swappers: Freeze Blade, Doom Stone, Trap Shadow Newlanders: Fryno, Punk Shock, Scratch Repose: Turbo Jet Vac, Fire Bone Hot Dog Lightcores: Bumble Blast Add in several variants as well, which do not typically align directly with waves, but often correspond to a wave so they can make them while doing the regular ones. Since the Battle Pack has been seen in Singapore, it is practically a given to appear with Wave 3, but Sheep Wreck Island is still an unknown. Wave 3 is shaping up to be quite large, so it might get bumped to later to generate more interest and keep people at the edge of their seat. If I were a betting man, I'd say they will save at least one of each category for a wave 5 around April, then variants spread about. They always want that dangling carrot at the end of the train. I'm just hoping they don't dangle that carrot all the way into Skylanders 4 like they did with Lightcore HEx. |

I'm not the Activision figure purchasing welcome committee, buckaroo. defpally just detailed what's outstanding. My point is, given last year's Giants rollout, they started with some rather sizeable waves and ended with releases that were smaller, and in some cases just two or three new ones and then "previous wave filler" for those catching up. To be more specific, more of the boxes in later waves are filled with figures released in previous waves, hence the new figures themselves start to taper off typically after wave 3. Quote: defpally
I would not only bet on it, but I would also bet that I think they'll find a more inventive way to get me irritated. Quote: Haseo
Eruptor will unfortunately be a figure that gets a repose every release. Bank on it.

While the lightcore Smolderdash's pose isn't as great, I'd highly recommend getting the lightcore figure. Everything about a lightcore figure goes along with Smolderdash's bio and abilities. The figure's eyes glow. She emits a glowing light attack when placed on the portal. Frankly she's perfect as a lightcore figure (minus the pose not being as great).

Every element seems to have a "headliner" figure that will probably get reposed every game.
Spyro for Magic Trigger Happy for Tech Stealth Elf for Life Cynder(or maybe Chop Chop) for Undead Eruptor for Fire Gil Grunt for Water Prism Break for Earth Whirlwind for Air They (and their marketing/licensed partners) have invested so much in branding for item displaying images for those figures they cannot afford to leave them behind. Think of how many cases and shirts and various doodads you see out there with these items. I'm starting to wonder if they are thinking of even expanding that list with Hot Dog and Pop Fizz (and maybe Zoo Lou for this game) given the frequency of them being used in marketing. I could definitely see them dialing back further on the reposes to one per element given the lack of demand for them this go round, or maybe trying to differentiate the new pose further like they did this time - but I personally expect them to have at least these guys every game. |

I totally agree. I mean, who doesn't like LightCore versions of the originals. That's why I bought LC Flashwing, Star Strike, Grim Creeper and his Legendary counterpart.

Her dash attack is actually her namesake. It's pretty awesome. Once she enters into Eclipse Mode, she can do it until her power fades (thankfully it recharges relatively quickly). It's a simple button press, and she charges very quickly (a bit faster than Hoot Loop's teleport) damaging any enemies along the way, or at the end. Not sure if she's invulnerable mid-dash, but I haven't been knocked out of it yet.

How far does it charge? Any idea of the damage output?
Sounds fun though. I imagine with the final upgrade of her Eclipse path it's a lot stronger.

@Doomslicer - If you had Twitch, I could coordinate a live play and show you. But from memory, it's about a quarter to a third of the screen. Kinda hard to put it into measurable terms. About the same distance of Sunburn or Cynder's dash attack. SUPER useful ability in PvE, and not bad at PvP either.

It's more like Shift's teleport skill, except for the whole "go through attacks" thing.

I think they're replacing Whirlwind with Jet-Vac, he's much more marketable then Whirlwind. Same with Eruptor, Hot Dog is much more appealing because kids love dogs. They also seem to be having a tough to to choose who's the "Flagship Skylander" for Earth and Undead. For Earth it's either Terrafin and Prism Break for Earth. For Undead, it's Chop Chop and Cynder (I prefer Chop Chop, Cynder isn't very Undead-ish to me)
