"Don't let the door hit you on the way out!" Is a rude remark often used when someone doesn't like someone and can't wait to see them gone.

Posting something like that is mean and considering it getting said towards one of the nicer members of the site, an argument is sure to ensue from it. I don't see any misinterpretation there.

Good-bye!" type post is exactly that -- acting like a spoiled child.

As for what I would have preferred, it would be simply ignoring the post and going on about your day.

People make posts here along the lines of growing bored with the site or feeling unwelcome, etc, on a daily basis. These people tend to come back in a few hours or days. These often met with a simple goodbye or "we'll miss you" from a few, or the joke reponse of "kk see you in an hour".

Then of course because this is S&N, every now again you get the "I H8 chu all, I's leavin' 5evar!!" or more likely an actual topic devoted to it. These people never actually leave, merely aim to get a few lulz. Hell, I think I've made such a topic.

may leave for a week cruise around my b-day (June 12) but that's only in a few months
