I think we all know that when a game sells really well, it usually gets a price drop along with a new label (Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits/Players Choice/Nintendo Selects, etc) Do these labels bother you? To answer the question, for me, no, unless the whole case gets a recolour (XBOX, XBOX 360, PS3).

You gotta believe! Heh heh.

Well I think they gave a Platinum Hit to Sonic '06 and that was a disaster

Sometimes, it depends on how it effects the case overall.

Such as with Kingdom Hearts. The normal one is this shiny, kind like holographic like, while the Greatest Hits takes away the shinyness.

I don't give a flying **** about the case. I actually buy games to play them.

Life may be harsh in such a dark year, happy new year we said an eternity ago it seem now, but it's far from over, we will survive.

Packaging wise, I liked the North American Players Choice boxes in the N64 era - especially for games like GoldenEye, the change from red to gold on the stripe to the right somehow seemed more visually appealing.

The labels do get more elaborate in later generations often at the expense of the box art, but it's not a deal breaker for me if I want to buy the game. It's only when Players Choice versions start revising code to remove exploitable bugs / controverisal game elements that I'll actively seek a 1st print.

Nintendo GameCube Player's Choice - No, it's fine there.
Nintendo Wii Player's Choice - I prefer it.
Xbox Platinum Hits - No idea, don't think I own one that changed the cover much at all. Just the BK: N&B and Viva Pinata double pack that came with the system.
PS Greatest Hits - No idea, I hate Sony and have never seen these cases.

I hated the Greatest Hits for PS1. They would remove all color from the PS1 discs, and make them just grey/black/white smilie
