Buy some gems today if you dont have many...

I have noticed a trend. Gems are often on sale right before big sales. Thanksgiving is coming so if I was a betting man, Id guess a big sale or event is coming...

Shouldn't we be able to figure this out via time travel?

Yes, I've noticed the trend also. You get hidden offers for days, then when the sale is on, nothing. Go figure.

As usual, Charred was right. The game just updated for me and there's some stuff to buy:

--80% sale on all skylanders on Friday.
--New 200 gem "bird house" only available this week. Looks like it will be the equivalent of a cadet/scout house (and will cost the same at 200 gems). Ho hum. They look cool, though.
--New Gorm & Tuck quest that will win you a life shrine.
--New Enchanted Hoot Loop quest that will win you a magic shrine. (Here's a good use for that 80% off skylander sale...)

Probably some other stuff I'm missing...

The Friday sale is from 4:00am until Noon. I wonder how that will work out for our Australian, Asian and European players...

I went ahead and bought a bird house for the fun of it. Since it's a limited thing, it's more enticing, but it does seem like a cadet/scout house. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the payouts are, but I doubt they'll be more. It looks like you can buy more than one, so it's tempting, but I think I might save my gems for other stuff. I like the 80% off Skylanders. I'm not sure if I want to pick up any, though. I figure I would eventually win them with spins, though picking up a few Swap Force characters to take out bats and take advantage of Gorm & Tuck would be nice. Enchanted Hoot Loop would be a good buy, I guess, as long as you have time in the two days you have after that to build him up to be able to do the magic adventures. I'm sure it's doable, though. I might have to consider it. But at 80% off, that would make him 60 gems. Definitely worth it for a Swap Force Skylander and a shrine. It almost makes me wish I had bought another magic shrine when they were 100 to get me to 3, so Enchanted Hoot Loop would give me a 4th.

Since I'm waiting to give Swap Force to my son for Christmas, we haven't been able to put any in the game. I've been blessed that someone has helped me out with a couple, but getting more elements would really help out with the bats. Maybe I should pick up some to get me by. I might even considering getting the ones I already have knowing I'll get the gems back later.

Today I've rejected an offer of 300 gems per 0,89€. I didn't think to spend 200 gems in the bird house.
I imagine it will not be a very good buy (as cadet / scout), but it's so pretty .... I couldn't resist....
I only have 600 gems for Thanksgiving and I want to buy Gorm and Tuk, especially now, that takes a shrine as gift.

Did you time travel to find out? I thought about jumping ahead to see if there were any other surprises, but was afraid to mess up any timed quests. I know they go away if you jump ahead of the time, but wasn't sure what happened if you jumped ahead in the timeframe of the quest, if it would advance the time or keep it the same. I want to make sure I have plenty of time to get the Gorm and Tuk quest and make sure I still have a couple of days to get the Enchanted Hoot Loop quest after the Friday sale.

I believe if you buy skylanders with gems, you get the gems back when you import the character into the game, so you could consider it more of a cost-free rental...

Houses are back Saturday....get those gems today...Gem Pack 2 is offering double gems as part of Super Tuesday.

A Bird Event (bird event during Thanksgiving, rolls-eyes) starts tomorrow to go along with the bird houses.

Speaking of the houses....I hate those 200 gem houses. A shrine pays out more gold. Of course I'll grab one but I just don't like the way those 200 gems houses work. I prefer they were a 350 gem or even a 1200 gem.

The enchanted hoot loop quest is 15 magic quests...the 30 min quest will count. If you get him on sale Friday you will have enough time.

Well I bought gems. And then I bought the bird house. lol I told myself I wasn't going to, but I visit everyone and see all the cute and unique buildings that y'all have from past events and I want in on that! Hahaha Come on birdies!!

Can we get confirmation on this? I'd be interested in buying some that I will be giving to my daughter for Christmas if I can get the gems back when putting the code in.

I can confirm that this has happened for me. It's always nice to get gems back. Also, if you have a portal that works with your device, you can put the skylanders on the portal without taking them out of the package. The portal will read the skylanders while they're still in the package.

I can confirm that you get your gems back after inputting a code. I have done it several times and as recently as two weeks ago.

If you have the bluetooth portal (the one that came with the Battleground package), the you can put your skylanders on it and still leave them in the package (no unpacking required). This way your son can have his new skylanders for Chrismas, and at the same time you can have them in the game straight away :-).

I found this out when my impatient 6y old son just popped on one on the portal. He just couldn't wait.....

That would work if I had the portal. Of course, my 5 yo is also smart enough to know that if I have them in the game, that he might be getting them. Although, I have been given a few codes from gracious friends on these forums, and he knows that, so he might assume that, but I wouldn't put it past him.

The question for me will be whether to buy Cupid Flameslinger's house. He's the only "alt" that I don't already have in the game, and I may never get him given how low the odds are. But if I do get him, well then I'd really like his house! (For that reason I bought Whisper Elf's and Trigger Snappy's houses a ways back even though I hadn't yet spun for either of those characters).

I probably won't do that, as I still have plenty of other things to spend gems on. But it's on my mind.

IMO, the alt houses have been some of the rarest items to return after they disappear, so I'd get them while they're available.
