We've had several variations on the packaging of the Lightcore figures since they were introduced (six different ones in Giants, if my count is correct), but am I the only one who really dislikes the SWAP Force Lightcore packaging? The lack of character art makes it... bland.

I agree. It's not that attractive.

I must not be too observant. I didn't know the characters weren't on the packaging until you mentioned it. It seems to me they are trying to find a way for these things to stand out. In all honestly, the best packaging in the world isn't going to help them. For once, the packaging finally demonstrates the value of lightcores...minimal.

Maybe it's because I leave mine in the package (and I'm a fan of good packaging in general) that I noticed...

But yeah... At this point, they should just make all figures Lightcore and bump up the base price. smilie

I do agree they need to BLEND them into the concept of cores...maybe it's a good idea to have a figure have both a core and lightcore and let people CHOOSE which one...personally I think it's a lot of noise and I personally would rather just have a figure be released once in a given game. IMO that's the way it's headed as I suspect sales of figures that have two or more versions of them won't be sustainable long term. They are kinda forcing it by releasing core characters inside of adventure/battle packs but it's a tacky strategy.

I'm glad they made the packaging different this time. Makes them easier to pick out in a well stocked display. Not a fan of the missing art, although to be honest I just noticed it a few days ago. All the more reason to crack those babies open (at least for the ones you play with).

I find it odd and disppaointing too, but at the same time I also find it interesting as the design does differintiate between core and LightCore making it quite obvious to tell the difference by looking at the tops of the packs rather than digging through the whole shelves.

I always thought the holographic insert (with the figure's name on it) did a decent job... but then, more than once, I was excited to find what I just *knew* was a S2 Dinobot when, in reality, it was just Lightcore Dinobot... (then, there was the time there was a random S1 Dinobot on the pegs and I saw the different artwork on the card...)

Maybe they should have went with holographic card-backs (similar to the included trading cards)... or, perhaps, different sized packaging?

Or seeing as how some figures have the big "Series 2/3" banner going down the left side, they could've replaced that with "Lightcore" instead? I agree on both counts mentioned above - there were moments of false hope during the Giants hunt where I wanted one character only to realize it was their alternate lightcore / non lightcore one on the peg. The new packaging makes them easier to distinguish. However, it's also less attractive overall.
