right now i'm watching Serial Experiments Lain, and it's really making me question about reality and technology.

is the internet you, the same you that's in real life; or it it a different entity all together?
is the internet you equivalent to a soul?
is reality and virtual reality at different from one another?

I am not as shy on here as I am IRL, but that's the only difference.

IRL, im have no confidense in myself, im shy, im not proud, and im not usually in a happy mood.
I wear a mask hiding the bad emotions, which i guess i kinda do here. Honestly, here, i have nothing to worry about. Im free. I dont have people judging me badly. I can say im gay and br gay without anyone caring. Thats why i spend most of my time on the internet and here. Im not a sociable person, usually turning done offers from my friends to go places.

Eh, I have the same thoughts. I have the same personality. Is just that I'm more quiet offline. I only talk when I find that I should, which is hardly ever. Usually to answer questions that I am asked.
So yes, this me is the same as the offline me.

No the internet isn't some weird mystical land that is an extension of your soul. I guess companies and the government could look at it that way since they can usually see most of the things you do and think they know you because of that stuff but it isn't a mythical world or anything like that...

I wouldn't exactly consider my internet self the same as my real life self. I usually don't show my true thoughts through my internet self to avoid offending people or causing massive arguments. It's not equivalent to a soul. And yes it is different, you don't feel pain.

Depends on your definition of 'real life you'. My internet self is the way I think, so it is technically the real me. However it's quite different to the way i portray myself to others in real life. IRL I rarely talk to anyone, unless I actually have something to contribute to the conversation. I think tho essentially they are the same, it's just that on the internet it is laid out in such a way that you only need to participate in discussions you can contribute to. Whereas IRL you have to participate in all conversations around you, even if they are of no interest. So basically on the internet it's easier to focus all your thoughts and opinions, so people end up with a better idea of my personality. IRL you only see the occasional snippit because 99% of the time I just don't care. The internet collects that 1% into one place.

if any one was wondering, this is my thoughts :/

-is the internet you, the same you that's in real life; or it it a different entity all together?
people acted differently IRL VS the internet. what make you "you" is your personality and memories, so if that's distorted in a any way, it tends to blur the lines of whats really you.

-is the internet you equivalent to a soul?
i think yes, it is something similar to a soul .
for me the concept for a soul is that's a part of you, that does not exist in this world( you cant touch it, smell it, ect...) that's the same internet you :/

with this mentality you may say the internet is a human creation of a rudimentary god, but ill just stop there..

is reality and virtual reality at different from one another?
i think it's a gray area...
in real life, we see with our eyes hear with our ears, ect... and all that information comes to our brain and it tries to make sense of it all, but it's not perfect. and with virtual reality we also come up with this problem :/

sigh...i'm thinking way to deep into this stuff :/
