Wonder if this will work with the Android emulator and the portal? That would be interesting.

How would emulator recognise the portal?

Been trying to figure that out myself. The game uses the webcodes too, right?

How will the android version use the portal at all? As it is a iOS only portal. Are they going to make a new portal?

It's a bluetooth portal which should be universal. It comes down to whether or not the Android version supports the option to use it. |

No its not, I have the portal and it uses an apple only ID code to connect to the iOS devices.

It's Bluetooth. I've connected it the bluetooth adapter on my PC. Couldn't get the PC version of SSA or the Editor to recognize it, but it was for sure attached.
Was excited for this news, but my phone doesn't support Battlegrounds... so, sadface. |

Out of curiosity, how do you know it's an iOS only code? |

I can tell you for sure that as a fact, the Bluetooth portal is NOT iOS only.
I have connected mine to my PC and sent and received data with it. I have read figures via it. It connects as a standard Serial port! It would be trivial to add Portal support into apps on both iOS and Android. |

Well it may not be I guess but I have always read that apple only allows Bluetooth devises that use there ID code to connect to iOS devises. This is why the lego mindstorm next 2.0 can't have an iPhone app (it has an android app) that it does not have an apple ID code in its Bluetooth chip.

Yes, Apple put a restriction on non-approved devices connecting.
The Bluetooth portal IS approved and CAN work with iOS. This does NOT prevent it working with anything else. The idea is to stop random stuff working with iOS not expensive iOS accessories working with other gear. |

Ok I was just also thinking about how the xbox portals that where made to work with it did not work with anything else.

There was work done on making the xbox portal work on the PC. Again, it was to stop non xbox approved stuff on the xbox, NOT the other way around.
If I still had my Apple dev licence (I gave it up because it wasn't making me money with free apps!) I could write an app for iOS like the one I am doing for the PC. I don't have the time though. |

I can find it searching on my PC, it's $7.30 Canadian. It doesn't come up on my phone as it's incompatible with it which is odd since I have an S3 which is compatible with most apps.

About time this came to light. Great news...no really, Battlegrounds on anything but Apple is exactly what I was waiting for on this one.
Anyone connect a portal to their phone/tablet manage to get the bluetooth portal to work with this version?
