Not a brag thread - just a wow that took a long time thread.

So, I should hit 40 today. It took me 25 days to complete level 40. I feel like I ran a marathon because that bar moved sooooo slow. I want a 40 sticker for my car just like marathoners put a 26 on their car. I hope they never raise the level cap because if they do it will end up taking a year+ to hit 45 the way the exp charts double every level (i.e. 50 days-100days-200days....). Even if they left the requirement flat it would take most people over 5 months.

On the plus side, we should see a huge influx of level 40s in the next week.

A couple of new fisheries and a B&B from the well this month will help me get there a bit faster, but it will still take me most of November to get to 40. I'm at 10.3% on level 39 now.

I should be joining you in the 40 club today. Just 1.7% left to go.

Just curious when did you guys start playing? I started 2 months ago and have played nonstop like a total loser and I'm at level 32.5. Just wondering how much longer it should take me to get to the promise land.

That's amazing. I've been playing for 7-8 months and I'm only on level 39. It starts taking longer and longer as you progress towards 40. For example, my 3 fisheries, which are almost surrounded 10% topiaries, and combine for over 15,000 exp, just ticked my counter up .2%. That's not exact (and I kind of wish we could see exactly where we were xp-wise) but that extrapolates to 7.5 million exp to level up from 39 to 40.

You are actually about to hit a wall that may require some tough decisions based on how many skylanders you have. If you want to level at a decent pace, you will need to max out your community builds and surround them with decorations to boost their output. Your ability to do this depends on how many Mabu you have. You will need many, many of the higher level houses as space becomes an issue. To do this, you need 100+ million of houses. So you need to build up the ability to generate tons of gold per day.

Of course, there are other things you can buy with gold: skylander spins.

You will need to decide if you want more Skylanders or more houses (thus more buildings and faster leveling).

I'm at level 39 (+ 25%) and I have been playing since January. I usually spend my money on skylanders spins, not in houses, in fact, I should have bought the house that costs 20,000,000, but I prefer 4 new skylanders......
Someday I'll have to buy it

Now an important question:
When you arrive at level 40, the houses of giants and alter-ego, stop giving XP (as happened when the maximum level was 35) or continue giving XP?

That's what happened last time I maxed out at level 36. Looking forward to that.

I'm just short of 30% and I'm in no rush to get to 40. It's painful how long it takes to actually generate enough experience to see the needle move. Right now I'm more interested in leveling up Skylanders (to 12, not looking forward to 15).

For anyone that played MMORPG in the late 90s early 2000s this should be a reoccurring nightmare. Typically the exp tables scaled exponentially, rather than in a relative linear fashion. It ultimately drove a lot of people away from some of the more popular games at the time because the desire to grind out another 10% in a 4 hours of play time became work rather than something to enjoy.

BINGO! And I'm level 40 but it was the most tedious grind in this whole game.

Oh, EverGrind, how I miss you so... er... not. World of WarGrind? Miss it a little. Not enough to pay for it... lol.
I'm managing to stay relaxed in this one so far. Level 18 and not in a rush.

I feel like the grind to level 15 for the skylanders is worse, especially since I need to do it about 100 times.

What scares me is that at 40 they add a new building. That implies levels above 40.

I managed to hit 40 literally seconds before my houses finished so I got all the goodies smilie

I bailed on EQ during PoP. It was fun but looking back i missed out on a lot of other things to keep at the grind.

Yeah, but it's the dumbest building in the whole app. You get to max level, and the new building gives you - wait for it - experience only. The only thing that makes any sense about the Stage is the possibility it's a deliberate joke.

The B&Bs certainly helped me level up much faster. Of course, it helps when the well has dished out 52 of them. The last 15 of them of them are the result of chasing Cupid Flameslingers' hut in the well. I've thrown around 5000 stones chasing that hut, and the chase isn't over yet.

Next month I'll join the chase in earnest when I hit level 40 and have all the Halls of Legends I need and thus no need to save stones for anything else. Of course, I don't have Cupid Flamesinger so it would only be my luck to win the hut.

I hit level 40 yesterday.
Now back into coin mode as I want to earn all the skylanders via spin.
I enhanced the inventory and put the circus and the candle shops. Now I have extra space for shrines and houses (I will buy new houses in next Tuesday sale).
Btw, we need a new companion to turn XP into coins when level 40 is reached.

I think Activision should get rid of the % sign and display another digit. Just saying.

And the mission that unlocks after achieving level 15 offers character XP which implies level 16 and...sorry...just threw up in my mouth a little.

LOL
I started playing right after Velious came out, and quite after ... uh... well, we were raiding Time, but there were 2 newer expansions out, I think. We quit when WoW came out, played WoW for a bit, went back to EQ for a couple of months, and then back to WoW and played til we met the Lich King.
I have a life, honest.... ROFL.

I'm not sure what mission you are talking about after level 15. With the help of some time travel I've got 110 Skylanders (everyone except Birthday Bash) up to level 15, and I didn't get new missions for them.
Qanai Yellow Sparx Gems: 1327
#25 Posted: 23:51:18 04/11/2013
He's referring to the fact that they give a new mission when the Skylander reaches level 15 and that mission awards experience points to the Skylander that is already at max level (for the time being). The implication is that there might be higher levels coming since Activision did that.
