One neat feature in the Skylanders games (well, the console ones, at least) is the ability to nickname your Skylanders. But what nicknames do you give to each character? This is the place to share the names you give to your favourite (or least favourite) characters.

Personally I only nickname variant characters, and I've given each one a name that is inspired by that of its regular counterpart:

- Arctica, because I thought it sounded...ahem..."cool"
- "Krakator", a pun on both Krakatoa and Eruptor
- "Hack Hack", fairly self-explanatory
- "Vortex", a pun on spiral; also a mysterious, swirling portal
- "Glimmer", referencing her glimmering crystal wings; also from the title of (and a level name in) Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer
- "Cage Fighter", chicken terminology; plus fighter and ranger are two D&D character classes
- "Mustard", a condiment commonly put onto hot dogs
- "Timber Shiverer", pirate terminology
- "Arbronto", a combination of arbour, a synonym for tree, and brontos, which means "thunder"; also a play on Tree Rex, making them both sound like dinosaur names
- "Glow Trigger", a pun on boa constrictor; the trigger part references the fact that he's a cowboy
- "Jafriti", derived from efreeti, a red genie associated with elemental fire; and Jafar, the character from Disney's Aladdin of whom Scarlet Ninjini reminds me
- "Photon Pulse", because it sounded awesome

I actually prefer just keeping the original names.

If I had Skylanders, I'd only want to change Spyro's name to Goonro.
And if I had the others, I'd change them to Goon 1, Goon 2, etc.

If I had any, none. That's weird.

None. I never really give anything a nickname in any games, all my pokemon I've ever had has kept their original name, even my Yoshi in TTYD is just called Yoshi. ._.

Stealth Elf is. Stelf
And I named one of my whirlwinds Rainbow Dash
My stumpsmash is named Grampa Woods

Most of my nicknames are lame.

The only one I care to remember is Demyx, my Legendary Spyro.

I'm not really into nicknaming either. Only my Stealh Elf is called 'Lyvianne', who is a stealthy assassin elf from a very nice book :-) Other then that...I'm not that genius in name giving, but I love some of the names from the OP above

I have too many to yell them, I only can remember my 's name with is Shikari, now everyone have a nice day

My sister and I love nick naming the characters (she even writes Skylanders fanfics and uses those names but unfortunately everyone's a critic...)

Let's see...some are quite simple, like Sonic Boom is Sonny and Gill Grunt is Gilly.

Others can get pretty creative. Trigger Happy is known as Cracky in our hearts, because when we got him, the very first thing my sister said was "he looks like he's on crack." Others were chosen by my sister so I don't know why some are the nicknames they are, but Stealth Elf is Sophia and Wrecking Ball is Arkie. (Any years later and he might have been Miley. Sorry sorry sorry) Hot Dog is Thori because that's what my sister wanted.

Flashwing is Tara because Tara Strong, our favorite voice actress, plays the voice of her. I think I named my Chill, Crystal, 'cause you know ice and crystals and yup. I don't recall any innapropriate names which is a shock for us (unless you count Cracky) but those are the ones I remember.

Pop Fizz is something like Henry Jekyll or Edward Hyde 'cause he's like Jekyll and Hyde.

So how does nicknaming a Swap Force Skylander work exactly? Does each half get half the nickname, as I perceive it to be? Or does the nickname only go to one half? I'd hate to have gone to the trouble of nicknaming my and , only to get a combination like "Nitro Legendary Photon Pulse Ranger".

Or you combine with Free Ranger

Ah, so it works exactly as I expected. Hey, I just thought of another combination I could make!

Fire Kraken + Cage Fighter = Fire Fighter

Flashwing: Crystal Flight

Considering now I finally have a full team,might as well post the nicknames Even if I still call them by the real names,I can never stay without giving a nickname to distinguish them from other people's toys/my doubles,same thing happens in Pokémon as well.

- Cygnus - Named after a character from Gaia Online. Though I don't like that place at all anymore,which means I'll change his name and others since they don't fit anymore.
- Diedrich - Named after a character from Gaia Online,same as above.
- Enki - Saaaame as above.
S1 - Elphaba - Named after the Wicked Witch of the West's real name in the Wicked Years series.
S2 - Nessarose - Named after the Wicked Witch of the East's real name in the Wicked Years series.
- Herakles - Named after Hercules' greek name.
(LC) - Broseph - Combination of the words 'bro' and 'Joseph',considering Drobot is just that awesome.
- Rita Repulsa - Named after the initial villainess of the first Power Rangers series. Considering she's S2, "make my monster grow" indeed.
- Tio Berlahar - Inside joke,also known as 'I'm horrible at puns'. A brazilian portuguese Let's Play of SG had the player calling Tree Rex as 'Tio Rex'(as in Uncle Rex), and I was planning to call my own future Tree Rex after a Javanese or Indonesian word used to describe a volcanic mudflow(though I couldn't find out if Berlahar is different from the word Lahar as wikipedia uses it). Considering it involves a lot of brown,red and green,Tree Rex immediately seemed fitting for it.
- Turbo Racer - Boom Jet's not the only one named after him :U Considering Camo is shown to be a bit of a troll in the books and Turbo is probably the villainous troll of the century,it couldn't be any other name.
- Peacock - Named after the character in Skullgirls. It's from a girl,but considering the name itself is gender neutral,it fit just as much. Peacock is known to be a long-range fighter/zoner in that game,and being a really annoying one at that.While trying out Ignitor I noticed I was spending a lot more time summoning Soul of the Flame than attacking with his sword,and after giving him a Top Hat to match the robot girl,I couldn't choose anything else x3

- Zapachu- Pikachu....
- Zurua- pokemon reason here, did this because of the lovely illusions
- Burger- his quest has to do with burgers!
- HounDOOM- self reason, as well as pokemon
- Tara Strong- MLP's voice actor of Twilight Sparkle

I haven't been giving them nicknames, because i think its better with the originals. :-) and its easier for me to remember.

I don't actually nickname them. But if I did, I would name some after Pokemon that I think they most resemble.

- Wartortle
- Magmortar
- Growlithe

- Qwilfish or Woobat

Here are nicknames that aren't Pokemon related:

- Stormee (Her prototype name. Personally, I think that name sounds better than Whirlwind)
- Malificent (This one is self explanatory)
- Snow (Two reasons: One, because it sounds ironic and two, because he shares his voice actor with Snow from Final Fantasy XIII)
- Sgt. Byrd (He has a lot in common with the classic Spyro character. They're both birds that use jet packs, they both have British accents and they both use the phrase "Tally ho!")
- Minion (Again, self explanatory)
- Twilight (She's voiced by Tara Strong who also does Twilight Sparkle in MLP)
- Davy Jones (Anyone who has seen Pirates of the Caribbean will know why)
- Ignitor II (They're both knights made of fire)
- Mushu (Named after the dragon from Mulan)
- Zora (She reminds me of the Zoras from the Zelda series)
