I was kinda hoping this game wouldn't have a story. :/

...Sonic games always have a story, even the Classics do (unless you count spin-offs like the racing games and what not). Why would they stop in 2013?

So, with how little attention it feels like Eggman's been getting and all the hype about the Deadly Six (which are basically Koopalings at this point) in the promotional material, I really think SEGA's going to pull a reverse "Monster of the Week" and have Eggman somehow be the final boss. I do hope that happens. It's just eerily similar to how little mention there was of Eggman leading up to Generations, and then he turns out to be behind it all anyway.

Yeah, and with this being a spiritual successor to Sonic Colours, it's even more likely we'll get that situation.

Also, the Sonic news machine just doesn't seem to be calming down at all. This is an interesting tidbit:

A demo for both versions of Sonic Lost World is available now on the Nintendo eShop, in Japan. While there has been no confirmation of it, I think it's safe to assume that it will be out in Europe tomorrow, and US on Friday (if I'm not mistaken in that being the day the US eShop updates).

So keep your eyes peeled for the demos over the next two days, if you are interested in either version of the game.

Dang, you got the news before me. smilie Yeah I'm really hoping it comes out Friday, or that there is a demo at least. I find it strange only one level is involved though. It kind of sucks. It will be cool to try it out but...it's not like I haven't seen the entire first level 50 times now. :/ If they added more for our versions that'd be awesome, but the fact Japan only got one level makes it seem unlikely.

Also, The fact the game was delayed is absolutely maddening. Having to wait just one other week was enough, but now it's a week after that just before Halloween? Freaking sucks! Demos usually help through that madness.

one thing you trust,

in sonic that's a must....

I don't know about you guys but...I am not feeling it with the Deadly Six. The battles look so...simple and easy. I know they change and get better as you go on through the game, but even so we've only seen parts of those battles and they really don't look too amazing. Now, I know Sonic isn't really known for it's Boss Battles (Besides Dark Gia, The Nega Wisp, Chaos, and a few other memorable ones of course) but I'd think they'd be better than what they're showing them to be in Sonic Lost World. That's just my opinion. Personally I think the main step here is that the game as a whole looks super fun, so the bosses don't matter too much to me, but I'm hoping what we were shown is better than it seems.

And if any of you watched cobanermani456, he also made a valid point that they never show the last act or 7th level. So perhaps the real battle is just being hidden. But other than that, I don't see the Deadly Six being exciting.

I haven't really watched the boss fights at all because I hate how Sega basically spoil Sonic games in the month coming up to their release. But I did see a little bit of footage of the Zeena fight on Wii U, and I just love how Sonic has that twirling animation when he jumps while skating on ice. Very Mario Galaxy, admittedly, but it looks like he's just taunting her when he does it in that boss fight! smilie

And here is some footage of the Gold RC gadgets in the 3DS version, meant to help players who die too much...and geez, are they broken or what?:

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm seeing. Though some appear better than others, thankfully. Assuming Eggman really is the final boss, he better not be like Bowser or something.

Anyway, on a side note. "A playable demo for the upcoming Sonic Lost World has been released yesterday on the Japanese Wii U eShop and it should become available in North America and Europe later today."

Source is Explosion.com! Guess we'll all find out later afternoon when the eshop updates if it's for real. :3

Uhmm, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the eShop has already updated, and there is no Lost World demo in site, on either system.

Really odd. They'll probably release it next week, but in my case, I'm getting the game next week, so it won't mean much then (well, at least in the case of the Wii U version, as I'm getting that first, and saving the 3DS one for the future).

Though, cobanermani456 claimed that he's actually seen people with the EU demo, so I don't know what's going on at this point. Kind of a shame in my case, was hoping a demo would brighten my otherwise bad day today.

A friend of mine has lent me his Hauppauge PVR (HD Game recording device), and wants me to run some tests with it.

Here's the first of them. You get to see me mess up terribly in Sonic Generations!

My capture test up above is fully processed now. It can be viewed in HD. I recommend 1080p if you can, it looks very clear.

For a raw recording, it looks pretty snazzy. The colours are a bit washed out, though. And there are other edits I can make in Sony Vegas to improve future tests.

[User Posted Image]

God, I am so frickin' sick of EVERY GODFORSAKEN PERSON COMPARING THIS TO MARIO GALAXY! Just because it's getting points from Mario Galaxy doesn't mean it's ripping it off. just because Mario does it doesn't mean other games can't do it. nothing, absolutely NOTHING makes the two similar except that they were mascots of SEGA and Nintendo in the 90s and they were platformers. If we're living by that logic, then why hasn't anyone also compared Lost World's parkour system to Assassin's Creed's gameplay?

I've had enough of this constant comparing Sonic to Mario. the 90s are over people, stop living in it.

Oh, and I love how critics keep criticizing this game for certain things but end up looking hypocritical. for example, ign stated that they hated that sonic couldn't run so fast in the game, yet they hated how fast sonic was in unleashed. for god's sake people, MAKE UP YOUR MIND ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT IN A SONIC GAME.

if I sound biased or stupid, I apologize. it just makes me so mad that people are still constantly bashing on sonic games. I know I haven't played lost world yet and it couldn't be so good for all I know, but it gets really annoying when the series is bashed over and over again, especially for someone like me, who thinks Sonic's been back on top since 4 and Colors.

And yes, Sonic has had his ups and downs, but what I hate most is how they compare this to Mario. Mario isn't a perfect series either, but people overrate it to the point where people say it's the best series of all time, and anything that dares take points from it at all are ripping it off. People seem to not realize things like Mario Kart taking points from every kart racing game ever, and Luigi's Mansion taking points from Ghostbusters. Yet somehow, Mario always gets a free pass for doing this. But Sonic? SHUNNED.

again, I apologize for the rant, and if anything I said is a bunch of bs, but I had to let my frustration out at some point.

Nah, the reviews have been stupid. The game clearly has similarities to Mario Galaxy, but what people don't realise is that the purpose of the geometrical shapes that form the planets you traverse have a different purpose in both games.

In Mario Galaxy, it's meant for some anti-gravity trickery, allowing you to orbit around planets and what not, and achieve great distances by using the physics to fling yourself like you're using a slingshot.

In Sonic Lost World, the main purpose of the surreal, galaxy-esque level design is merely to provide Sonic with lot of space to move around freely, without them having to create huge stretches of land like they have been in the past three 3D games. It doesn't have the space physics of Mario Galaxy. Instead, the spin dash can be used to a gravity defying effect, but it's still not even the same as Mario Galaxy, it's very different, and relies more on ramps and slopes, like the Classic Sonic games.

Honestly, the MOST offensive complaint about this game is the "imprecise" controls, and the game being "too hard". I've heard the difficulty rivals the likes of Donkey Kong Country and Rayman Origins. But that's not a bad thing.

And this speed run (which was made before the official release date), throws the imprecise control argument in the garbage:

This guy seems to be able to handle the game just fine.

Yeah, I'm hearing everyone whining about the reviews, saying websites assigned "inexperienced idiots" to tackle the game. I've only seen the GameTrailers review, and I thought it was reasonably fair. Although from what I've seen, I think I'll like the variety the levels offer. But I don't think their complaints about there being some frustrating sections aren't unfounded.

In any platformer there are frustrating segments. No platformer is devoid of them. The only ones that come close to being devoid of frustration that I can think of are Sonic Generations, Mario Galaxy 2, Rayman Legends, Super Mario World, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

But these GIFs speak for themselves. These are all taken from video reviewers complaining about the game being "too hard" and having "imprecise controls".

Also, here is a video from cobanermani456.
It's the voice overs from IGN and GameSpot's video reviews, put over cobi's own gameplay footage.

But seriously, I know you're complaining about the Mario comparisons, but when I saw that the final Deadly Six-related part of the campaign is GIANT ZAVOK IN LAVA, how could I not think of Bowser? <.<;

If dictionaries could hold video files, this video would be the video definition used for the word "contradiction".

cobanermari456 just got a subscribe from me.

Hey brawler, tell me what you think of the game when you get it. :3 I personally think it looks very fun but according to IGN it sucks. Completely disagree with that, but an opinion from a true sonic fan is reassuring.
