i went to my local TRU and, no wave 2. i asked at the counter. they said they should get a new shipment later this month. I told him about the ad, he didn't know anything about it. I was disappointed, but this could be good karma for me, i need to stich that hole in my wallet.

it will be delivered by ups, they have no way of tracking it. Just keep calling till they show up. Every Toys R Us I called yesterday morning had no clue what I was talking about and they ended up showing up yesterday evening and were put on the shelves immediatly.

I went to my local store in Hattiesburg, MS this evening and all the Swappers were there, however there was no Scorp, Riptide or reposes. So i Don't understand that, but I was happy to see the 4 Swappers none the less. I'm sure they will still be there Friday when I get paid. My area isnt into Skylanders too much I guess.

Neither of my local stores had any. The Temple, TX Toys R Us (an Express in the mall) still doesn't have the stuff that should have come out Sunday. They don't have a single Swap Force item (haven't actually been to the store, this is info from phone conversations with the store). The Killeen, TX store didn't have a thing from wave 2 yesterday morning. It's not that they sold out, they didn't get it, period. I talked to the manager who really couldn't say more than "what we have is on the shelf" and "if anything comes it will be FedEX or UPS" and he had no idea that they were supposed to come and didn't seem to understand the concept of the "hot toy alert." I took a morning off of work and drove an hour round trip in the rain for nothing.

What's worse, my wife called the TRU support 800 number to ask why none of our stores are getting these and the supervisor had no idea what was going on, either. After about two hours of calls they agreed to give us free shipping on the characters they had in stock, which was everything but the swappers (what we really wanted anyway). Now, if we want 40% off all of them we need to return them to a physical store and re-buy them. What a nightmare.

It amazes me that nobody we talked to had any idea of what was happening...none.

Oddly, Killeen was well stocked and prepared at 8AM last Sunday when we went. You would think they would have an idea. And I wasn't the only one there yesterday and likely wasn't the only one upset.

That's very unlikely, since it's been reported that the Wave 2 "swappers" assortment includes 3 Fire Kraken, 1 Night Shift, 1 Grilla Drilla, and 1 Boom Jet.

Anyone see a different assortment as the boxes were opened at the stores?

I visited between wed and eysturday 5 toysrus. 4 of them had wave 2 stuff. One of them had fire krakan. Each of these had 3-5 grilla, boom jet and night shift. So if that assortment is correct then all of those sold out of fire krakan before I got there but 1. I think fire krakan looks amazing as does my son so maybe he's a hit out of them all.

I think Fire Kraken is definitely the star of this wave, his figure looks great. He stands out among the others, had I just chosen one of the four it would have been him. Doesn't surprise me he is the first to sell out, remember most people don't sweep in for all four of them. I see a lot of parents in the store that have their kids pick what they want.

I went over before 7:00 A.M. to the TrU in Mission Viejo, CA. Had a nice chat with the night manager. They went out of their way to lay out the figures on the display cases in electronics. There was a sign up limiting folks to one of each new figure. Manager said they got about 9 of each swapper and ~20 of the singles. Apparently they are the biggest TrU for Skylanders sales in the region so that probably explains the high stock levels.

I was alone until about 8:55 A.M. for the 9:00 opening. Only one other Skylanders seeker showed. We each got 1 of every figure and were out in 10 minutes. Unfortunate as their effort made the process really easy and painless.

I also attended their midnight launch Sunday morning, which was a big mess. 17 families let in to swarm over the inventory they hadn't put out... just sitting in shopping carts. Really ugly when the scalpers are pushing little kids out of the way. They clearly addressed that this time at least.

On a happy note I've got all the Swap Force characters now entirely from TrU (except exclusives of course). Kudos to them... much better experience than with Giants.

I expect after Christmas we'll be back to everyone buying out the inventory immediately.

We didn't go to the midnight launch because our local tru didnt open then. But I was thinking about takimg my 10 year old. It wouldbe a fun, exciting, memorable experience. Maybe you are talking about younger kids but I think I would have taken my son at 6 or 7...
I'd have to make sure he would be able to sleep in the next day but...either way...My point is thay I don't think taking a kiddo to tru at midnight makes someone a bad parent.

They're taking them to a midnight launch on a Saturday so they'd be able to sleep in on a Sunday... for a game that they're going to get hours of playtime out of. They're not going on a late night alcohol/drug run with their folks, its just a video game... Like Shelly said, I dont think it makes them a bad parent. I took my mom and my 7 year old sister with me for the midnight, doesn't make us irresponsible guardians (I'm 22 btw).

I would have taken my 8 year old had he not been sick. He was really looking forward to doing it too. He wanted to help me look for figures as he thinks he has a better eye for picking good ones out of a bunch. I can't say that I disagree with him either. Once at Target there was a DLC Adventure pack sitting in the front row of the pegs that I completely overlooked. My Son thought it was the greatest thing that he saw it and I didn't. I would have taken my 5yo but he spent the night with his Papa. It's not like I take him out at midnight all the time, but for our favorite game release on a weekend I wouldn't hesitate to make a special event.
I don't let him eat junk food all the time, but we did go to the fair and try all sorts of things we wouldn't normally eat.
I saw parents with kids at the midnight release, only one family with a young one, but they all seemed so excited. The other kids were probably 8-12yo.

Well, midnight events are always a rough one for my kids. Not because I think it is bad or anything. But mainly for the same reason New Year's doesn't seem to work out. My oldest wants to stay up for New Year's every year, yet every time he falls asleep an hour before the ball drops. If it weren't a Christmas gift (which is my main reason for not bringing him), I might have brought him - but he would be falling asleep well before they opened.

My TRU did get wave 2, but one thing I'm wondering is when they will see a restock, I know a few people that couldn't swing by. Last year, the Wave 2 three packs also hit right before the weekend, so wondering if that will happen too or if restocks and those will be out around the same time as the other stores.

Yeah, Wave 2 came and went within a day, I was able to get what I needed. I was just wondering how limited it was and when we will see more of them. I know a few weren't able to get by there for it. I had heard it was a special exclusive TRU thing and they got a taste of it early, and other stores will see them toward the end of the month. I was just going off when the triples showed up last year - singles on Monday, triples by the end of the week, but I've got a feeling we won't see them till the the wave hits everywhere.

Exactly. My 6, 4, and 2 year old boys are early to bed, early to rise so it wasn't in the cards this time. Maybe the oldest would be up for it next time. Staying up late for it would be a fun special night out for him.

Might get a little lucky.

I was told to call since they didn't have them in on Wednesday when I went to the store. I call today and now they tell me they're completely sold out of the new figures. They said they had been taking down names and holding figures for people...why they didn't offer that option to me when I was in the store is beyond me, but it gives me a reason not to spend a penny more than I have to at Toys R Us after qualifying for the free Gill Grunt promo figure.

The funny thing is that the last time I went to TRU for a "hot toy alert" promo, it was for the initial Nijini release way back when. I arrived at the Express store at the mall and, while they didn't have the figure, they took my info and called me later in the day when the package with her arrived. So at least they got it. It seems that with Swap Force TRU is being more selective about which store gets what (or gets anything at all), even though the alert goes out to all customers. Very frustrating, but at least they should be at Target next weekend.

Well, to answer my own question, my TRU got a restock of wave 2 on Friday, similar size of the original shipments on Tuesday. Three more cases of each wave 2, singles and swappers. No triples or more lightcores yet - but I've seen lightcores all over the place, it's just TRU that ran out.

I actually went by this evening to exchange my Riptide, I noticed his swordfish was painted really badly and one of its eyes had no paint at all. They had all of Wave 2 earlier in the day, but all were gone - except for one Riptide with a good paintjob, so it turned out ok (for me). I've also noticed single pack Chills have been hit or miss on paint, I saw one in Best Buy a couple nights ago that had one eye/eyebrow completely missing. Kinda looked like she was winking.

My experience with the midnight launch was pretty similar, although my sister in law and I were one of only 3-4 folks at TRU at the opening for wave 2. I had a great time talking to people beforehand and helping out kids who couldn't find what they needed once the doors popped open. I ended up finding out that our store didn't put out all of their stock and I and a mom who I'd chatted extensively with earlier ended up steering the poor guy with his cart full of extras to several girls and grandparents who weren't finding the 1- or 2-per-case core figures that hadn't had enough stock put out. There might have been a scalper or two at the midnight launch, but definitely not at the wave 2 launch. That morning the TRU staff was actually very careful to point out that they were going to be enforcing a 1-character-per-family limit to ensure that everybody got what they wanted. I was so proud of them. :-D

After stopping by Toysrus several times last week, I stopped in there yesterday with my DS for the Lego minibuild they were having. They had quite a few wave 2 figures hanging on the pegs. I managed to pass some off to a sales associate when my DS was not looking so I could buy them later. They will be part of his Christmas present. I gave up on TRU for wave 2 at least. It's sad when one of the most obscure skylander spots, Best Buy, gets the newest figures before any of the other major skylander retailers. I bet K mart will have them before my TRU does. The Swap Force Cycle has been interesting so far.

Anybody else have TRU in your area without wave 2? I'm just curious. I visited the 2 TRU locations near me in Central NJ (Lawrenceville and Freehold) in the past week and they had absolutely no wave 2 except for the Freehold store having Knockout Terrafin (nobody seems to want this guy's single pack after being offered in the various packs throughout the series). On the bright side, plenty of Legendary Zou Lou, Lightcore Grim Creeper, and Free Ranger at the stores (scalpers will be losing if they're running around trying to get these since they're being mass produced and kept well in stock).

Well, single Knockout Terrafin is a sign that Wave 2 has graced those shelves (and about how many boxes of singles they have gotten). He is a third repose, also in another pack - demand for him is very low. The thing is Wave 1 is obviously in much greater supply given it shipped out in mass, and Wave 2 is trickling in a few boxes at a time. People will almost always go for the Wave 2 since it is less common and the "new hotness". I contend it is a sign that Wave 3 will almost certainly not be out on the 15th, and possibly not until just prior if not after the holidays. They will almost certainly want to exhaust their stock of Wave 2 before 3 starts shipping, and right now the shelves are full in most stores and probably will remain so until after Thanksgiving when more parents start buying presents. It all depends on if Wave 1 & 2 starts running scarce and shelves start to clear out. As long as stock remains, there is no reason to ship new figures, after all most kids don't have any yet and everything that comes before Christmas becomes "already out stuff" once they open their shiny new Starter. Why blow the excitement of new figures on holiday shoppers that will buy anything already out. We have to remember that we are but a small slice of the players of this game.

I visited my local Toys R Us two days ago, and they have a MASSIVE stock of Wave 1 SwapForce characters still. However, the Wave 2 characters are all gone, at least for now. I'm sure additional Wave 2 stock will follow soon in the coming weeks.

While this works from the sales/marketing perspective, the strategy is different this time around since they're in direct competition with Disney Infinity. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw wave 3 between Thanksgiving and Christmas when holiday shopping will be at it's peak and the wave would be in high demand (creating a "hotness" factor for Wave 3) for the holiday season carrying past Christmas into January due to people buying them up (as in Wave 2). Although TRU seems to be running all the sales and promotions, they are the slackers in availability as you can get these Wave 2 figures for list price at Amazon, Best Buy, and some Target stores now. TRU is creating an artificial Wave 2 demand by not having these figures readily available during these buy 1 get 1 40% sales to a point where people may just start buying online or going to other stores rather than going into TRU stores and seeing the same old Wave 1 figures in stock. My question specifically was about the thread title...are you guys seeing wave 2 in stock at your local TRU (as mine in central NJ seem not to have them)? And please post what state/area you're in if you're not comfortable posting your city.
