Platinum treasure chest glitched??? [CLOSED]

So I began transferring all my old skylanders and accessories into swap force, and when looking at the collection completion, noticed that there is an actual spot for the platinum treasure chest. After putting my platinum chest on and off the portal three times, it will not register as platinum treasure chest, only as regular chest. Has anyone else had this problem? If so is there a fix for it you have found?

I have had the same problem on the PS3. What console is your game on?

I believe trixster68 is right. Another Platinum Treasure Chest in a new iOS starter pack makes sense.

It's been discussed in another thread.

It seems the game does a check for the Platinum Chest, however the figure doesn't provide the tag to set off the game's flag for it.

A new Platinum Chest would likely have the info on the chip for the game to recognize it, though the one from before won't show any different than the regular chest.

I think that either they didn't encode the original Platinum Chest correctly and this will never work or there may be a "new" Platinum Chest coming out to fix the problem from Battlegrounds. I would actually contact Activision for a fix here as this is beyond embarrassing. Of course, you'll be summarily dismissed by their "support" staff.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

It could be possible, thou unlikely that they could reuse the plat chest in another pack as the ios didn't sell so well. Heck if they do they should do the same with royal, but that's wishful thinking.

If they make a new Platinum Chest that works, would it be re-colored in this game or even giants? Or just be called special and look and work the same as the regular version?

From what the game's coding shows, it would appear as "Platinum Treasure Chest" instead of Hidden Treasure, though the icon seems to be the same color nonetheless.

So nothings differnt except the name? I only collect in game varients and just want to know if they did make a new one that works.

Well it is an in-game variant.

Do you consider Special Tag varients as In game (glitter varients for example)? I havnt played swap force to much yet, but i believe i read that now the game gives actull names to skylanders like glitter hot head, not just 'special'. In the game files how dos it treat the platinum chest? Is there anything differnt from the regular chest besides the name? Im just trying to deside if it should be grouped with the 'special' varients like the glitters (that i dont collect), or in-game varient that looks/dos anything differnt then the reguar version (which i would make sure to buy if they ever made one that worked)

Nope (I have lots of "Special" skylanders) the game just gives them the name "Special" tag or a new "rare" tag (for ones that are like pumpkin that are not that rare to find) platinum chest is a named variant by the games code, and is one of the 28 magic items needed for 28/28 to display on your screen. If you don't have it would always say 27/28 magic items. Also it has its own card (all "special" skylanders do not have there own card)

Given all of this info I would consider it an in-game variant as much as the gold dragonfire cannon is. (that is if they ever make one that works)

Yeah all the names for the specials are just special or rare (I think you have that backwards too Darkrai as Pumpkin EyeBrawl and Glow Sonic Boom appear as special, while Matteomax pointed out the chase variants are 'rare'). I'm going to hazard a guess but given we have three 'festive' Skylander toys EyeBrawl was the odd one out as the other major seasons are covered. If you're curious, the official variant type names it recognizes are Glow, Iridescent, Amazon, Sparkle, Stone, Flocked.

It gives "special" to witch ever one you put on the portal first then rare to the next one you put on, if they are both the same skylander. But the 3DS game refers to all more common ones as rare and all limited ones as special.

ah ok, I think I am beginning to understand now. Was there any data in Giants at all for the Platinum Chest? If not then they had to go out of there way to make the data for Swap Force as opposed to just copy it over. which would imply they plan on making one that actually works.

It honestly seems to fit quite well. A half-recognized magic item from a half-finished game. Sigh.

If they plan to make a NEW "alternate" Treasure Chest, you'd think they'd have chosen something different from Platinum when doing it, so people wouldn't get confused when last year's model continued to remain non-functional.

I'm not sure they CAN "fix" the Platinum Treasure Chest, really. Even in Battlegrounds, a normal Treasure Chest gave the exact same bonuses as the Platinum one, so there may not have ever been any unique coding to its chip at all. I think it's literally a regular Treasure Chest with a different can of paint.

It also has the orange plastic base. Not that it helps distinguish in game at all, of course!

We were really disappointed when the chest didn't register properly. Somehow it wasn't where it was supposed to be (we keep all the "extra" stuff like the pirate swords, healing potion, pirate ship, etc in a different box and it wasn't in there). So we spent 20 mins looking for it and even e-mailed a friend we had sold some duplicate characters to to see if we had accidentally given it to her (we weren't going to take it back, just trying to find out what happened to it). We finally found it in with our Giant figures and no dice when putting it on the portal. Oh well. Hope they can fix it, if not, what can you do?
