Gamestop is already on my "Only if I can't get it anywhere else or they have a really awesome pre-order bonus" for previous issues. They will get zero dollars for other figures from me unless they have an exclusive down the road. They get the Dark Starter sale and that's it - and they wouldn't even get that if it wasn't a Christmas gift my son will really like

Skylanders has been the only reason for me to step foot in a Gamestop. I'm all about getting the Dark Edition, but not enough to pre-order it. I don't doubt that I will be able to score one.

You may want to reconsider being able to score one, unless you're going to pay secondary market prices (scalpers). Gamestop and EBgames have stated they will be getting no extras to put on the shelves, like all collector's sets they don't want extra stock for an item that appeals to a small segment of the game buyers.

Yep! If the person ringing you up can't get it to scan, have them ask a manager, as there's some special way that they have to ring it in. Also, if you're getting a Dark pack, make sure to check the right side (facing the box) of the character bay for your stickers. The guys at my Gamestop defected out my first Dark pack due to the stickers being missing (and nobody yet posting that they'd found them) only to find that the second one "didn't" have them either. Found them this evening when I started reading the forum after taking a break from playing Swap Force.

I went to my GameStop on Sunday morning; 1) store hours listed as opening at 11am they opened at 10 or earlier. I had pre-ordered my dark edition, went to pay and...2) was told by clerk that corporate said coupon was NOT good for dark edition but standard starter pack. The clerk knew 3) nothing about any poster being given away and 4) just kind of tossed the Skylander reward card at me without giving me any info on it. I then went to the GameStop site for info and looked at my rewards points and 5) no points credited for purchasing the $100 package. Now as far as the coupon thing goes I will contact GameStop later today, then as necessary Activision and Frito Lay. What was the point of the coupon if they aren't going to accept it. Cause they don't want to. Isn't it a manufacturers coupon? Don't they kind of have to accept it?

For *once* I had a *good* experience at Lamestop! I arrived shortly after opening and there was a small line. After being in line for no more than 30 seconds both drones behind the counter were discussing the Frito-Lay coupon already. One said to the other "Yes, we got an email about it. We are taking it now." When I got up to the counter, I actually had a smart employee working the register and she got me my Dark pre-order straight away and talked to me about the adventure club and I went ahead and renewed my Pro membership (with the $10 off, it'd only be $5 for the year), got the adv club card, my Dark starter pack, poster and left actually feeling good for once from the store. A-mazing.

I wish everybody could go to my local gamestop. They are wonderful. They told me about coupon working because of email received from corporate. Then when I got there--he followed the steps and it didn't work. He "promo'd" the discount on each starter pack. So I got a $40 discount plus the $50 discount I bought with points thru my rewards program. They said..."the coupons should be accepted based on the terms so we will accept them. We will deal with the issues later--lets get you going."
I wish everybody luck with getting it straightened out.

Skimming this thread, it appears that (once again!) the proverbial "right hand" has no idea what the "left hand is doing" at GameStop.

The staff at my local GameStop in Charlotte was fully willing to accept the $10 coupon on the Dark Edition, but (as expected) their computer system/scanner declined the coupon's bar-code, and the staff had to enter a discount manually.

Sounds like Shelly and some others had the same experience, while others yet received the "we can't accept coupons" line, unfortunately.

In some ways, I really feel badly for the "good" staff at the "good" GameStop locations, because it's very obvious that there is NO consistency in customer service across the various GameStop stores in the USA. The "bad" locations are seriously hurting the reputation for ALL GameStop stores, even the "good" ones.

I guess the best advice on the ground level for consumers is: find a "good" GameStop location and develop a casual relationship with at least one of the regular employees there; and if you're finding that your GameStop location is one of the "bad" ones, then simply do not shop there anymore ... find another one or go to a different retailer.

So I contacted GameStop corporate using the 1-800 number provided in the help section online... after waiting for 20 mins to talk to a representative she listened to my story and said, "hold on a minute" came back a few moments later and said that they should have taken the coupon because, the coupon did not specifically exclude the dark ed. set. She then proceeded to contact my local store's manager and his regional manager and came back to me and stated that the store manager said to stop down and they would fix it. Total 45mins on the line. Went back to the store, same guy who helped me on Sun was there, he went digging back in the e-mails to find where some confusion had been, he showed me an email that was sent later that sun stating that the problem with the coupon was that it was printed wrong and was missing a zero in the beginning of the code so it wasn't being accepted by the computer. He redid the transaction and gave me $10.55 cash back. Still didn't know anything about any poster give away but he scanned the Skylander Adventure card to connect it to my power up card. I then bought the strategy guide and got a discount ($6?) because I had bought the starter pack. So everything was fixed. Hope that helps others.
