I'm thinking about going. I'm also curious if anybody has guess on what the free giveaways are. Did they do something like this for Giants? If so, what was it? Here is the sentence they used:


On Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13, the Toys"R"Us international flagship store in New York City will celebrate the launch of Skylanders SWAP Force with one-of-a-kind in-store experiences, including game demos and giveaways (while supplies last).

Well, to partially answer my own question, TRU in Times Square is having 2 events. One on the 10th and one for the midnight launch.

I called TRU to see what the giveaways are and they said that Activision was providing the gifts so they did not know what they would be. Ill go on the 10th, just have to decide if i want to go for the midnight launch. Its the giveaways are good its worth it, otherwise its a late trip into the city where this is no Walmart nearby.

Ideally the giveaways would be a free figure.

Awesome. Whil I would love to go, I just cannot justify the drive from Central PA. I have to drive an hour and a half to my TRU as it is. Take pictures and stuff and post, if you can.

no, i do live like half an hour away but i already planed target.

I'd love to be there, and am even off from work, but NY Comic-Con starts on 10/10 at 3PM, and that's where I will be. As for the midnight launch, if there were Targets and WMs in the area, I'd consider it, but there aren't so it's just not worth it to me.

I might be going to the event on the 10th with the wife and kid. Debating if we want to pull him out early to do this as I'd like to be there alittle before 3pm. Figure train ride and subway ride/or walk. will take us a good 1hr and half from the island.

Ill be picking up my son at 3pm from school, then 45 mins train ride from Queens. So, by 3:45-4pm I should be there.

Hope they don't give away an exclusive variant. That would be the new E3 Hot Dog.

If they do, expect Green Metallic Gill Grunt to make a final appearance before being shipped to people who tossed $100 up for Swap Force.

And whats interesting, is there is a second event on the 12th at midnight. If there is a free character on Thursday Ill go back on Saturday night.

I'd consider the same but i dont get out of work till 11pm so id prob get there by time they are all gone.

Had to play ipad game, basically multiple choice stuff to help you pick which swap force character you will like, then you get a pin. Son got Wash Buckler.

Sign says,

Play swapforce
Enjoy swappleable candy
Pick your swap fprce character photo op
Spin the skylanders giant wheel ro win a prize

Tray of candy, for each type of element. Get a canister of it

Given washbuckler token thats in a clear plastic case. Guessing for a spin

Got to play game with 5 characters.

On line to spin big wheel, if match wash buckler win the copy of game.

If you fail, get free pumpkin eyebrawl.

Also get a tshirt, win or loose

So you either get pumpkin eyebrawl, a t-shirt or roller brawl?
We ended up not going as my wife was in fear that it was going to pour and with the cold didnt want our son getting sick (he is prone to seizures if he does). Also the fact we are going away next week we decided to skip it, but it sounds like it was a blast.

Got a tshirt either way.

If you won, supposed to get game. Im guessing they ran out. Brought out a box of swap force figures and you could choose one. So there we several figures to choose from.

If you lost, there was a bunch of lesser gifts. Carrying cases, small megablocks exclusive packs, phone cases, of pumpkin eyebrawl.

Then as you left, they gave a tshirt.

The real gain of the day was the skylanders coin. About 1.5 inches. Heavy. Very well made. Wash buckler face on one side abd swap force logo on other. Was a VV guy walking around and handing them out occasionally.

That sounds awesome. Can you post pics? I am interested in the pin, too.

Its a really nice coin. Lot of weight to it. Im not sure how many they handed out. It was only one guy with them (that i saw) and he had them in his jacket pocket.

^yea I probably will never find one. It's just Wash Buckler is my all time new fav Skylander. (always had a thing for pirates)

Wow, I am really loving this thing... Of all the non-figure items, I think this is the first I've been truly interested in, and that's from someone who doesn't have and won't have Swap Force! :S
