Goodbye gems. Hello shrines!

Hmm...makes that HQ deal very questionable indeed. I'm only at 340+ gems, so I'm not close enough to get the 2 HQs, and may not in time to get the quest, but I had considered it. I can get 2 shrines with gems to spare at 50% off. I do like the idea of HQs, though, to give my Skylanders that do nothing something to do. If only they had more of a gem payout.

I got the HQs. First payouts were in the 5,000 to 6,000 gold range and 2-3 gems each. I'm thinking of them as a combined entity, though. Combined they cost 400 gems but I'm subtracting out 150 gems for the magic shrine that I will get as a reward after collecting 10x from these buildings (which should be quite doable in the time allotted). I therefore view this as one house that costs only 250 gems and collects around 10,000-12,000 gold (or equivalents) every 4 hours. I wouldn't pay 400 gems for that type of payout but thinking of it as 250 gems makes it seem more reasonable.

But I have a fair number of gems banked and I'm still going to be able to get a fair number of shrines tomorrow. If I only had 300 or so gems I would probably just get the shrines.

Now my question is if I buy 3 magic shrines tomorrow and then complete the HQ quest, will I get a fourth magic shrine or will the reward be voided by the fact that I'm at the three-shrine cap?

Correct. The limit applies only to purchasing. Once you own three, from any source, you can not buy more. Acquiring them via other means is fine. I have five magic shrines as a result.

Yep, I had three magic then did the two recent quests w/ a magic shrine.......I now have 5 magic shrines and the bonus does show up when I've collect from treasure chests, x5.

However, you will no longer have the option of winning magic shrines at the wishing well.

The more stuff you get, the less relevant the wishing well becomes. After the alter ego, who wants to visit a well with no shrines available, no houses available, and a better than average chance of winning yet another cocoa stand?

Good point, Woz. I, on the other hand, am in dire need of shrines; I'm not at the cap for any of them.

On another note, have you all already gotten this update? I'm still waiting....

I never win anything but cocoa stands from the well any way. No great loss that I won't be taunted with shrines as possible prizes.

My son finally got the update about four hours ago. Since I can't save, I keep getting it over and over.
