To that first thing, I have no idea where you've heard that statement, but you might've heard somewhere that dolphins have larger brains that humans, and drew your own conclusion from there.
It's false. Dolphins are not smarter than human beings.
Dolphin brains are larger than human brains, but that's only because their sense of hearing is very evolved and they need that brain capacity to process all the sounds they hear.
Besides, it's not really the actual size of the brain that counts, the structure of the brain is much more important.

And to that second.. Humans aren't deadly? Let me tell you something about humans and why we've survived as a species for all these dozens of thousands of years.
Yeah, we got atomic weapons and all that, but let's look at us in the animal level, and see why we are so deadly by our nature.

Biologically, humans are very strong. That doesn't mean that humans are always physically strong though. No, I mean that we a biologically strong. We survive, we spread. Smart is not all we are. Human beings are freaking scary.

We breathe a corrosive gas, drink one of the most potent solvents.
When our species was young, our preferred hunting method was persistence hunting, where we chased our prey until their bodies simply gave up and died.
We can eat just about anything we can find, and if we can't find food, that's fine. Our bodies will simply begin to eat itself so we don't have to stop chasing our prey.
If animals fight us, we can take massive damage to our extremities, lose half of our blood and still live.
We walk upright, leaving our hands free for other use and enabling us to run long distances. We sweat, we don't have much body hair so that exessive time in extreme enviroments will not hurt or stop us.
We are large. Rodents, birds, reptiles, insects, they have nothing on us. Only large predators are of any danger to us.
We are social animals, we live and hunt in packs so that we are never alone. Where you fight one of us, you will fight dozens of us.
We evolved conscience and caring, so that an individual human would not only be concerned with his own well being, but also the well being of those in his pack. We help one another, enabling all of us to survive with less physical effort from an individual. That is why we also live long lives and reproduce more. We take care of our young and our old as a collective.
And lastly, we are intelligent. We lay traps, kill animals from afar without dangering ourselves. We make fire to stay warm and cook meat to yield us more nutritions.

Human beings grew to rule over other flora and fauna only because we are the best in adapting to our environment. We were the best hunters, the deadliest, the smartest, the strongest. We survived where others animals died, sometimes mostly because of us.

Can lizards and snakes do all that? I think not.
