Those absurd prices should just be placeholder ones. I'm not sure how Walmart could make the error of marking it so that it would charge you with the placeholder cost.
By the way, you lucky yanks, be grateful that Skylanders are only $100 there because over here the placeholder price for one game is $10,000.

Absolutely. I don't know why we all have to mention this all the time. Trading/selling opens ALL KINDS of problems. For starters, there are a lot of "under 18" people on here, what happens when they start making deals and have problems? There are all kinds of potential legal issues due to contract law concerning children. Making a deal online is still considered a form of "contract". Just imagine the outraged parent posting on here after little Johnny sent money for a Boomer and got nothing in return. Who wants to volunteer to come up/pay for an age verification for the forum? It isn't cheap. And then there is the mere fact that on a deal gone wrong people then try to rope in the site owner. Who wants to deal with that stuff? Add to that potential additional costs from webhosts for running commercial websites. Due to liability issues and the webhost not wanting to deal with that stuff either. If someone doesn't get help on a bad deal, the webhost would be the next level of escalation for some particularly determined people. Lastly, but not leastly, who wants the floodgates to be opened for everyone that wants to make a deal. People don't pay attention to forum rules right now that doesn't allow trading/selling. What is going to make them follow the rules and post in the right area. Then you have all the moderation headaches from moving threads around and people getting upset that their thread "got deleted" when it was actually just moved. Seriously Gooch, drop it already. Not gonna happen. Lots of places on the Internet where you CAN do this, stop trying to alter the rules here. And stop taking cheap shots at the moderators for not catering the site to your personal preferences. |

Ugh. This again? This is an informational / fan forum website. It's not a trading post. This has been discussed ad nauseum in various other threads over the past year-ish (or longer?). LoL @ "raining on others' parades", by the way. This website provides you with early access to information and a forum to discuss a popular franchise ... for free. That's an awesome deal. No one is being "denied" a trading post. There's dozens of those on the internet elsewhere, both large and small. If that's what you want or need, go there.

Not surprising. I'm sure Wal-Mart would prefer that you actually go into one of their stores to purchase this item. Driving people into the store when they might not otherwise go into the store is what store-exclusive variants is all about (from the retailer's perspective), really.

To be fair, as has already been covered, the site should have age verification in place and is already breaking the law by collecting information from individuals under 13. Tie into that, I can find a multitude of sites where the stie owners/operators were held legally responsible for COPPA violations. I can't say I've EVER read a story where a site was held responsible for "trades gone bad" on their forums or such. Dark doesn't want buy/sell/trade - that's fine... but don't try to claim it's some kind of legal burden. The fact that dark says "no" is reason enough, without making stuff up. |

It's not making stuff up, it is several of the multitude of reasons he has for not doing it not necessarily just the one reason. Are you suggesting people do not sue for unprecedented reasons or for fairly stupid things? And no matter how dumb, it is time and expense to defend against it. He hasn't said specifically why he doesn't allow it, but my whole point was to point out that it isn't just Dark being mean - which is kinda what Gooch has been dancing around. Gooch has been told "no" which apparently isn't reason enough for him, as he keeps on going. |

All I'm saying is, I don't see the point with magic 3-pack when there will be 3 other 3-packs that will cover the 3 magic characters.
Here is how it looks: A: Slobber Tooth, Lava Barf Eruptor, Super Gulp Pop Fizz B: Zoo Lou, Mega Ram Spyro, Blizzard Chill C: Star Strike, Anchors Away Gill Grunt, Big Bang Trigger Happy = $75 This could be cheaper if TRU does BOGO %40 on release day. If you get the Magic 3-Pack ($24.99) You will need to spend $10.99 x 6 = $65.94 + $24.99(Magic) = $90.94 Unless you have to have all packages, its not worth it. As for me I just want 1 of each character, I don't care to have duplicates of the same character. I hope this clears it up? |

By that logic, someone could sue dark for not allowing B/S/T. Sure, it's a stupid reason to do it and they'd never win, but if we're going to go on crazy "what ifs", why not go all out? The idea that it's some kind of legal burden is either a complete lack of understanding of the law or a flimsy excuse at best. If that's the only reason anyone can give for not doing it, then I don't blame someone for constantly bringing it up. |

Uncle, now you are arguing for the sake of arguing again. Here is exactly how things turn south - and why you get such a negative rep with some people. You know, despite our past debates, I hold no ill will toward you. I think in general you are a benefit here and have provided some quality heads ups on Walmart. This is the point where you go "hey I get your point, don't really think that is the reason" and let it go. Heck, I don't think it is Dark's actual reason either. I think he just doesn't want to put himself through the potential headaches from trades gone bad or have the forum devolve into page after page of "LF Boomer, trading Whirlwind". It's just idle conversation towards Gooch who simply will not let this go. My main point was it was like that blog "Why Was I Banned", which took posts from the XBox forum that were absurd concerning children that had duped their parents into thinking "mean ole' Microsoft" had banned their child's Live account for no reason. It was always entertaining (too bad the site is gone now) when their outraged parents were confronted with what Little Johnny was actually up to online. Parents don't always get the full story from their children, and I know I wouldn't want to field disputes from trades/sales from parents concerning their kids trading Skylanders with other people. There are a ton of scammers out there, and we have even had many of them on here (notably the ace guy in December that conned another member out of a Gnarly Tree Rex and claimed his "friend" showed him Thumpback out the back door of TRU a month before he came out). Things like that are why my oldest isn't allowed on the open Internet, he simply hasn't developed a sufficient sense of skepticism toward anonymous people - but not all parents are that cautious. Edit: Oh, and the Age Verification thing I mentioned above was just concerning the obvious next point of "how about we just don't let kids trade then and let the adults do it". Not really just from a legal standpoint. I don't think I was terribly clear on this. |

I wish they did what they did when Best Buy got the special bundle for SSA. You got an adventure pack and a 3-pack. I cant remember how much it was. Some, at $75 for the game alone that is alot for some ppl. Thou some may find the deal with the triple and a figure worth it for one large xmas gift for johnny or annie (random names). There is also the fact not everyone buys triples, some kids get just a figure here and there. I'm pretty sure $25 for a toy turns some ppl off. $10 is prob the ok amount and even a giant at $15 is pushing it. I truely see this package as a black friday/xmas only item that will disappear after xmas (and whatever is left will sit on the shelves for awhile until a birthday or something). So ya i do see it selling, but I also think it will be a limited run item. |
