Got gem from chompy pod [CLOSED]

Just used mini jini to clear active chompy pod. I got a gem from it. Is this something new?

Cape girl adds a chance for a gem. But if you don't have her, it might be a glitch. I've had one chompy pod give me two gems today.

I just realized that empty chompy pods are no longer there to clear by any Skylander anymore, but they disappear instead.

I don't have any mini Skylanders yet. So no luck here.

I want to confirm that chompy pods are in fact despawning the moment they are no longer active. I watched one despawn.

Confirmed. All my pods immediately despawn once empty.

I get the feeling that is an actual change to the Chompy Pod mechanic and not a bug.
