Issue with the cloud [CLOSED]

Is anyone else having problems with the the online cloud save? When I log on, I'm getting a message telling me that the save on my iPod and the save in the cloud are different. What's worse, is that what the game is telling me is my cloud save is definitely not mine; it's either an empty save, or corrupted (lv. 16,777,216 with 536,870,912 Skylanders), or it's someone else's.

Hi! Yes, there are a few reports describing similar behavior. Can you describe what you were doing right before this message came up?

Everytime I log in. If I leave the game by hitting the home button, or turning off the iPod, or if it crashes out when I visit someone else, when I restart the game it gives me this error. The last few times I've tried it, it's giving me the corrupt one.

I have the latest update: 1.6.0 (351154+356233)

My game is continually crashing when it tries to save. So there is no way I can play till it is fixed. It crashes when I try to gift, visit friends, use the wishing well, level a skylander or kingdom. There is no way to make any progress.

I've even tried to play on another ios device, but it does the same thing.

Mine's the same, if you're online it always says about which save to use, and anyway to get my 350 gems back thumpbacks house stole pls

I finally updated, today, and have had no major problems. In case it helps, I'm using an iPhone 4S with iOS7. I updated using iTunes on my computer and not directly through the app store on the phone (as it said I didn't have enough space, which is typical).

I have had the game kick me back to my island when I go to visit friends. That used to be a problem a while back, so it looks like it may be back with this update.

Still wishing I would get the free Thumpback house, though smilie

I'm getting that message every time I open the game now, since I lost many of my items.

I'll go you one better. Not only is visiting islands completely broken. Not only was Thumpback's free house removed, but all trace of the house was removed. Not only does the manual save to cloud button fail to actually save an uncorrupted status to the cloud. Not only do chompy pods now disappear immediately they become empty. Not only does the app tell me on every single startup that I'm using multiple devices on one screen and then on a second screen forces me to choose between saves. Here's a screen dump showing my update-lobotomised app trying to display both screens AT THE SAME BLOODY TIME!

That is definitely more impressive than my error.

I'll probably keep playing until I lose more of my items (it looks like I'm down about 700-800 gems worth of items that just disappeared), or until I start getting the number of errors that you have been getting, at which point I'll give up.

i was waiting to get some good hidden offers to buy more gems, but I don't see why I should buy gems until they get the bugs fixed.

Why doesn't everyone share what device, iOS, etc. you are using and how you went about updating it. Since not everyone is having the problems, it has to be something different somewhere. That could help the devs.

Mine only gives me the option to save to my iPad. It says I have no device for the cloud save. And it makes me use the save every time I enter the game. The cloud icon is gone on my game

It looks like you may have been somehow logged out of Activate. Can you log back into your account and see if your missing items are restored?

ipad 2 -- running ios 6.1.3 -- updated though the app store on my phone over wifi.

I've reported my case to Activision and am now waiting for another email from them.

The issue with my game all began when I tried visiting islands and getting booted out. After a couple of boots I could no longer do anything. Anything that required the game to save would cause it to crash. i couldn't even log out of the game.

Luckily I'm a bit paranoid about being among the first with updating, so I saved the game on another device so that there was a copy of my most recent game before the update. I then deleted the updated app from my ipad and reinstalled it, so that I could upload my old game. So far everything is working ok (except disappearing chompies, and getting booted ever so often from visiting islands).

Luckly we have 3 ios devices, so I've used:
- one device to save a version of all the games before the update (not planning to update this device at all)
- the second device (ipad) is where we play the games on
- the third device I use as a back-up of the active games

BECAREFUL when switching devices cause the game doesn't always save to the clouds.

I am logged into Activate, I've even received and approved of friend requests since I lost my items.

On the setting page under "Activate" it gives me the option to save to the cloud.

However, when I click on a friends' island, after 30 seconds or so it either crashes to the iOS7 home screen or says "Error An error occurred trying to visit your friend. Please try again later."

I'm using iOS7 on an iPad 3, with the newest Lost Islands update installed.

Thanks Orville for looking into this.

As my houses (giant and legendary) just finished working and I put guys back in, I noticed that in addition to the other items (the elemental sculptures, adventure balloons, fancy flower bed, flower beds, roads, etc.) that were gone, my only dragon's lair is also gone. All of my other giant houses and all of my halls of legends are still there, but the other items just vanished. Spyro was in the Dragon's Lair and Thumpling was in one of the Adventure Balloons, but they are still in my game.

I bought the Dragon's Lair on the day it came out (either Monday, October 16th or Monday October 9th, I can't remember which) and I think that is the last item I purchased that has disappeared, so it isn't new items that are vanishing.

My Activate username is Snowknife, its this account which was unable to save no matter what I did. I was happily playing the game for about an hour or two, before my game got corrupted, and I was unable to save. At first I thought that something may have went wrong with the install. So I deleted the game and tried again and it still occurred. By the way the only way to change users was to delete the game as I couldn't log out of the game. Then when I tried to use another account the game ran fine, but as soon as I signed in with my account it wouldn't let me save or log out.

In the end I used my backup game that I saved on my iphone to try and restart again. I lost about 770 kudos, several wishing stones and gems. Its the kudos that made me frustrated as it was very tedious to collect them. And getting the 50 kudos from a couple of new friends helped speed up the process.

For reference my children (the are still playing on the previous version of Lost Islands) Activate user names are

My activate user name is woz. I am playing on an iPad 2 with wifi. I'm running 1.6.0 (351154+357626) on iOS 6.1.3. This is the ONLY device I play on. (So iOS 7 is NOT the culprit). Updated though the app store over wifi.

After update, a similar screen to the one I posted above appeared (although it recommended I click the obviously corrupt cloud save). I ignored that advice and clicked the device save. Following that, every restart presents the same choose save screens. Eventually, I was presented with a Load Error 12 and a message to say that saving had been disabled.

Since Thumpback's House never appeared as an offer, that would indicate not everyone received the SAME update. Why the devs would choose to remove the house mid-update is beyond me. This decision alone is the one that makes me the most disgusted with this update.

Any subsequent attempt to save to the cloud does not result in a fixed cloud save next restart. However, the save game on the device IS saving correctly.

I made a special point of saving multiple times manually to the cloud BEFORE updating. I also put the iPad into airplane mode, and then forced the app to save onto the device as a backup. To make doubly sure. I spent 5 million to purchase an extra skylander just before all this so I'd know the difference between an old save and the latest save with one extra skylander.

I also defriended all but one of my 100 friends BEFORE the update, to test if denying kudos for refriended old friends was only denied POST update. It wasn't. The app remembered the old friends after the update and denied the bonus kudos in BOTH directions.

FYI, it would be FAR more useful if the choose save screen was a scrolling list that contained MORE info from which to choose the correct save - say, number of gems, amount of gold/energy/kudos, number of items in inventory, no of houses, no of community buildings - things that can change frequently. Your kingdom level, your no of skylanders, no of quests are things that can go WEEKS without being changed, and are a particularly poor choice of criteria for choosing between saves.

Since updating, I've tried to visit other islands perhaps 150 times. I've succeeded on four kingdoms one time only and have stopped trying, since it's clearly fubar. Chompy pods still disappearing as per post above.

I am also getting the same issue, it says my local save is different from the cloud save.. Worst is that the cloud save shows a different activate account..

Any advice to resolve this? It's so annoying having to get this screen every time i load up the game..

I have the same issue, evry time I restart the app I get another activate accounts save as an option !

Y had problems with the cloud from last update, and I lost my iphone game. Now I reinstalled the game on the iphone and i can't get my saved game because I can't access to Activate.
(sorry for my english....)

Amapole, did your issue get fixed? In my friend list you are messed up - way over level 40 and I never have the option to visit your islands. However I still get gifts from you daily.

I stopped playing the on both my iPad & iPhone about six months ago because there was always discrepancies between the two cloud saves. The main problem back then was that I'd usually lose about an hours worth of progress when changing devices. I only play on my iPhone now because I can check in on progress during my breaks at work. Even though the iPad is easier and nicer to look at, it's just not worth the rigmarole. I play on my iPhone only and haven't had any of the problems people are experiencing, ( besides the visiting thing where it brings me back to my kingdom half the time), but I put this down to server overload since the kudos introduction. I've only ever updated the game on the iPhone itself but at home connected to wifi.
