I preordered the dark starter pack for swap force today,, will dark mega ram spyro work in giants and SSA?

We don't know yet, prob will but as regular spyro or if they are crazy as series 1 dark, but who knows.

And like I said in your other thread, most likely any character who existed in the previous games will work in the previous games, just like with SSA/Giants. But like Slayer said, they'll appear like they did in those games, not with any special looks.

So far I do not think so I tried Blizzard chill from Swap Force on Giants and it did not work. I am not 100% sure but the new portal is different and I am not sure if any of the figures are backwards for the older games? We will see come Oct 13th

Then I wonder if that chill will even work in swap force. If you look at the chill box it shows that it works in both giants and swap force.

The real question is for S3 will they register as S2 with a wow pow or S1 with now wow pow.

It just might work. Maybe the figure that I tried does not work?It is possible. I bet the new reposes will be like the giants reposes that were able to play in spyros adventure. Like I said come Oct 13 I am sure a lot of our questions will be answered. It might also be that we need the new portal to use the new figures.

if the figure existed in the game in question, yes it will work. Their logos are misleading.

For instance, Big Gulp Pop Fizz and Blizzard Chill are Series 2 and will work in Giants but not SSA. Big Ram Spyro and Lava Barf Eruptor are Series 3 and will work in all three games. Lightcore Warnado, a reposed character (technically Series 1 since Lightcore never uses wow pows) in Swap Force will work in all three games despite not appearing in Giants because SSA was his first appearance.

In terms of "wow pow"...only characters listed in the new game's roster as "core" skylanders that are either series 2 or series 3 will have a wow pow. Skylanders NEVER use wow pow for series 1 characters (new to the game and series) which also includes lightcores (lightcores are NEVER considered anything but a series 1 character to any given game, despite what generation is currently being produced).

I suspect Dark Mega Ram Spyro "may" register in SG and SSA as "Dark Spyro" but if they weren't clever he may register as simply a "Spyro". We'll have to see, really. It depends on what character id is on the RFID chip. Most definitely Dark Ninja Stealth Elf will register as simply "Stealth Elf" in SG and SSA, and the others shouldn't work in previous games.

More then likely if you put a series 3 on a giants portal it will be the series 2. I get what you mean it could weirdly be series 1 but i doubt it.

I forgot something... I did read/hear that they changed the technology slightly with the Swap Force figures, and as such they and the game requires the new portal. The new portal will work with the old games, but the old portals won't read the new figures. So to use the new figures in the old game, it sounds likely you will need the new portal to be able to read them (this could be as simple as they've run out of room to store what they need on the figure in an organized fashion, so they changed the data structure to give themselves room to grow, like adding a second WowPow to Series 3).

I have a little info, and it looks like the new figures DO work on the old portals.
I expect Series 3 Stealth Elf to load up and work as Stealth Elf in SSA just fine on the SSA portal.

The main change in the portal was to support more items on it at once and increase the range/power of the signal.
The Target pre-order "item" card can be read on the SSA portal just fine even though the game doesn't recognize what it is.

I could be wrong, but I have some secret knowledge here that I can't share that points to this being the case.

When you're in your thread, you should have an edit link or button, I think at the top. Once you click that, you can edit the subject or close the thread or delete the thread, among other things.

You probably don't need to do anything, however, no replies since then, it has basically died a natural death.
