September is the big month where the various embargoes on SWAP Force will start to be lifted. We'll begin to see what retailer exclusives are coming out and some of the mega sites will start revealing details of the games (although full reviews *might* not come until October).

Sure, we know GameStop has the Dark Starter - but what else will they have? We've seen a little from Toys R Us on the Legendary front, but we all know there's going to be more than just four Legendary SWAP Force figures. Not to mention, will they be using their Rewards program again this year to send out exclusive coupons? Or more? We haven't really heard a peep out of Target, Walmart or Best Buy yet. And don't forget Amazon. Don't forget Amazon.

Who will be this year's "cheap backpack of crap" for launch?

And what about our overseas friends? Will they have an exclusive launch figure like GitD Fright Rider? What will their various retailers have? Sooo many questions.

What about the two games themselves? We've already gotten a pretty positive sneak-peak on SWAP Force 3DS from IGN... Will they rank as well as the previous games in the series, or will they drop the overall scores? Perhaps one version will rise above all others?

Oh, and for fun - will LightCore Hex get a solo release for those not getting SWAP Force?

target was more consistent with exclusives and since they are handled well there's a good chance we'll see some of the swap force figures most likely at launch from them. legendaries will be locked behind toys r us as usual and walmart will most likely have sales along with target. it's possible there'll be variants again like giants going to them but if they get more glow in the darks...i think going to sit out on the spending.

with all the figures swap force has, aside from the dark starter and smolderdash, the lineup is pretty limp and undesirable and many of the reposes look bad.

I have to disagree. I think the reposes are more interesting this time. Could some of them be done a bit better probably. However, I think they are a bit more creative this time.

perhaps but i think how everyone has learned of variants and such, most aren't going to be buying all of them and will focus on what they like better. for example most are opting out of the regular starter for the dark starter. some will probably opt again for toysrus legendaries instead of the regulars. if target has exclusives again of a swaplander this time, that one will most likely outsell its normal. think granite opposed to regular crusher and how legendary bouncer over regular

I agree with you other than the reposes being weak.

As far as variants or w/e I will probably still buy them all. I think they scaled them back a bit this time with Giants and not sure what they will do with Swap Force.

it's going to translate to a lot more shelf warmers and harder to move stock of certain figures so if there is legendaries and variants in wave 1 i'd suggest you make sure you get them very early because they might not be able to restock them right away

They DID release L-Chill and L-Stealth Elf before their normal counterparts, though.

itsjustme's math doesn't add up to having all content being able to be accessed, specifically having no Stealth and Dig movement types, as well as no Life and Earth Swappers. Everything else is fine, except for that.

One thing I want to stress... and this happened all through Giants... DO NOT assume you can predict what Activision will do or not do based on what they have done.

First and foremost, there's only been two games released. There's simply not enough data available to make sound decisions based on what has occurred.

Second, if Giants has shown us anything, it's that Activision cannot be predicted. How many times have you seen someone post "well, they didn't do this before" only to see Activision turn around and do it?

With Giants, we had all sorts of crazy stuff happen. Wave 2 was released in very limited quantities on Day One. We've got a figure that isn't even going to release until the next game comes out. We've got GameStop doing Sidekicks promos for figures from the last game. The randomness of what ships from the last game is interesting (Darklight Crypt comes to mind). Figures that appear normal in SSA and have alternate decoration in Giants (Polar Whirlwind, Legendary Stealth Elf, etc.). Best Buy having one of the most sought after exclusives (Volcanic Vault) to having nothing (well, crappy backpack of crap).

I have to agree. They're VERY random. Who knew that they were making a special Haloween edition of a figure?

I just wanna see my variant idea Dynamic Countdown come true, or something like it. Think Countdown in Bright red and A wee bit of black, an make his waist-clock resemble one on a cartoon stick of dynamite.

I for one love the randomness, it makes it fun.

Not a big fan of the randomness. I like to know what is coming out when so i can have money prepared and saved for it. That irritated me with Giants. Saved up for all of wave one and got em all the 1st day which used all of my free funds. Then they release wave 2 at tru the next day? No thanks. If i had known that was gonna happen i'd have saved more so i coulda gotten those as well.

Honestly, why does his love for Wind Up bother you that much? Who cares if he has an obsessive love for that character? It's not like he's hurting anyone over it! I don't see any rule that says you can't post about your favorite character, so let him be.
