It's an app that is just a collection tracking app. To be able to keep track of the items you have. Not really needed right now as there's a limited supply of figures, but as time goes on it'll be harder.

It's just like the Skylander app I have.

Some people from this site use them and have emailed me. So, was just letting them know that the new version is out.

It looks like TRU is doing a big Infinity promotion on Sept 7th. (at least in the USA, not sure about Canada)

There are going to be coupons for $20 off starter pack (makes it $55) and 30% off "Play Sets or 3-packs" and 40% off "All Disney Infinity Accessories".

The starter pack being $55 *almost* makes it tempting to buy... I am not sure that 30% off the Play Sets or 3-packs is enticing enough. I totally missed that darn Walmart 50% off sale last week.

I am not entirely sure what is classified as "All Disney Infinity Accessories"... To me that means everything except starter packs, but to TRU that could mean carrying cases & junk like that. In any case there sure seems to be a lot of sales on DI since the launch, eh?

I think it is! I went to 3 places (2 when and 1 after I bought Infinity) and none of the 3 had Violet! I was at 2 Targets and a Gamestop and all of them had the most powerful character out of stock.

We had our first shopping adventure this am. I didn't want to get DI initially because of the power discs being blind packaged and expensive but DS has loved the displays and we had a Disney store credit so finally ordered the starter pack... Now I just wish I had done the pre order. Oh well. Target had a good variety of everything but no Francesco or Lone Ranger sets. We got the incredibles and Monsters and Mater of the single characters on the sale. Then off to TRU for the sale on discs and they were out of the exclusives but had tons of everything else. DS loves toy story so I know we'll be looking forward to that one. I'll others get him the characters for his upcoming birthday and such.
I have mixed feelings about this... I don't feel compelled to buy the figures from movies I don't know, etc where I wanted to learn about each skylanders character. I'm excited for the gameplay with swapforce but I'm interested in toy box mode for DI. We'll see how all this goes...
Does anyone know if the PS3 problems have been fixed yet? Our starter park should be delivered Tuesday and I didn't know about the PS3 problems until after we ordered it...

I saw some infinity toys at target today. First time. I put lightcore eruptor on disney base and it blinked. Lol it even uses same technology.

Of course it does. The Wii U Gamepad uses the same tech. The Paris Metro uses the same tech. London Buses use the same tech. It really isn't all that uncommon.

I really kind of hope you're taking the mick. It has the same RFID technology. If you were to get a Lightcore Skylander, it would most likely glow if you put it on the Oyster Card reader on buses. The same for the Wii U Gamepad, the same for some stations at the Paris Metro etc.

You sounded surprised that the Skylanders did something on the Infinity platform, but it's the same technology... So of course they're going to do something.

So I just read an article about the Hall of heros indicating that only the currently announced characters will be joining the game..

Does anyone know if this is true? I haven't read this anywhere else and I realize they can only put so much into one game but I thought the play sets offered infinite possiblilities to add on other characters and movies. If this is true the game seems much more finite and disappointing.

They can only do playsets of things already programmed into the game. Same goes for figures. They can't add on any figure or playset for any series. The game is extrememly more finite than it originally implies.

I doubt these are the only characters, as it would be very easy to update the game and add them. Disney has even stated about updating Infinity with characters from Infinity 2 if they make one,making all characters backwards and forwards compatible.

Thanks! I hope they can add more characters and/or play sets. There are so many classic characters I'd love to see. Has anyone heard of characters beyond those planned for release this fall?

Mickey comes out in Janurary, but other than that, no, not really....Although, in the Hall of Heroes there is a podium for every character, even the crystal ones. Yet there are still 6 podiums without a name or actual purpose.....Maybe they might surprise us with those?
