I don't time travel but the new Alter Ego should be available Friday night and in that case its data should be part of this update. (hint hint). Look over here! Screenshots!

Just a heads up. The Cape Girl timed quest counts empty chompy pods.

Please post how many gems you get as a reward for the Cape Girl quest!

Ever since Ruggles and all the Shrine rewards I've been flush with Wishin' Stone. I've already earned 700 this month (up from 350-400). I just wish I need the retired Alter Egos. I'm probably just going to get 2-3 more Halls of Legend this weekend.

I'm still getting 350-400 stones/month. I need more shrines, I guess.

That should be the case so the data for it should already be downloaded. People should be able to time travel to peek at it now. When my wife gets home I'll try it on her phone since I'll be at PAX this weekend and probably won't get a chance to blog about it.

So I'm assuming its the same ridiculous percentage to win one of these alts as it has been to win a shrine? I'm all for trying if its practical, 1 in 600 chance I'll pass and wait for the new monthly since I'm assuming the quest will have a shrine with it.

Since the info was only available in a loading screen, Ermit will be coming out this weekend to cut the time it takes to collect from your Sanctuaries in half.

So, do we have any Time Travelers here? I bet it's Autumn Stump Smash.

But it says he's "only appears during special occasions". Does that mean we can only get him then, or he only works then?

Only appears on special occasions? He better not cost that much, then. (Actually, he better not cost that much no matter what, or I won't be getting him.)

I don't think he's going to be a companion that you buy rather a bonus that only work when he's in town.

The loading screen has nothing to do with time travel.

Looks like Ermit will be a temporary companion, he costs 1200 gems, so he's not cheap. Also, looks like the #1 fans will be "leaving to join the swap force" soon, so if you haven't got them and you want them, be sure to pick them up.

The next alter ego is autumn stump smash, available from the 1st onwards, save up those stones guys.

Wait, they are actually expecting people to pay for a companion that may or may not be around? I stand corrected (and upset).

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant that hell be up for offer for a limited time. If you don't get him then, he won't show up again for who knows how long. So if you do purchase him for the 1200 gems, you'll have him permanently, if not, you might not get another chance.

I think the chompy invasion has started. Ive had five spawns in the last hour.

And the answer is... three. That so wasn't worth it. I let troll/sheep mobs accumulate all week since pretty much every week has a quest for them on Monday so once I cleared them it wasn't long before I had it done.

On a different note, I spent most of my 230 million plus gold. I now have a Mabu population of just under 57K. Here's hoping there are some good buildings in the pipeline.

So, any guesses which Giantkick we get next Monday?

OK. No real reason to rush out and get cape girl then!

I'm really disappointed to hear Ermit is another expensive companion rather than a special for the weekend. Double wish stones too this weekend... If only they would do double gems.

True, I hadn't considered that it might be random. Have any of the quest payouts been random before?

If the swap force is coming to the islands why would the companions be leaving?

I think it means you can't buy sidekicks for a while starting this weekend.

I couldn't agree more. We keep getting repeats of the same elements.

Further, I think odds are pretty good that October will be Undead.

Also, I am a bit disappointed there was no quest surrounding Trigger Snappy's House.

Can anyone confirm if the Gill Runt quest works for "empty" pods?

Yes, it works for inactive pods.

One final Super Tuesday dilemma. All these pods have left me an amazing number of gold chests still waiting to be opened. Seven sitting idle in fact, and the day isn't over quite yet. With only three giants able to be released from duty to start cracking those chains before day's end, are the remaining chests going to vanish in a puff of smoke?

I'm almost considering time travel to make up for missing the first nine hours of Super Tuesday, but I don't even know how to go about it. (I know how to change the time, but I don't know what effect it will actually have on the skylanders in use and the state of the save game not having done it before).

Chest don't disappear. You can slowly cycle them without fear.

Do the chompies still spawn when you are not there?

It is after midnight here and still they come, I just want to know what I will wake up to.

Some people do appear to lose their chests overnight (Woz has had that experience). I'm not getting any gold chests--are you clearing with a sidekick? That's likely my problem (since I don't have one yet).

I used a sidekick to clear mine and am getting quite a few gold chests as a result so it's probably linked

The only lost chests I am aware of happened with the troll invasion I think. It was also special Giant day so maybe the chests disappeared when giant day was over. I've gotten more chests than usual the last 2 days but not too many gold chests. I hope they stay for you.

For the record I woke up with 4 chompies and still running.

Ok, here's the skinny. The gold chests didn't disappear. Not only that, but well after midnight, the chompie invasion just kept rolling on and so did even more gold chests.

However, I was nodding off in bed while propping up the iPad, and must have double tapped a sanctuary with my eyes closed. Sanctuary collect icon - and I'm out of pocket 100 gems for inadvertently hurrying production. I tried force closing the app, but the game had immediately saved to the cloud.

I'd pay 1000 gems in a heartbeat for a companion who adds the ability to disable all hurry production buttons.

No, sorry if I gave that impression. I've never lost gold chests, but read with concern other threads where other players have. Since Super Tuesday was drawing to a close, and I had heaps of chests I couldn't get to, I was a touch nervous.

I got a quest for Trigger Snappy house. It ended on Sunday, I think. I don't remember if it was a series, but the last one to complete was to collect from the house 10 times.

If you watch the game closely when you open it back up from the background, your island elements - trolls, sheep, building status, totems, etc. - are exactly as they were when you minimized the game. Then the game re-renders all the items based on the current time and brings up the sheep messages. This occurs regardless of wifi connectivity.

This is the behavior of most apps on iOS - when they are not the active app, they are not processing. I have seen a few apps that have background processing (Striiv, for example) that continually run even when minimized and drain your battery very efficiently at the same time.

This is a long answer to your question. The short answer is no, they don't spawn when you're not playing. The game must have some algorithm to determine what/how many to spawn when you start the game up.

The disappearing act performed by Gold Chests seemed to only happen with Gold Chest spawned by that particular Super Tuesday boost.

I've done that before too! I got so mad I almost quit the game. Who in the world would ever "hurry up" just about anything in exchange for gems? Would have to be some incredible timed payout at the end to justify it...
