There is no mode called "choas" mode, nor is that a word. If you are referring to "Kaos", the main villain, who represents Nightmare Mode, then just play like you usually do.

Giants other then swarm are pretty slow - small, faster characters dominate.

Yeah, you want fast and dodging... Big giants become mincemeat in the big group fights. And be prepared for a lot of deaths (personally I didn't initially try to get the 3 stars for levels, ignored the No Lives Lost and speed runs). My Stealth Elf was quite effective. Fast and strong, flipping around the enemies. Remember some bigger enemies can kill in 2 hits, maybe 1.
And yeah... The word is "Chaos" The enemy is "Kaos" The mode is "Nightmare"

Indeed. It's actually quite challenging at points if you have characters that can't avoid hits.
Drow Lancers do 200 damage. Blitzer Bullies do like 300...

And Arkeyan Shield Juggernauts do close to 400.

Actually, that's not true. Ninjini, with max speed, without a hat, sits at 108 speed. Then you can just add an additional 6 speed with the Knight Helm, or 12 speed with the Winged Hat, for a total of 114 or 120 speed.

My advice? Unless you want to challenge yourself, use any and all items you have consistantly (Adventure pack blasts saved my posterior more than once), and if you want the 'no deaths' star like I did (or avoid it to save yourself a lot of grief), make sure you switch out ANY critical Characters.
Furthermore, you want characers who're fast, powerful, and able to attack on the move (one of my strategies was to run away from em, usually Arkeyan Duelists while loudly saying "Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope!"). The ambush attacks can prove quite deadly, the name of your game is "Hit/run".
