I got two of the four new sidekick and the came with a code for lost island and they said they can be used for it but when you put it on the portal it does not do anything.

They don't have a purpose in the mobile apps yet.

As of now, the codes for the Sidekicks and some of the Magic Items (depends on which mobile game), are used for nothing.

I'll ask a dumb question. Who are the sidekicks? I know about the magic items.

The Sidekicks are a series of 8 figures which were available through various Frito Lay promotions. The count as Magic Items in the games, but don't do anything other than run around your Skylander.

Gamestop was giving away the first series of Sidekicks back in June.

I didn't know. How do you know these things are happening?

I read read www.portalflip.com, your #1 source for Skylanders news delivered by a site called portalflip.

(Shameless plug aside, Gamestop advertised it in one of their circulars.)

I would have probably missed out anyway. It was the end of June before I could drive that far.

Owing to a shoulder injury I've been out of action since January hence the addiction to the game.

Then why have codes.

They have codes incase they add them later or need them for new games (plus they where supposed to work in universe, witch was shut down).

I went to game stop & they had all sold out. Meh. They'll probably be a lot more widely available eventually. They're coming to lost islands next week. What do you think they'll be able to do in the game? I hope they'll just get added as another skylander who we can level up as normal. And I hope we can buy them with a spin. They'll probably just give a bonus like the no.1 fans which will be disappointing.

We have whisper elf and just got Thumpling and Eye-Small. I hope they would be new characters to level up but as long as I can enter my codes I'll take characters or bonuses. I just don't wanna spend gems on them.

If we have to spend gems to get them & they only give a bonus, I'll be waiting until I buy the figurine & can enter a code.

If they work the same as other codes, you can buy them with gems now, and later on, if you get the figurines, the game will give you your gems back when you enter the code. I did that with Crusher, and the game automatically gave my 150 gems back when I entered the code. (I spent gems on him him when he was half price). For those with a portal, you probably don't even need to enter the code.

I won't ever pay gems for one anyway, I'll just pay for the spin or throw the wish stones.

I now have all sidekicks. And they are coming next week to the lost island game.

Not to be a Debby Downer but as of right now we only know of the original 4 Sidekicks coming to Lost Islands. Nothing has been teased or advertised about the new series of Sidekicks being added. If the new Giant Sidekicks are indeed being added I find it odd that they weren't part of the teaser ad.

I missed the side kicks owing to being virtually housebound for 6 months.

I'm on level 35.

I will have 75 of 75 characters tomorrow and am on 110 gems.

I average 2 gems a day including Hyde.

How on earth am I meant to find gems to pay for the side kicks?

And now you've reached the Freemium part of the game.

I've spent a few bucks on the game since I've been playing for so long but now I'm at a point where I earn quite a few Gems. Last month I earned somewhere between 700-800 and that number should keep going up with Ruggles and more houses added to my islands. The houses are key to generating Gems.

How are you getting a 75th Skylander? I'm at 74 with everything that's been released AFAIK.

I see one gem payout a week and that is not each.

My 14yo is not allowed in app purchases so it would not be fair in the spirit of competition in this house if I were to get some.

My kids aren't either, so I unlock the feature, buy it with my itunes card, they give me the cash, then I lock it again. As long as they don't have the ipad's restrictions password and my itunes password, they can't buy it themselves.

Back when Skylanders Universe was still running, you could use those codes for the original 4 sidekicks and register your sidekicks as part of your collection on a PC too. They didnt do anything in game, but might have given you some in app money or points at the time.

Two gems a day? Seriously? I average at least 20 gems each day and I don't have a single usable house. (I won Hot Head's house, but I don't have Hot Head). I have 54 friends tied to my Lost Islands, and I'd say 40 of those actively gift. That's worth about five gems a day right there. Then I visit ALL 54 friends whether they gift or not. With three 'gifts' to collect from each player by visiting, that's over 160 gifts, netting probably another 15 gems easy.

I'm not counting gems from quests, gems from sanctuaries thanks to Ruggles, gems from Wizard Trolls (admittedly rare), and gems from special events such as when Orville hands them out every hour (and that's happened more than once).

Food for thought.

How to add friends and visit. Please help.

I only have about 8 active "friends" and another 10-12 inactive ones. If anyone wants to add me, I'm midas73 in the game too.

I rarely get gems as gifts from friends (maybe one every couple of days) and I've had about the same luck when I visit their islands (which takes forever so I rarely do it). I still get a bunch of kingdom XP, which is totally worthless since I'm already at level 35.

I tried to add you but couldn't find you. Is it case-sensitive? You can search obidawsn to add me (that goes for anyone looking for new friends)

I'm in the same boat as you with visiting friends. I've seen people wonder why people don't do it. I tried, but it just wasn't worth all the hassle, especially since it will crash several times while you do it.

I did an Activate search for your name, but couldn't find you. Are you playing on mobile or iPad? Alternatively, go to the people button, click on add friend, and in the search panel, type in "woz". Then click on the invite me to play button. It doesn't matter which direction the invite comes from. Once sent and accepted, both players have a new friend added.

OK. Received the invite. Accepted the invite. Sent your first gift, which helpfully is always a gem on the first go. The number in the shield tells you what level your friend's kingdom is, and you hit the orange "Visit" button to visit that friend. Wander around the friend's islands, find and click on the three smiling faces for your three free random gifts each day, and then go back home in the bottom right corner.

How to gift and stuff I'm confused.

Joe. Man do you have a lot of energy fields! To send a gift, touch the menu on the bottom right of the screen (I mean the banner). The second icon shows two...people? There might be an exclamation point next to it. Touch that and you will go to the social screen. Each of your friend is listed with a visit option on the left and a gift option on the right. You can send a gift every 22 or so hours and can receive one on the same schedule (assuming your friend sends one). You can also visit their islands, where you can look around at their setup but you don't impact anything. There will also be three smiley faces sticking up from buildings. Those are "party invitations". Click on those for an additional small gift (either 300 something in coins, 300 something in kingdom XP, 100 something energy or, rarely, a gem). You can send new invitations every day as well. That's it. There's really no direct interaction with the friends. It's just another way to click the screen on occasion and get some rewards.

Visiting is the left button. Gifting is the right button. On the left, orange means you're ready to visit, while blue means you've already done it for the day. On the right, the blue button means you can send a gift. Once you've sent your gift, it will change colour to grey, and the button will say "sent" instead of "send". The clock will countdown until the time until you're able to send again.

Sounds like you found a few tonight already. If you scroll through this forum, you'll find a topic about adding friends with dozens of players saying "here's my name, add me too!" Just invite them the same way you did me.

I just visited 15 of my friends and only 1 gem That's why it's not worth it, to me. at least it didn't crash. So maybe they fixed it.

Agreed. Very rarely do I get gems on visits, but I do usually get one from gifts so that's well worth it.

It is nice to visit some new islands to see how y'all have things set up though!

Joe, I just did a search for Joe McKinsey and found you (or who I assume is you). That's what's listed as your game name, too.

Edit: I'm sure it's you as I see what midas is talking about. You do have lots of energy fields. I assume you have a lot of radiant energy fields as I'm maxed out on energy fields and don't have near that many. Would be nice for Ruggles, though.
