Considering how long you have been collecting for there's been a pattern now we can almost assume that certain characters will fall into from the waves of releases. Some will just be if you see them in any shape or form now you should go out and collect. Debatable sure but I think there's going to be several listed here that will be that much harder to find.
Bash - He's going to be the next boomer. Very low quantities during wave 2 and a slight appearance in wave 5 boxes? His price on amazon and ebay auctions should be a clear indication that if and when that triple pack comes out that it will be just as valuable like the one Boomer was in for SA. He also plays well and it seems he got overlooked in shipments by TFB/Acti. The fact that Terrafin did get an S3 and now we know that Flashwing got the Lightcore, it's possible he might not be the other return for an S3 which is going to make his price higher than now.
Anything Legendary in name that relates to giants - Lightcore Chill, Stealth Elf and the Slam Bam, Jet Vac, Ignitor triple, Bouncer
Variants - Granite, Scarlet, Jade, Molten, Polar.
Pearl Variants - Hot head, Sonic Boom, Sprocket.
The purple variants that are like the clears of SA but show up as special in game but highly doubtable they'll have in game appearance change like the other variants listed. If anyone hunts for these I wouldn't make it a priority as to how late in the game they are appearing that most likely you'll have better luck in the hunt finding them when SF comes out.
Due to how the release has been of other normal figures, will there be any others that fit the high price tag this time around?

Bash isn't gonna be the Boomer; Boomer was overstocked everywhere.
Bash will be re-released.

I would say whatever doesn't make it to swap force will be whats rare and it also depends how much of that item still exist stock wise etc.

None of those items will exist in stock immediately upon a full release of swap force figures thanks to scalpers. All "retired" corelander figures will be wiped off of the shelves in 24 hours. But, I think we will see plenty of the actual giants on shelves for a long time.

We won't know for sure until we know the full list of "series 3" characters. Then we can determine which "old" (series 1 and 2) characters will be "retired" and not given a new pose/figure in the Swap Force line-up.
However, you're right OP, about all the store-exclusive variants from series 2. Granite Crusher, Legendary Bouncer, etc. ... these characters' value will continue to climb throughout the rest of 2013.

Here is something to remember about collectibles - they only ramp up greatly in value if the rarity is unexpected. In other words, trying to plan it out is inherently flawed. The ones people think will be high value get saved for resale later, increasing the volume, decreasing the price. Take comic books for example, what is one of the highest value ones - Action Comics #1 (Superman introduced). What makes it valuable? There are not very many of them. Why? Moms everywhere threw comic books out when kids got older thinking they were trash, there are only a few of them around anymore. A guy just recently found one of those showed in the wall as insulation in an old house he was restoring. These days a lot more people realize comic books are worth something, therefore they hang on to them and take care of them. And that makes them worth less, more copies available = lower price.
Boomer and Darklight Crypt - no one expected them to ever be worth anything. Last year there were times when they were all you could find on the shelves. In addition, TFB/Activision aren't dumb, if something is highly desired from the previous game, they might do another run (like with the Camo 3 pack) or do a repose in the next game (like Boomer). There are way too many people that packed away Granite Crushers, Molten Hot Dogs, etc. thinking they were going to score later on. Many people bought them in multiples. Don't get me wrong, they will be worth more than their shelf price, but not dramatically more - at least not in the next year or so. Even Boomer and Darklight Crypt are not ridiculously high prices - maybe only a couple times their shelf value if you look around and don't just jump on the first auction. |

That's a good point, Defpally. Truly, it's not possible to predict future rarity with a high degree of certainty.
However, it is possible to make educated guesses about future value. I would be very surprised if Granite Crusher (just an example) new-in-box isn't selling for $75 by December. That's five times its original retail price. I would estimate that Molten Hot Dog will sell for roughly $40 new-in-box by December. That's four times its original retail price. I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Here is my prediction:
Swarm will be the next Boomer and here is why: The last 2 waves of Giants do not have him and once SF comes out, more kids will jump on the Skylanders band wagon and want the giants but will only be able to get the ones that are in the last couple of waves. There is a 99.99% change that he will not be reposed in SF. If you exclude the true Giants then I would say that Fright Rider will be the next boomer. My 3rd option would be Shroom Boom My reason for this is because they are not getting reposed as S2 in SF. |

I have a feeling by december this year you'll probably be right about granite crusher and molten. Granite's light up is pretty cool and he's actually very useful and so is molten. I keep my figures sealed for now and both I've used more than once for playstyle. Even jade is very good given certain circumstances. Quote: dinoah2005
All of these follow basically how many of them had a great supply. No one predicited that Boomer or Darklight Crypt would be worth much and it's really possible how Swarm is that he came in early that he will be much value later as well. It's always those later adopters that try to seek out either seemingly less interesting figures or popular of the time which causes the inflation. Those figures that don't have as much circulation and are released in earlier waves. Granite Crusher would be a safe bet and some of the other variants like Molten hot dog or even polar. What's funny is the ones acti/tfb picked for reposes because some I would think didn't deserve it over those that didn't and became the forgotten 8. Ghost roaster, sunburn and wham shell actually do very well combat wise and are that fun to play with, including Boomer, but many miss out since they were and are for the moment retired. This is why I feel Bash might fit into that as well. Also in how a character plays factors into it. I do like bash's wow pow simply because it works well to in a way jump in the regular consoles out of the way out of attacks and deal a lot of damage. He might not get a s3. There's a high possibility especially from what types they did release he might not even though he's a good skylander. You see more prism breaks for example. One thing that seems to go up though is the legendary triple packs that toys r us puts out. Those should be a day one purchase if they're done again.

I'm betting Sprocket or Boomer. The kiddies think Sprocket is ugly looking. Swarm was never that appealing.
