I feel like dumb for not buying darklight crypt and pirate seas when they first came I thought they will always be around but I was wrong !!!!! Its hard for me cause I don't live in the US where target and others are reliable sources to go instead I live in freaking ASIA ! WHERE EVERY COOL SKYLANDERS COME AND GO !!!!!! And ebay is crazy high price together with Amazon I mean $200 dollars for darklight crypt are you serious !?

I still see Pirates Seas here and there (Hit and Miss - More Misses than Hits), but no Crypt since February.

OMG, don't try to compare the other Adventure Packs with Darklight Crypt! They actually ship out the other 3 together on occasion... The boxes they come in to the stores in hold 6 packs, and they're ALWAYS 2 each of the other 3, apparently. THAT is what makes Darklight Crypt so rare, it may not have been shipped out since before Giants! Or at least since before Christmas. Just because you can find the other 3 says nothing about DC.

Speaking of Darklight Crypt, is the box worth anything?

I finally got convinced by my kids to open it, which was done with care to leave an almost totally undamaged box.

Worth eBaying the packaging on its own?

lol Im not sure about that people are still willing to pay for loose figures on ebay

Anybody from Texas ? I have a relative in Texas Austin U.S.A who might help me buy from any local stores like target and walmart anybody seen darklight crypt there ?

Get it from Japan.
Since there are more of it, the price should be going down.

If you live in Asia, you might end up finding Darklight Crypt more easily, now that it's just being released in Japan. They're pretty much non-existent in the US. I see Pirate Seas all the time, though. Probably because Terrafin is more common and Sunburn and even Slam Bam aren't.

Can I ask a quick question since I know mostly you guys are from the states have you guys seen any darklight crypts anywhere in 2013 because I went to target online put in texas and Austin it said in stock on a specific location on the map in target so im not sure how real is this but I really do hope so in that case I can ask my relative to help me grab one

Ask them to go there, and ask an employee if they have any left in the back. It still can be found, but I suspect less than 20 are left in stores around the world.

Darklight Crypt has been absent from retail stores in the USA for about 3-4 months now. I saw a few back in March/April, and none since ... anywhere.

If you want a Darklight Crypt, I'd say your best bets are ....

1. scour your local Craigslist. You have to check frequently, and you have to respond right away, and you have to be willing to meet the Seller's price, most likely.
2. find someone here on DarkSpyro who would be willing to trade with you. You'll have to do that privately in messages, since "WTB/WTS/WTT" types of posts are forbidden in this forum. You'll have to be patient and polite with a lot of people who you don't know in order for this to work ... but it's worth a shot perhaps.
3. suck it up and pay the exorbitant prices on Ebay/Amazon ... they're only going to continue climbing higher throughout 2013, especially as the holiday season approaches.
4. look for Facebook/Twitter/YouTube giveaways ... sure your chances aren't high for winning ... but what's better than free? Worth a shot, probably, unless you're anti-social-media (some people are).
5. don't be ashamed of buying used Skylanders! Many Ebay and Craigslist sellers' items are in excellent or even "like new" condition. Sure, it's not "in the box" ... but it's usually half the cost or less. Don't forget to look for misspellings, especially on Ebay. Not uncommon for some careless Sellers to have bad typos in their listings, and those usually sell for less, just because most Buyers aren't seeing the item in search results.
6. pray? I'm not a religious person ... but you will need some luck on your side to land a Darklight Crypt.


Activision has been shipping Empire of Ice / Dragon's Peak / Pirate Seas to Wal-Marts and Targets still, nationwide, throughout 2013 ... so you really should not have trouble picking those up. But Darklight Crypt is in its own league.

Unfortunately, the way Target stocks/inventories their Skylanders, all four Adventure Packs are under the same internal stock number. So if you call up a Target and give the sales rep the stock number, s/he might say "sure we have that in stock" ... but then you get to the store and find Empire of Ice instead. Target's website and even in-store computer inventory/database is notoriously inaccurate. You really can not depend on their website or a phone call for stock/inventory checks on rare Skylanders items. It sucks, due to time and gas spent, but the only way to check inventory at Target is to go to the store, in general. And even if you drove to a dozen Targets, you probably are not going to find Darklight Crypt. You might ... but I would estimate your chance is around 1%. That's why people are willing to pay $150 or $200 on Ebay for a brand new Crypt pack. I think it's ridiculous ... but it's really very simple free market economics ... supply and demand.

You can try Craigslist, that's how i got my Loose Darklight Crypt Adventure Pack for $10 (Everything Included) and a Brand New for $40.

Since I was gonna open it anyway, I'm going the route of buying used pieces.

What I've gotten:
Time Twister $6
Magic Elixir $6
Darklight Crypt $21 (being shipped to me)

Overall total: $32 I'm still waiting to see if Ghost Roaster gets a repose before going for a cheap one of him.

I saw a pile of darklight crypts in jan. Those were gone by Feb 1st.

since the enghish version was done 2 years ago and the japonese few months ago it wont

All figures have the same RFID chip in them, so they all have the same data.

Well i got my from amazon Italy a few months ago but it didn't speak italian but if you did get a skylander in Japan the card is gonna be in japanese if that matters to you.

At least I have 2 extras! I was gonna give one to a friend, but he got a good deal on a loose set: $15 at a garage sale.

Good thing I got the crypt and boomer before they all started falling like fruit flies.

They didn't fall like fruit flies; they fell like a pigeon hit by a car.
They both were UBER (very) common and were both shunned by their ugly appearances.
Boomer just looked plain ugly to most, and kids were afraid of Ghost Roaster.

I thought Ghost Roaster looked pretty cool. Scaredy cat kids.

My 7 year old loves Ghost Roaster! It's his favourite character.
Not sure if he loves him so much purely for bragging rights "he is cool because he is rare" or he actually likes the figure, but either way, he nagged me to death to open the pack and not keep it sealed.

Speaking of i just got this on craigslist for $40 that's everything on the picture.

Lol it's ok, i already have Dark, Legendary and S2 Spyro, im ok with the 3 Spyro's LOL

I've found 2 darklight crypts in the wild at target before!

Do any of you think that the other adventure packs will become rare also? Because im seeing fewer and fewer of even the common ones in stores.

Prob. I think it was stated somewhere they dont work in swap force?

WHY do people keep making this mistake and asking this question? I must have explained how it works 10 times, and nobody told me, I figured it out. I really don't get why it's so hard for people to understand how this technology works...

Well---I would guess that it isn't that hard for most people to understand--I think it's a normal question. But I think people don't take the time to read back in the thread. I have read your posts answering this several times in other threads--it's frustrating I am sure...but I believe it is unintentional.

Just checked my local craigslist & found nothing... i might just shell out for the BNIB... i have an obsession with needing the stickers & cards for my son's poster & card collection.

LOL well when i go skylander hunting he's either with me or sleeping cuz its 1am & i just got off work & feel the need to go check wal-mart for new skylanders lol & his favorite part(aside from playing with them) is putting the stickers on his poster! so that's why i do it instead of buying the $6 a piece loose ones slowely over time.

They will work in Swap-Force, they just won't unlock the level.

Considering their "main" purpose is unlocking the level, I would agree that means they "Don't work".

What I mean is, their "rain boom" will work, it just won't unlock the level. It will work, but only half of the item.
