Quote: Tel PrydainActually, it's quite likely to be worth something in about 25-30 years, when the kids who are obsessed now are adults with money who want to recapture their youth. Just like GI Joe, TMNT, Starwars and Transformers can fetch a good price now.
It's highly unlikely. Do you know how many toy franchises came out in the 80's, versus how many franchises people actually care to spend money on for nostalgia's sake, as adults? Not everything old becomes new again. Added to that, the main appeal of Skylanders is that they're components for a video game (that will have been long since obsolete decades from now), in addition to being neat little static figures.
Anyway, as UncleBob posted, I wouldn't recommend to anyone that they buy these, or
any current toy for that matter, for long-term investment purposes. Especially not as a 25 - 30 year investment. Where are you going to store all these "just in case" items, in the meantime? People would be better off investing in actual financial investments, like an IRA, 401k, etc.
