I have to say though, it's a bit fishy that CindyBeans has found BOTH of the new variants so far. And we haven't seen them on the shelves yet. Now I'm not saying they're not real (as Chris confirmed that they were) but....maybe these aren't supposed to be out for a while. This'd reasonably explain why there's no other ones on ebay or whatever, and since it seems like CindyBeans has got an in with a rep or distributor, it'd explain why she has them as well.

So, what we're probably looking at here is a group of stuff that's not supposed to be out for a while...maybe in a few weeks. It's not too out of the ballpark; people have posted before about knowing when special edition figures have come out before (and of course, we all thank you for that) so maybe she was tipped off by someone, and was able to buy the figures ahead of their regular launch.

Personally, I'd love to buy a box of figures. I know that Hot Wheels used to do that where you could buy them direct from Mattel, and they had Opening Days at K-mart where you were entered into a raffle with other customers on a Saturday and were able to win a box to open. Since the demand for Skylanders continues to drive up, I hope someone maybe passes this along to their higher ups and tries to schedule and event like this. That way, people not only get a good chance at finding a variant, but when new characters are released, they also have a chance at getting them.

EDIT: As for the triple packs..maybe these are actually like..Wave 5.2? There could be a mixture of old and new figures in the wave..since Lrod and Wrecks are in different waves (or at least their triple packs are). We can assume that at least 2/3 will probably also be available in the triple packs right?

And yeah it is unusual that CindyBeans got them both first, but at this point I don't think stores get in new cases in the quantities they once did. My Target was overflowing with Cynders and Flashwings, probably limiting new stock. The game is 10 months old, after all. I would attribute it to luck more than anything, looks like they got in a decent number of cases to look through.

Any appeal this variant may have had is lost to me without the lower tusks/teeth. I assume she just took one photo and is using that for multiple listings, but I'm wondering if this is a defect, or if all the figures come like this. If the latter, I have no interest what so ever.

In seriousness now, it's established that Activision doesn't sell/distribute direct to small-time merchants. So, if Cindy Beans really does have brand new unopened cases of assorted Skylanders in her garage/warehouse, then she's either ...
A ) buying them "hot"
B ) importing them wholesale from China or another international market
C ) has an "inside connection" at a retailer's distribution site (hence the "sleeping with someone" reference), or
D ) has an "inside connection" at a retailer's storefront location that allows her to piggy-back her order onto the storefront's larger order from Activision.

Regardless, it's very sketchy. And until we see these "blurple" variants being sold by someone or someplace that is not sketchy, I'm still casting doubt on their authenticity. And you all should, too.

Which would be a real shame for those of us with tiny collectors (our kids/relatives we collect with). The game is meant for kids and kids can't enjoy the thrill of finding a variant at a decent price because of scalpers. Some of us can't afford to drop 400+ bucks on a single figure. Pity that there are people in the world who take advantage of something as minuscule in the world as Skylanders. I'd hate to see what scalpers would do with things that would make a real difference in the world, like clean water, or world peace.

It's a bummer--my son is online and sees the new chase figures and wants them. He would be so amazingly excited to get one and if he found one--now that would be a happy experience for him. I honestly don't know anybody that would spend that kind if money on a $10.00 figure. Now, if someone does--that's their prerogative. It's just not something that works for most people regardless of being able to afford it or not.

Take a gander at the Kenner Star Wars toys: They were made in 1976, they were about $5.00 or so for one.

Now, they're EXTREMELY valuable, worth about $1,000+++ for ONE.'


Value goes up as time passes, but if something is early, the price is set. EXCEPT if the price is $400 like Cindy-Scalpers here.
Look at the Silvers: $50 when they were out. Now? $200+.

I don't understand all these people upset with the price she's charging for the figure and how she's keeping you/your children from getting one.

I'm pretty sure that if anyone here wanted to order 200 cases of Skylanders, it could probably be arranged with a few phone calls to the right people. If you don't like what she's charging, you can order your own 200 cases. And give them all to your children.
