How many people would preorder every figure to be sold for Swap Force (at full price) to have access to all the Swap Force variants (one of each)?

I would have last year, but don't think so this time.

I would with one additional thought--we collect two sets--one to open and one to keep unopened. So, i'd preorder one set and still enjoy the family hunting for the others smilie

I would not, but only because I would like the opportunity to take advantage of sales. I have to make it cost-effective at some point.

I wouldn't, I mean, it would be tempting, but then what's the point?

I agree, it would take the fun out of it.

I would. No hunting for stores that sold out before they hit the shelves. No exclusives to stores I can't get to. No ebay. Give me a flat price preorder and direct ship every figure on release. Done. I'd still browse for chase variants.

I think Activision needs to make a way for us serious Skylanders fans - ie no scalpers who care only about money - to get a hold of these. Maybe do a limited release of them that can be gotten straight from an Activision website, which you have to preorder them. Activision could even charge a slight markup for them (maybe 20 or 30 instead of 10).

This would help those who value the chase variants actually get them, because I see old beat up looking females (sorry I really hate scalpers) getting many a boxes of them, just for the sole purpose of getting the chase variants to sell at extremely stupid prices.

Like I've said before, ALL of my local stores now know there may be "treasure" figures in the boxes, so they open the boxes in the back and remove that figure, while putting the rest on the shelf. I've seen this plenty of times in the supposed fresh cases brought out for me to open (ie re-open). I would notice figures missing. However, I say nothing, because it would boil down to "he said, she said."

I've actually thought about getting rid of my Giants chase variants, despite the fact they register as "Special" just for the reasoning that it's stupid impossible to get them without having to resort to extortion prices.

If I did do that, I would never collect another chase variant.... EVER! I would stick to characters listed on the poster, plus Legendaries, Ingame Variants, etc.

It's something I've been thinking about. I hate how the variants with this game have always been handled.

I like the ideas Gamemaster--would be nice to have a reasonable way for collectors to get them. It's not "fair." Now nobody said it would be fair to begin with--but it'd sure be nice. Every time there is a way to make extra money--someone will figure out a way around the rules.

I like the way that Amazon handled their Flameslinger variant... Set at RRP AND shipped worldwide... Decent stock... Easy enough to get while being collectible. Activision should do something similar, and limit it to one per address. I think store exclusive are a decent idea as well, but they need to release them outside of America.

I would definitely pay for every figure at $14 each for all the variants... You would be dumb to turn down such resell profits (you only need to sell a few to make back the entire amount you paid)

All I know is, the way Skylanders variants are packaged and handled, means they hardly make it to the floor. You have to have an oblivious worker working at the time, for someone to get lucky. In the state I live in, free market reigns, and even the resident old timers will step on any kids' foot in order to make extra money off of toys. While the citizens of the city I live in can come together in any time of need, when there isn't a natural disaster, everyone's mentality here is every man and woman for themself.

In other words, I haven't seen a chase variant on the shelf since January 2012, when there was a lone Gold Chop Chop on the shelf, in a Walmart whose electronics is ran by old women who wouldn't know they're holding a figure that is worth money. Ever since, a younger person is working there now, and it's a no go, just like everywhere else.

I just think chase variants should be scrapped altogether. Hasbro handles chase variants well. I've said that before. They're obscure, but easy to find with a little bit of looking.

I've been talking to a person I sold my SSA variants to, about buying my Giants variants. If he doesn't respond by today, I plan on listing them, because it's too much hassle, and I hate hassles. I'd rather throw said hassle out of the window and sit on a cool grand or so, while never needing to worry about chase variants again.

Infact, if I get rid of my chase variants, I would have a proper place for my Ingame variants, so I can put their cards behind them. However, that would mean I need to find something else to sit on the my portal displays.
