I don't suppose anyone knows if there's a level (map) editor for Skylanders SSA or Giants?
Since I've played and finished both games countless times, it would be nice to play some fan made maps, it would even be refreshing to play some more user made heroic challenges.
Of course the ability to add new maps could only happen on PC or a softmodded Wii.
Does anyone know what software was used to create the maps for these games?

Would it be hard to aquire the tools for this?
I remember any game made with the Quake III (I'm really showing my age here! LOL) engine could easily be edited using Q3Edit. I have made dozens of levels in the past for Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force and Return to Castle Wolfenstien.

I'm not talking about hacking in a sense that would 'destroy' the game for Toys for Bob or Activision. Other games in the past (Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, Warcraft III) have included level editors in their games to openly encourage an 'editing' community, which in return attracts more players to the game.
It's not like I'm talking about breaking the code to allow people to play the game without having to purchase Skylander figures, nor am I talking about trying to reverse engineer the Portal of Power. Think about it... the ability to add fan made PvP arenas or fan made story levels would be a HUGE positive for these games.

What you are asking for should be a feature in the Skylanders Game...aka what they are doing with Infinity with Toy Box mode. Once Activision releases that, and provides the tools for creating levels etc....you'll be good.
Unfortunately, they don't allow for this....and afaik to mod the game like this would be essentially changing the source code of the product or the supplying meta files.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed. |
