What's so hard to pop a character in and off a portal?

Nothing, this is just even more convenient - especially if you have a lot of Skylanders. You can fit 8 characters on the expansion at once, so that can fill the quote for one character of each element which is convenient if you're following the idea of switching to a Skylander of the element of the area you're in. |

It's ironic if this sells, because it means that anyone who buys it doesn't WANT "portal interactivity," but would be happier with a streamlined approach to be able to switch Skylanders at the touch of a button.
And honestly, with the ITEMS, I'd prefer it if you didn't need to use the Portal - half of the items and things like the "location attacks" I'll never bother to use; they're too tedious to activate. Just put them on the portal once at the start of each new play session to add them to a temporary inventory list. You'd be able to use them more conveniently, and they wouldn't lose sales by making it any easier to "artifact share". (Now if they made an elaborate "Core of Light" that could display and activate all 99 Giants figures without ever needing to move them from their proper placement spots, I might invest in THAT. Even though it'd probably have an interface that'd look like a Battleship game to use. "D-4! You sank my Thumpback!") |

I wonder if anything will glitch up when you put the GITD Portal on there, since it's known for a VERY slow data transfer time, and loss of money, upgrades, and hats.

No way I'll ever get this. If there was no use for the Portal of Power, there's no more interactivity with the toys unless all 8 Skylanders die and you need to set up new ones. Same with magic items. Nice concept, but it'll just bore me to death.

The interactivity with the toys isn't taking them on and off the portal, it's being able to store what that character is on the figure and take it somewhere with you - that aspect hasn't changed at all by the portal expansion. |

Seems really strange that this thing has been out for over 3 months and you cannot find it online to purchase anywhere. You would think someone in Canada would buy it and put it on on Ebay Canada, but nope. You would think that someone living in USA near the Canada border would pick some of these up and bring them back to USA and put them on Ebay here, but nope. This really has me puzzled???????

EXACTLY. I usually have some upgrading / chore in mind, and putting them all there means I don't have to get up (again, in my config it's not convenient for my set up as I need another 3ft on my portal of power so it's always a move to the TV moment to switch out.

Maybe i'll drive to canada. it's like 7hrs away and the customs...k maybe not worth it thou I havent been to the falls since I was a kid and would love to go there again
Random question thou for those that go back and forth, how long does the boarder crossing actually take. My wife has friends in flint, michigan and wouldnt mind going to the falls in Canada and then driving back to the us (to detroit) |

Haven't been in years, but growing up we crossed the border quite regularly... How long always depended on what crossing and when. We had crossings where there were car lineups so long we nearly couldn't see the actual customs window, and we had times when there was absolutely nobody. We usually found the smaller roads to be emptier as everybody always wanted to use the highways. And Friday and Sunday evenings were always popular, for people going for the weekend (like we often did). It's about an hour drive from where I live - in Montreal - to the border. Also there's this customs thing where if you've been across for 48 hours that you can bring back a certain amount of stuff - and one bottle of alcohol per person - back without having to pay duty on it. I often felt somehow amused that for the alcohol they would bring back 4 bottles, counting underage me and my underage brother (obviously the alcohol was for them, but they'd use our 1 bottle allowance). I think if you've been under 48 hours that you're supposed to pay duty on ANYTHING you've bought.
Just a warning, several years ago they tightened regulations that Canadians can't just cross anymore, we need our passports now. OR to take our passport to the driving bureau ahead of time to pay to upgrade our driver's license to also count as a passport at the border. To me this makes it sound likely that to go the other way, that Americans probably also have to have more than their driver's licenses in order to cross.
