Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Phantom of the Opera (1925 version), Faust, etc.

Those are all from the silent era, and are quite disturbing in terms of imagery.

I dunno, I've never been scared by horror movies, but I love them. I would probably say Jeepers Creepers(the first), Darkness Falls, or Sinister. Do mot watch the Appirition if you want to be scared, it was so lamed I luaghed through most lf it.

Actually, I don't think its very scary at all, its more suspence, though I cn see why some.people would be scared of it, if they scare easily.

That movie is nuts...

Oh, I would recommend Psycho, Rope, and Vertigo. They are great Alfred Hitchcock films. My favorite of those three is Vertigo though

Dead Alive is a movie I'd say to watch at least once for how over the top it is. Even today, it is still the most gory movie ever and the only movie that actually managed to make me feel sick.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a fun horror movie and is pretty funny at times.
