Well, JP w1 has the w5 3 (Camo,Warnado, whamshell) and the crypt. Boomer 3 pack is there too.

It opens up an interesting new collecting opportunity, that's for sure.

Rather easy. Sites from all over can import stuff. I'ver ordered a CD from japan, and if I wanted I could have a japanese PS2. I also have a japanese PSP and PS2 games while having never been to Japan.

While I'm sure all of those things are true, it's the ability to find a well established, reputable, trustworthy source to import from that's the issue. The last time I looked at any serious importing, I was planning on going through Lik-Sang--until Sony had them shut down with multiple bogus lawsuits. Since then, I haven't really seen anywhere short of eBay or Amazon where I felt comfortable purchasing items from outside of the country. Most of the things that I would choose to import are above what most would consider trivial money ($5-10), so I've had to pay a bit more than I would've had to a few years ago to keep the safety net in place. However, if we wait for such figures to show up on eBay, Amazon, etc., I doubt anyone will get any sort of discount versus what the current scalper market perpetuates. (shrug) Maybe we'll get some big name Japanese market retailers that will do overseas shipping but still charge their local retail rates.

Is that really true? I don't want to complain, but wait we had to wait constant months in search for them, but they get the last three in their first wave? That's not fair.

I wonder if the game will be dubbed in Japanese. They may have coding on their figures. I bet they would sound so cute in Japanese!

I doubt places like Play-Asia, Japanvideogames, and NCSX are going to be carrying the japanese versions of Skylanders. If I was wrong about any of those places, it might be Play-Asia, but I still doubt it, because for all we know, those places might think these figures are filling pegs up in NA stores.

Who knows. I mean, it would be cool for those looking for S1 stuff. I would get a Darklight for my 3 year old. Only thing that's been stopping me from buying her Adventure Packs, is Activision's goofy *** being selfish with Darklight, while they happily flood the shelves with Dragon's Peak, Empire of Ice, and Pirate Seas.

Years ago When Lik Sang got shut down, I wasn't aware of Play Asia at the time, but alot of the empolyees moved over there.

Oh excuse me, for the edit but I forgot they came back after being shutdown in 2002, you guys are talking about the most recent shutdown, I'm talking about back in 2002 when the Big Three sued them and they shut down before being bought by anew owner, not when Sony got them shut down in 06. Play asia was launched back in 2002 shortly after the Lik-sang mess. The Old owner and almost all of the empolyees were not a part of play asia.

The coding isn't on the figures, that's not how they work.

The language is fully, completely, 100% due to the console. If you want to hear them in Japanese, you'll have to switch your console to Japanese (someone on here reported that it's not even based on the language setting, Skylanders sets the language according to your console's location setting). This new release makes me wonder if the North America copies of the game even include Japanese.

All that's on the figure is ID numbers and such. Figure #123 is #123 in America, Canada, Europe, Australia, UK, as well as Japan. Hat #45 is also #45 everywhere. The game reads that it's #123 with hat #45 and reacts accordingly, drawing the right figure wearing the right hat and choosing the right audio clips.

The new toys will be identical in form and function to the previous Series 1 toys but in different packaging. If you are the sort of person who got into the figures because of the game, you should be set.

But as I said in the other thread: I've spent some time in Japan, and if it takes off there we won't see any benefit from a rare S1 figures getting a re-release. If you think Skylanders fans are crazy, you haven't seen anything until you've seen a serious Japanese collector who is happy to throw hundreds and thousands at their hobby.
In fact, if it really takes off in Japan you can expect supply of rare figures in the US/UK/etc to drop as obsessed Japanese fans import them en masse. And if scalpers figure out that Japanese collectors are willing to pay, I can only see availability getting a lot worse.

Matteomax's prototype ninjini is from China and he said if it is on the portal the figure dosn't work so I called activision a while back and asked them if you can use a skylander from a country outside of the country it was distributed in and they said you can't.

If it takes off, and the rare 'special' figures aren't reprinted, expect the clear, metallic and flocked figures to utterly vanish.
