Quality or Inner Beauty [CLOSED]

Sometimes when you buy a Skylander toy, you may notice how the paintjob or limb is different than what it's supposed be. Sometimes you don't like the look of the toy you bought and may want another that looks "perfect", or you try and get used to the look and eventually accept it.

Do you guys value 100% quality or accept the look of the Skylander toy you bought?

I have to order a lot of my figures online so bad paintjobs are my nightmare. I've learned to get used to it not being perfect (how sad would I look going into store to swap a figure because it has a small spot of paint where it shouldn't be).

I actually don't mind it anymore but if its obvious I try to fix it.

Example: My sprocket had a small blob of blue paint on her cheek so I got a gold paint I had from when I did a bit of Warhammer and patched it up. It wasn't a perfect colour match but I look at it as a small scar from one of my many battles I've had with her in game smilie

Actually sometimes that's what can make a figure more endearing and that skylander your own simply by how it looks. It can also help you in making a nickname for it. Unless a figure somehow looks deformed and in that case I wouldn't buy it because it should resemble what it's supposed to in the box to what I'll be playing with.

Taking that last ride through the sunset on skylanders. Hopefully a return of more classic spyro gameplay in the horizon.

I apparently don't micro-inspect my toys; I'm sure someone can find faults with them. Outside of obvious paint chip defects or otherwise EXTREMELY sloppy execution I let my toys be and accept them otherwise.

I probably inspect the packaging more than the toy itself.

I don't really mind bad paint jobs, since I own two sets of everyone it helps me to tell them apart better. That and it can really come down to a "take what you get" thing at times considering both of my Scarlet Ninjinis have horrible paint jobs. orz I agree with tigerdr too, I have a Flashwing with a dislocated jaw that I've affectionately nicknamed Slackjaw, haha.

If I was choosing from a shop I would avoid it for the next one but from online I'd look at it in the pack for a while (4 days it took me to adore my spotty stealth elf) before deciding I love it. :L

I have OCD so I must inspect all of them before choosing one.
If they're all bad, rare, or I ordered online I just have to settle with that's there.

If I'm buying a toy to repaint, I purposely pick the worst one.

I sometimes look for perfection, but I care much more about the packaging.

A damaged figure? Won't buy it unless it's rare.

If I find one missing paint, parts, or has something else odd, I'd buy it, like my Shroomboom with an extra tongue glued to him, or my L-Chill that has an upside-down card, or my Drill Sergeant that's missing the black paint under his gun.

Some of both, though I do quite prefer quality.

If I find one I want in a store and they have multiple of the character, I will go for the one that looks the best. Sometimes passing on the character if it is rather common and a decent one can't be found.

In a case such as with my Scarlet, both had bad eye-paint issues. So I went with the lesser of evils as I referred to her, knowing I'd likely never find another and have come to accept her.

Ninjask, you don't have to keep double posting and saying you're sorry for repeatedly doing so. Just use the edit button to add in more words to your posts, and try not to double post at all.

Since Giants, the quality of the Skylanders have grown down a little.

I've only had very small errors on my Skylanders, but I think I'd
be quite proud to have an oddball 'cause major paint errors make some unique and special :3
Take my brother's Ninjini for instance (He only got it yesterday), she has a splat of red paint on one of her eyes.
My sister pointed this out saying that it looks like blood.. BATTLE SCAR BONUS!! smilie

lol What?

If there was a last rare Skylander in stock inside a store, and it had an obvious factory error, would you still buy it?

About a weak ago, I got the Empire of Ice adventure pack, and I noticed the Slam Bam I got had a small white dot on its face that it shouldn't have. Does that count?

It bothers me a lot because I would like to have both good game and good toys. I don't just use them as keys to the game. I also like to play with them, display them, and look at the details on them, and seeing extra glue splats, massive scratches and blobs of wrongly-placed paint is LAME.

How is she "surperior"? She just mini-mods and gets into scuffles with Kappa. Also I really don't see the point of mini-modding when there's a report button.

Key qualities: the correct shapes of the eyes, not too many blotches, no missing parts...

She's been on for ages. Several members assist mods. Kappa is always the one to start it, that's the reason he got Gnorc'd.

Given the choice, I always file through the figures looking for the best one. I sat in the store comparing a dozen Jade Flashwings when they snuck out early to pick out the one that looked best in my opinion (lots of bad paintjobs on those). Did the same recently with Drobot S2, mulling over which of the three is best (not a fan of his repose, with the disk being connected tot he wings). If they had only one it would depend on the severity of the error.

I get the figures as soon as possible so I don't have to decide between the leftovers most of the time, and if it is ever necessary it allows me time to locate one in better shape. It is hard to be choosy if you wait around.

Unless the paint job is truly awful, or there is a massive defect on a Skylander, I'm happy with whatever I get. It's been my experience that the vast majority of Skylanders toys have better paint jobs and better quality control than most other lines of toys and action figures. There are always exceptions, but in general, I think folks who are ultra nit-picky about very, very minor aberrations in the paint jobs should consider counseling ....
