My little sister has a few of her own skylanders that she used to take into the bath with her... I tried putting them on my portal to let her play the game and they worked fine still. I certainly wouldnt recommend leaving them submerged for long periods of time though, haha.

Yes, they are.
DO NOT SUBMERGE THEM IN CHEMICALS! The RFID chip inside is very sensitive.

They are probably not water tight. However, there is no current running through them when they aren't on the portal, nor do they store power. As long as you let them dry THOROUGHLY it probably won't be a problem should they happen to get wet. I wouldn't use it as a pool/bath toy though, there are much better/cheaper options for that, like the Mega Blocks figures if you want to play with Skylanders.
Water is a problem for electronics because the impurities in it cause the circuits to short out (allow current to connect in places where it isn't intended). No power = no problem, unless the material is susceptible to water damage (rust/dissolving/etc.), or the circuits make use of components that store power (capacitors/batteries/etc.). They actually have some liquids used for fighting fires in highly sensitive electronic areas that are completely non-conductive. I saw a demo once where they took an aquarium full of the stuff and dropped in a laptop that still worked fine completely submerged. |

A friend of mine said a friend of theirs froze a Skylander in water and placed the entire ice with the Skylander inside on the portal and it worked. That person then unfroze the Skylander and it still worked.

This is all very interesting, thanks for the responses.
I don't actually want to put my Skylanders in water I am just curious and it is good to know if they get spilled on or something they will be okay.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed. |

Almost, I froze a stealth elf in a block of ice and it stopped working once it was frozen. When I thawed her and let her dry out she worked again.

I've spilled a few drinks on some of mine accidentally and they still work, so yes, they are water proof.
