Whamshell was so rare?

He was packed 1 in every Wave 5 box, he wasn't in a Triple, and he came out first in Australia, and was VERY limited for a time, only 8,000 during the 1st release.
He was the most sought-out figure of them all, because he was last.

Also, there was the EXTREMELY miniscule chance of finding a Clear variant of him or Stealth Elf, and a large chance of finding Clear Cynder.

i was Lucky myself, to find on in an accident, and yes, he is rare cuz what matteo said

Interesting--I didn't know that clear cynder was much more common than the others. Were there air less silvers made? The price is so much higher. (Off subject sorry)

I got mine from a castle case that included wham shell.it was the same price at amazon.but might as well get the case with it!

You can still find the Castle at TRU every know and then, some more than others. Take for Granited, you have to spend $20 - $30 to get him with the case though.

There was some kind of promo TRU had going when they released that castle case with Wham-Shell... I got the castle with him (a double since I already had him) for FREE!! I think it was if you spent so much money on Skylanders; and they just came out with the Giants and TRU Legendaries around the same time (or it could have been with the Gnarly TR bundle, not sure), so it was easy so have spent enough to get it free during that promo!

Approx. 1,000 Silvers were made.

Cynder is the most common Single Clear. Wham Shell is rarest, Stealth Elf triple pack is the most common.

Unknown how many Clears there are.

That's interesting in how they were put into boxes which would explain how there was two wham shell that day and one clear cynder when I got her. I only bought the cynder because I already bought a wham shell the week before for someone. The walmarts around here haven't replenished any S:SA figures since then either btw so no boomers or anything.

Stores were flooded with a "no new character" filler wave after the Christmas season to make up for the empty shelves, but they were stuck with them for a long time. No sales = no orders, so many stores didn't even order/get the last wave.
Plus they distribute characters per wave (almost) evenly, so there was about 1 per box. He only available in single packs (unlike Camo and Warnado who miraculously were in a 3-pack together), but he was later packaged with a castle display set.

Let's start with Shroomy_Boomy.

"I got the castle with him (a double since I already had him) for FREE!!" - The promotion was to give away a castle case/Wham Shell for free, and he got one that way, except he already had Wham-Shell.

"I think it was if you spent so much money on Skylanders" - From what he can remember, you got the case as a free gift if you spent a bunch of money (like how EB Games/GameStop had the Spend $20 to get a Sidekick promotion, for that one you had to spend $20). He doesn't know or doesn't remember how much you had to spend.

"they just came out with the Giants and TRU Legendaries around the same time (or it could have been with the Gnarly TR bundle, not sure), so it was easy so have spent enough to get it free during that promo!" - This was back in October or early November, when Giants just came out, and so did some Legendary figures, so he found it easy to spend enough to earn the case (and he's implying that's what he did). He doesn't remember very clearly, so he might have instead gotten the case from buying the Blue Wii/Gnarly Tree Rex bundle.

Now for Okaps.

So they didn't sell well, due to being all full of old characters.

"but they were stuck with them for a long time." - Due to having shelves full of characters nobody wanted, the stores kept on having them, they were stuck with them.

"No sales = no orders, so many stores didn't even order/get the last wave." - Since the shelves were full, the stores didn't order more. This situation lasted long enough that they weren't even ordering figures when the last wave was released, so they didn't get any of the last wave.

"Plus they distribute characters per wave (almost) evenly, so there was about 1 per box." - The boxes that WERE shipped to stores, the final wave boxes only had one Wham-Shell in each box shipped.

"He only available in single packs" - He wasn't also in a triple, he was only in a single pack. There was only one way to get him.

"(unlike Camo and Warnado who miraculously were in a 3-pack together)" - Two other Lostlanders, Camo and Warnado, were also in a triple (the same triple) besides their single packs, making them more available.

"but he was later packaged with a castle display set." - [Can't make this clearer, this is a reference to the Castle Display Case we were just talking about for Shroomy Boomy's post, the Castle Display Case which was packaged with a Wham-Shell.]

I saw a few Wham Shell packs in Macy's in Chicago before Christmas last year, but didnt buy because I didn't need him.
