It wouldn't be too difficult to look at recent Ebay sales of Boomer to know the "going rate", just for future reference.

Depending on the condition of the figurine, Boomer recently sells between $25 and $50 on the secondary market.

I've been wondering this for a long time and finally just need to ask. Is the price "boom" (ha ha) for Boomer specifically due to latecomers who want to complete their collections or people buying him up because he's scarce now or what? When my wife and I got into the game with SSA, I ended up with Boomer put into my pile (even though he was bought for her) because, frankly, he sucked. I've used him 2-3 times and resigned him to permanently reside in his drawer in my SSA figure case as he's such a pain to do anything with. He might be able to do some serious damage later on, but I just can't justify the grinding that you'd have to endure to get him the kind of money and xp to get there. And unless his later abilities suddenly fixed his accuracy/control issues (worst, by far of any Skylander), I'm left scratching my head as to why people are going nuts for him. Any takers on this who can explain this for me?

Boomer gets a little cooler when you go down either one of the paths. The real reason why this figure is rare is when he was primarily distributed in cases. He was primarily seen during the games early release just prior and after the first Christmas skylanders were released. By the time late adopters got into the game and were digging through SSA bargain bins he was already sold out. The fact he was not rereleased in the Giants game made him desirable for character completists. He also started to gain a cult following because he players are attracted to figures who are relatively decent and not common. This combination of random events made him one of the most valuable figures.

I hate threads where somebody knows they got a good deal and comes onto a site to rub it in.

That's just.. wrong..

He usually sells for $40+ brand new, but for $30 loose.

Is it wrong if the seller didn't know true market value? That's called "getting a deal" in my book.

I guess I just live in an odd area, then, as he was filling up all the pegs at our local WalMarts, Targets and TRU's into July/August/September of last year. I remember the first Frito Lay contest where you were all but guaranteed to win a free Skylander by calling the hotline and, sure enough, everybody received Boomer, Boomer, Boomer. I'm just left wondering what happened to all of these unwanted Boomers? Did some insightful, forward thinking person buy them all up and is slowly unloading them at a premium now, or are there boxes lurking in the backs of Goodwill, the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Clubs filled with the little monster? (shrug)
