You see, when someone is "the bomb", they simply mean they blow you away or amaze you with their power because, as bombs are today, are very powerful and have the ability to cause a mass of force to blow people away. This may even cause people to fraction and split apart into gibs of organs, starting the catch phrase "Let's split up!" from Fred on Scooby-Doo because he was proclaimed "the bomb" by the majority of viewers.
