Just noticed on TRU website that they have Swap force for preorder! The ps3, 360, and wii u comes with wash buckler, blast zone and Stealth elf, and the 3ds comes with two other characters I don't know there names and a new version of Eruptor. Sorry I would post pic but don't know how to do it!

That tornado base could be very interesting for character swaps - I've got my eye on him (especially since he's the only air Swaplander and Swaplander with that movement type we've seen)

If they are indeed this idiotic I'm out this time. There should be ZERO requirement to buy multiple starter packs. Buying the 3DS is a different game at least so that's fine, but outside of that, NO.

GM, that's like $2,550 out of the gate if my math is correct. To be honest, it's awesome that you're gonna get a bunch of them, but you might just be better off buying the characters separately on ebay or whatever. You're gonna end up having like...32 copies of the game just sitting there doing nothing.

They've been reading Dark Spyro and noted that you want to display every possible pose, so they made sure to stick it to you and make you buy 17 of every starter pack.

On another note ... another Stealth Elf? Really? We've already got 3 different figures of her (well, I only have two - S1 and legendary).

I think it is great that I can buy the 3ds and the console one and not get duplicate characters. If you have more than one system you ended up with multiple Cynders and Tree Rex, which sucked.

If you look closely on the console ones at TRU, you will notice that Series 3 Stealth Elf is actually "Ninja Stealth Elf" as well. I guess that Series three reposes might all have variant names.

Thanks---I know of the Swap Force combinations....but I'm pretty certain they'll have singles of these. I was under the impression that all of the swap landers was going to be in various starter packs, which would be stupid. I'm ok if I need to get the 3DS now, but they'll be leaving money on the table if they don't make at least the non variants available in singles for those that don't have or care about the 3DS game.

Yep I agree...and if the character appears as in game variants, then it "may" be enough change to justify buying reposes. Hopefully we'll get more scoop during E3.

I think it is a moot point anyways, GM has said he would swear off Skylanders if they push Hex until October, and several retailers pages indicate she is "never before released" (even though she has been, in other regions). So he won't have to buy ANY, let alone 17 of each starter pack .

I'm fairly certain those in the 3DS pack will be available as singles, albeit released much later as it was with Ignitor for SSA. That way they can entice people to get it, but have an option for non-3DS owners. Who knows though.

What I would like to see is Swapper two packs for the same price as regular three packs. I think that would be a good move since the swappers really work best in pairs.

Their plan is obviously that they are overlapping games to counter Infinity. Collectors will be frustrated, but we aren't really the main audience. I don't know the numbers, but I would say less than 1% of Skylanders players actively try to collect them all.

I'm only going to get the wii u version and possibly the 3ds version but not for the 75 buck price tag especially when black friday will probably have the game slashed half off like last time. besides I can get hex seperately right now without having to be locked into buying the game for 75 bucks.

edit: or I could but I think the pre order buy buttons are missing to be able to do so. Seriously they better not lock LC hex until october.

I'm going to pre-order Swap Force from two different places so they don't pull the "only one bonus per customer" crap for the console and 3ds versions. Leaning towards the WiiU this time over the 360 version. I'll do it at places that don't charge till it ships so I can cancel the pre-order if a better deal comes up somewhere else. Thinking Best Buy and Amazon. TRU pre-orders are perilous at best, and I'd rather not give Walmart money if it can be avoided. I like Target, but Amazon is tax free and I get points from Best Buy.

I get the vibe that they indeed intend to hold Hex until October, because those places wouldn't have put that up if Activision didn't give them the impression it would be "never released before". Sad, but they are obviously scared of Infinity and think the impact of delaying the release of Hex will be outweighed by giving it out free for locking people into Swap Force.

I really, really like where they are going with the reposes. They obvious realized that simply changing the pose again isn't nearly good enough. Completely different models instead of color swaps is ingenious. I'm still probably not going to go all out this time - dragging this out this year has broken me of that desire.

And, I'm really happy the 3DS and console version can be bought without getting dupe figures (except for the pre-order bonus, obviously). That is how it should have been this year.

Most online places do. Some of them WILL place a temporary auth on a credit card they keep renewing until it comes out though, but you don't actually get charged. Brick and mortar Stores almost always require a down payment, making cancelling it a bit more time consuming. With an online place all you have to do is click a few buttons before they actually ship it and no problem.

Thx---so I think I read above--TRU, is doing the normal but the preorder card for $1 or $5...and Target is doing the same thing. Correct? Also, I also read that each store has different promo items with purchase--does anybody know what the different items are? (Other than lightcore hex)

I am not a fan of in store pre-orders. Best Buy almost always messes them up, half the employees don't even know how to do it and they never pull the game. Target and TRU don't even take your name, so it isn't like they have one with your name on it waiting for you. Maybe I'm weird, but if I put money down months in advance, I expect a copy with my name on it sitting there for at least a few days. I give you an interest free loan, you promise to hold one for me.

I prefer online orders, even with in store pick up. At least then there is a digital "paper trail", and I mostly just have to give a credit card number. I also don't have to keep up with cards or receipts.

Well, the best thing about the Starter Pack Swaplanders, is that they're going nowhere. There will always be plenty of time to build up the 17 I need of them. Case in point, buy my 7 copies on day 1 and then wait for buy 1 get 1 50% off, or buy 2 get 1 free deals to fill out the rest of the 17 I need.

Starter Packs will always be plentiful.

Gamestop is the go to place for reliable in store pre-orders. They have done them forever and have it worked out. The only problem is if there is a limited pre-order item bonus, because sometimes they don't keep track of them and they mysteriously "sell out" (ie taken by employees) before the first copy is even sold. I imagine Hex will be inventoried and tracked, so it won't be an issue.

I'm fairly old school in how I think about preorders. If I pre-order, I darn well better have a copy waiting for me. Don't oversell them. Don't sell them to non-preorders until your preorder list is accounted for and partitioned. I get annoyed when I show up and you go pull one off the regular shelf, why did I give you money early if I could just pick it off the shelf like you do? Don't do pre-orders if you cannot handle that.

Best Buy is the worst offender in this regard. I just about went off on a manager one time when I preordered Mario Kart 7 as a Christmas gift for my son and it came out right before the holiday. I get there, the store is packed, present my slip (an hour after they open, so it isn't like I waited days) and he walks out to the shelf and picks up the last one. I was this close to not getting one at all and not having my son's most wanted gift for Christmas because they couldn't be bothered to pull out the pre-orders before they shelved them.

reminds me of the duke nukem forever pre order. It feels the reason they are doing this as some have pointed out already with the hex incentive as to keep the game relevant and perhaps sway people from picking up inifinity which releases in two months if for instance they don't have money for both. Or just so skylanders isn't forgotten

I don't know. I was showing it to my wife and we noticed it said Ninja stealth Efl. Not sure if that is only at TRU or it is going to be other places, I didn't see any pictures at other sites.

She's gonna be Starter Exclusive.
