I stopped by Gamestop today asking about Polar Whirlwind and they had no idea when it was gonna be released, but one of the employees there brought up Ninjini to me. He said back in about January they got in a shipment of the giant Skylanders Giants and he said there was a completely gold Ninjini in the box and they sold it at there at the store. I really don't believe him about it, but I was curious if anyone on here has ever seen a gold Ninjini or heard of one at all? I told the employee at Gamestop that he was full of it and Ninjini wasn't released in January at all and she was never made in all gold and I left.

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! Lol joking.
But seriously, I think you're right, I highly doubt there's a gold Ninjini, we'd know about it by now. It's possible there's some gold giant that he got confused with Ninjini, but that seems unlikely as well...

As far as I know, the only chase giant is Glitter Hot Head.

Ninjini shouldn't have been out in Jan.

Other than Flameslinger, were there even any gold S2 variants?

Ninjini was not released until Feb. It was a TRU exclusive for a few days, then released to the rest of the stores. This guy is blowing smoke.

As messed up as it sounds, I know a few employees who will make up a character variant just to baffle collectors. Especially if the collector boasts about having them all (not saying you did).

Either way, Gamestop REMOVES all variants from shippments.

This would be completely preposterous.

This is true...
You have a better chance at getting struck by lightning than to get a variant at GameStop

2 months ago the Eb Games employee told me that he saw a Flocked Stump Smash from there shipment so he bought it for his brother. Lucky for the employee, he gets to grab it first before any buyers would see it and buy it.

Maybe make variants more common? Not rare rare. I would faint if I ever found Sparkle Sonic Boom. No. Instead I a kid, have to pay hundreds for a ten dollar toy. Grrrr.

Someone is forcing you to pay hundreds of dollars for a ten dollar toy? What kind of monster would do that?

I've never known a "scalper" that forced someone to buy toys off of them. Do you have a link to a news article or something that talks about this? I'd like to read more about it.

He's right, no one but yourself is forcing you to spend hundreds on a $10 toy. If I can get a variant at little of cost (for shipping) I'll do it, otherwise, its not worth it.

I'm also not an insane collector, I did that in the past, wasn't worth the aggravation or the space it took up in my house / office. It's a toy, it gets opened and played with.

Ranting semi off topic....Reminds me of my mother in-law with all her "collectibles", always saying how much things are "worth" and that's why she saves everything (she's a horder), I tell her that its only worth money if you're willing to sell it...if you're not willing to sell it...then its junk.

Rant over....

But anyway, if it makes you happy...spend the hundreds of dollars for a toy....don't complain about having to spend it cause in the big picture...you really don't need it.

Don't really think he was saying that he was "forced" to buy one. I think what he meant was due to scalpers and companies like Gamestop who pull them out of shipments and mark them up, he is being left with no choice but to spend that kind of money on a rare one if he really wants it.

You could buy it for $200 now, and in a few years, it could sell for $600+.

I could definitely get behind something like this. They used to do this all the time when I was a kid, with Kenner Star Wars figures, with GI Joe figures, with Transformers... You'd collect so many "points" from the backs of pretty much any/all packages and then send in a certain amount along with a certain amount of money (usually shipping and handling, but sometimes an actual charge, depending on the item ordered) and get your limited edition figure/vehicle/accessory 4-6 weeks later. In this age of instant gratification (ala eBay, Amazon, etc.), it might not go over so well with kids, but it's still better than the 1 in 100/1000/etc. chance that folks have now.

Or it could sell for pennies, it's always a risk to invest in collectibles with the specific intention of being able to cash out one day for a big payday. Folks should only spend what they're comfortable with and only what they can afford to spend on such things. As much as I'd love to be an absolute completionist like some on here, there's no way I would pay more than $20-30 for any chase figure (outside of something ridiculous, like one made of solid gold, for example), no matter how rare or special it might be. It would be nice to have, but definitely not worth getting worked up over.

Saying that you "have" to do something usually implies some kind of force that requires it. Otherwise, it's an option.

And let's be real - scalpers and even GameStop aren't what's making the chase figures hard to find. Even employees are hardly a dent in the entire equation. You know what makes them hard to find? The fact that they're rare.

If they weren't rare, scalpers and the like wouldn't give two craps about them.

If anything, scalpers make it slightly easier to find an item - if you're willing to pay enough. I could hit 100 stores ten days in a row and never find a particular variant. I can go on eBay and get the figure with a few clicks of a mouse.

I understand there are kids here--it's a toy after all-but I think if you are old enough to be on forums and "contributing" to the discussions--then you should be old enough to use some discretion and post in the appropriate threads--if there is something of use to post, then post. If it's attention that's wanted or to banter back and forth nonsensically then choose another thread. Again, I know that this is a public forum and normally I ignore it but it gets frustrating. The grammar/spelling and snotty childish stuff just gets old.
