Who is the fastest skylander? (speed running) [CLOSED]

Hi I was wondering who is the fastest skylander once fully leveled, this includes using attacks which make the character faster, e.g using warnado's spinning shell attack continuously is faster than him just walking , I would appreciate any help or thoughts as I am planning on learning how to potentially speed run this game, Thanks.

Without lining up Skylanders side by side in levels and "drag racing" them, it may be fairly objective who is the fastest with dash abilities. But then again some may actually know the answer there.

As for the statistical answer, I believe the Ninjini's and Bouncer's are at the top of the list.

I upgraded my Stealth Elf's speed too 84 through heroic challenges :-)

Then I added the +12 Speed hat (Winged Helm) and I can only pray she has good brakes LOL

Is there an actual MAX limit to Skylanders for stats like when they reach Level 15?

The level of a Skylander has nothing to do with their stats. All leveling up changes is the Hp. Heroics are the way to upgrade the things like speed, armor, crit, and element.

There are limits for stats, I believe element is limited to 115 in Giants. But what else is limited I am not sure.

@ Hexblazer, I think 98 is as high as Flameslingers speed goes. And there are a bunch more characters that do hit that number as well. (Flameslingers dash does add more speed aswell)

But the Ninjini's and Bouncer's can get to 108.

Statistics mean nothing, iirc in SSA Double Trouble was maxed at 91 Speed but is one of the slowest Skylanders. I guess that each Skylander has a different "movement rate" and each stat adds that much percent to it. Regardless, even if Ninjini walks faster than, say, Stealth Elf, it doesn't matter because she has a dash move that makes her go faster overall.

Anyway, I would say Flameslinger. He's even better with his Wow Pow as you'll barely need to stop with it.

I think speed increases 1% for every 4 points (as that's how many individual challenges give you), but I guess it really depends movement type perhaps (run/fly/float/etc.)?

Fright Rider with his dash, Ghost Roaster with Skull Charge, and Flameslinger with his wowpow, and drobots thrusters in giants. Its a lot easier to control drobot in giants than in adventure in my opinion.

Agreed that dash abilities add quite a bit to the speed of Skylanders that have it. And as I do not have a console infront of me at this time, I will be sure to check Ninjini just walking vs Stealth Elf's walking as an example to see how the stat actually works out. But some people do prefer stats over subjective answers. I understand that the numbers don't mean much to you, but that does not mean they won't mean something to someone else.

That is also why I split my first answer into 2 parts. Subjective and stat based. And responded to hex's picture of stats with a answer geared towards stats.

Fright Rider and Stealth Elf are good – but Flameslinger isn’t so great.
When doing a speed run, speed is obviously important – however so is death dealing ability. There are plenty of areas and gates that are locked until you eliminate all opposition. Take too long to knock out those groups and your overall time finishing a level won’t be as great as you’ll need – this goes double if you’re playing on nightmare. And on nightmare knocking out a big group with Flameslinger just takes far too long.

I'm really doubting the numbers on the stats screen. For example, after upgrading a few of my skylanders to the same NUMERIC value, it's clear that one skylander is still faster than the other (at least my perception). This seems to be confirmed with previous comments that the NUMERIC value is RELATIVE to the character in question.

Also, and my son showed me this---do your "dash" or "special" fast move and go to the STAT screen while it's still in play---they'll be changed to reflect the speed of that move!

Also, make sure you wear the Future Hat for a +10 in speed !!

I made a grid of all the hats (because I'm THAT O.C.D.), and FYI, the fastest hat is the Winged Hat with +12 Speed. However, that's in Dragon's Peak, which not everyone has, so the next best is the Future Hat with +10, that's in Autogyro Adventure (Chapter 14).

And no, a Giant will never be fastest. Period. I don't care whether or not the numbers disagree with me, the numbers don't seem to apply that much anyway. TRUE speed, subjective speed, there's no question that the Giants, as a group, are way below the top of the field in regards to speed. It's a gameplay standard, when some aspect is better, some aspect is worse to compensate. The Giants tend towards stronger attacks and being able to absorb more damage (logical, due to their size), so they're slower for balance. Actually, I find Big Damage/Slow Speed to be the most common trade-off. I recall playing Deus Ex, and the big bad rocket launcher - taking more space in your inventory than anything else and delivering an explosive which finished most enemies - would about HALF your walking speed while carrying it ready.

For speed runs I usually use Stealth Elf or Legendary Stealth Elf. Flameslinger does well too. The thing is, speed runs AREN'T just about speed. Who cares if you have the fastest Skylander if they take forever to finish enemies? When trying to go fast, you'll usually skip whatever fights you can, but there are always fights you MUST do. So you need someone who kills fast, too, and for me that's my Stealth Elf sisters. smilie The other day I was doing some speed runs on my Nightmare save, just as something to do, and I was doing it with my new Polar. I have her set to the cloud path right now, and I was finding it useful to throw clouds at people and keep my distance to let them finish people off from safety with their lightning. With her flying, she was doing all right (I had to pull out the stealth girls for a few levels, but still).

There have been many different opinions on speed in this thread. Some like myself saying stats do matter, some saying they mean nothing, and others saying it is a character dependent issue. I am not saying I am right, I very well could be wrong. But to set it right in my head I conducted a test with my son to see how all the discussions worked out in game for us.

What we did, was Skylanders Drag Racing. We used Chapter 9 - Kaos' Castle, Right in the beginning of the level, after you kill the enemies but before you go to the pool. We picked this area because of the fact that it has 2 sets of tiles running perpendicular to each other for a decent distance that allows you to see if you are traveling straight or not. Also because at this location the camera angle is from behind allowing a pretty much straight up travel of the joystick. All of the Skylanders used were level 15, all Persephone upgrades, maximum heroics (Yes, we have unlocked them all), and wearing the Knights Helm hat. Just to make sure of no differences besides the character themselves. We were unfortunately not able to see the stat gain by dash ability in the stat screen as GhostRoaster has suggested.

We used the most common answers here, Being Stealth Elf, Flameslinger, Ninjini and Bouncer. All in their most powerful figure. The speed stat (Not including the hat boost) for each below:

L-Stealth Elf - 98
S2 Flameslinger - 98
Scarlet Ninjini - 108
L-Bouncer - 108

Through multiple races in various combinations of who was using what character, and on what side of the screen both the figure and who was controlling was on, a few things became apparent.

Ninjini and Bouncer both beat Flameslinger and Stealth Elf by a small margin when all characters are using normal movement (no dash abilities).
Flameslinger and Stealth Elf both beat the Giants when using their dash abilities.
Flameslinger beats Stealth Elf when both are using their dash abilities.

So I have a couple conclusions, and do welcome any and all discussion about what we did wrong or could do better, or about what our findings mean.

1) Yes, Speed stat matters. Not just in relation to a character, but across the board for Giants. (did not test S:SA)
2) Speed stat is not an incremental gain ie: 1% for 4 points based on characters movement type. But a flat gain to speed.

In conclusion, We saw Skylanders being faster based solely on speed stat with normal movement to be an effective way to judge speed. Dash abilities do increase speed (Even though we could not see the stat change on the stat screen, We hope someone can come forth with actual numbers to confirm). So if I take the name of the thread literally about the fastest Skylander in a straight line, it would be Ninjini and Bouncer (in our opinion) and their variations for straight movement. Flameslinger for his short distance speed. And (wasn't tested yet) Stealth Elf for her ability to continue the speed with no cool down ability like Flameslinger.

But if taken in a different way, as in speed runs, it becomes a whole different ball game. For speed runs, speed alone is not the key (as NiceGuy1 stated), the ability to go fast AND take down large groups of enemies quickly. There it becomes all subjective as people have different play styles. What works for one person may not work for another.

Use all the guys you got, and figure what works best for you.

One thing I'm not sure of: If the time to switch characters counts towards time taken. i.e. if the clock keeps ticking when you remove a Skylander, put on a new one, and wait for the intro animation to complete. If this counts, then we'll want to pick one character and stick with them throughout the level.

Siowm6: Thanks for the information. Though I want to point out, I usually find there's a significant delay between when I can use Flameslinger's dash again, after the last dash ends, while with Stealth Elf she can jump very quickly into another flip. There's a bigger delay in Giants than in SSA, but it's still not bad. I also recently found out I can just keep Attack 3 pressed and she'll keep flipping as quickly as she can! I've always mashed Attack 3, but you can just hold it for maximum speed.

@ NiceGuy, I was also curious about the time issue when switching. And did check on that in the past. This all depends on the method you use to switch. But in short answer, no. Obviously, if you take your time from when you decide to switch to when you actually pull the Skylander off you will lose time. But if you just pull off, and switch no time is lost. And no time is lost during the "please put a Skylander on the portal" screen.

As for the delay of Flameslinger's dash, I did not but will test if he is faster with delay than the continuous flip of Stealth Elf once I figure out a way how. In short bursts I know he is faster, but over long term is much harder to test. If you can think of a good straight run to test on I am welcome to ideas. But when you start to have to turns there are too many variables to be accurate for an unbiased test. As we all know the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. And around corners one would have to travel the further distance while one shorter, killing any chance of an actual test. I am still thinking and looking but have not figured out a suitable test ground for this yet.
