Personally, CoinOpTV is my favourite channel for the games, but I haven't found a Skylanders channel that I'm utterly satisfied with the content on...

I like wdrumz and the8bittheater, but I don't lke how wdrumz puts the same hat on every skylander, a pet peeve of mine, and the8bittheater doesn't always go to the right places to find a certain skylander even tho his comments are blown up with places to find it, and wdrumz hasn't had many vids lately.... I like the skylanderkids tho, I picture myself that young and getting rare skylanders when I watch the vids, coinoptv and jojopetv are awesome too, jojo had thumps and eye brawl vids before any1 else on YouTube, and I'm a huge fan of the skylander 101 vids, FGTV just annoys me sometimes, his accent gets to me

inb4 this thread goes off the rails into a discussion of how bratty the kids are or how terrible of a parent the guy is.

Hopefully they'll be asking some good questions about Swap Force and the future of Skylanders. If no one has been paying any attention to what Papa Bobby has been saying in press releases for Activision- he's essentially blaming the Wii U for poor sales. That's a bold move for someone to state (and of course in newer interviews he's also put some blame on Microsoft and Sony), but it could potentially damage the Nintendo/Activision friendship we seem to have now. (You can't tell me there's not SOMETHING there with Nintendo getting 2(rather 3 counting GnarlyRex) console exclusive figures)

Interesting. While I am glad for the kids, because maybe now they will get something their Dad can't take away from them due to how much it may be worth - oh wait - I can't help but feel their are real fans of Skylanders out there, who don't make borderline trolling videos, that should be able to go.

It's insane to think there are some people out there who have spent some serious money on this franchise, and they're not invited? I only hope they were invited, because they happened to be in San Francisco.

The guy doesn't make that great of videos. Nothing about his videos are ever useful or relevant to Skylanders.

However, it's about the kids in this situation. It's awesome to see them go.

Good for them, I hope they have fun. Every single one of us could, with enough time and effort create a blog or channel that catches TFB's interest enough to garner a visit to their office. Instead of jealousy, the best avenue would be to start a blog, offer insightful/unique content and a good presentation. They might just take notice.

Many of those that have dumped tons of money/interest have been rewarded by employees with free swag/unique figures, haven't they? Inviting a couple kids to visit is good publicity. It is, after all, aimed at young kids. Slapping a picture of two excited kids on the Facebook page has far better response.

I agree and I'm personally glad to see that they get to visit TFB. They're creating content, furthering the brand, and they're the intended audience. That's what should be rewarded.

However, that guy decided to think about money over his kid's happiness, so as soon as he revealed the surprise to them, he got onto her for not understanding why he wouldn't let her open it.

Why surprise a kid with something, only to crush their spirit by saying, "Sorry, kiddo, this is worth money. You're not opening it, despite it being a surprise for you?"

So, if you couldn't understand that, let me explain it in skylanders terms, my children, young enough to not know about collectors items, NOW, understand about variants, they should be kept in a box, like our Stone Zook video, no one wanted to open it, they are COOL with them being in a box, BECAUSE I TAUGHT THEM, thats what parents do. Once again, you're not a parent I take it. So if I only cared about money, (lol, very funny again) they wouldn't have opened over 80+ skylanders in their lifetime, instead I would of kept them all in the box to resell them later, right?

You do not value items based on the cost to make them, rather, what they are worth or/what some crazed fans are willing to pay for them. First Rule of social media is don't engage the critics in arguments. It never comes off well on your public face or brand. Probably best to just let it go. Some of this is jealousy, some of it just different opinions.

I believe Gamemaster is a parent, and I definitely am a parent. Just because their parenting opinion is different does not make either of you a bad parent or not understand being a parent. I do not share his opinion that they should be just handed rare variants to open, and down deep I doubt he does as well - particularly if his kid wanted to pop open his Employee Prism Break or Blue Chop Chop. However, I did take a small issue with giving it to them, then telling they couldn't play with it. Again, personal opinion - I'm entitled to that. I respect your desire to keep a rare figure in pristine condition.

I agree, that's the thing, I didn't give it to them. Activision sent us that box, I had no idea what was inside. I found out when they found out. They were about to tear open glitter hot head, I had to stop them. They were upset at first, but now it's no big deal at all, they love that they have him period.

Dude you need to just chill out and realize not everyone on the net is going to like you, your videos, or for that matter your parenting techniques. (nor is everyone going to hate them) Gamemaster is a parent (as anyone on here can tell you) and you do sound rather cocky and arrogant going off on others "educating" them for when they do become a parent if they aren't already. Yes, I am a parent already.

No I don't agree with telling a kid they can't open a toy regardless of rather or not it's a collectors item so long as it is theirs. (if you got it for yourself then that's a different story) Comparing taking candy away from a kid when they've had too much vs stopping them from opening a toy is just silly. Too much candy could seriously affect their health, opening Glitter Hot Head has no physical affects what so ever to their well being. Personally I believe that eventually Skylanders is going to go the same way as beanie babies and not even be worth the packaging they're in anymore. I might not agree with some of the things you do just as I'm sure you wouldn't agree with some of the things I do. However that doesn't make either of us a bad parent.

All that being said, I hope your kids did have fun at TFB, and anyone on here referring to them as "little brats" or any other such names need to seriously grow up. Now can EVERYONE on here stop with the pointless name calling?

That's fair. Here's the thing that a lot of the collectors really do not understand. Skylanders is a kids game. A couple of excited kids will always be of more interest to their brand than a guy that builds a shrine of unopened figures. People see your videos and think "Hey those kids love this thing, my kids will too!". Most regular people see a guy that has a ton of packaged Skylanders pinned to their wall and think "Hmm, that's ... weird". Not that it should get that response, but it is what it is. They sell far more Skylanders to kids that have 10 or so than they do to people that collect every single variant in twos so they can open one and keep one sealed - and a lot of collectors really forget that they are not the target audience. I myself have to keep it in perspective, and while we do try to "collect em all" I don't seek any rare "chase" variants because I wouldn't feel right spending money on a toy just to look at, kids don't always get that.

Now if you would follow me on this one, and don't take it the wrong way. I have a feeling Activision sent you those figures so your kids could do what they do best, get excited about popping those suckers open and play with them. I doubt they shipped you a rare variant so you could keep it in the box and put it away because it is valuable. But, they did give them to you, so it is your right to do with them as you please. I really doubt they gave it a second thought, because they invited you to come see them. That was my only personal thing about it.

In the end, I think what you do is great. Activision and TFB obviously appreciate it, as do many other fans. I love sharing Skylanders with my boys as well, and they get every bit as excited. Don't let the grumpies get to you. They are either too jaded to appreciate it, or jealous that you got the red carpet treatment. Every Skylander fan would love a tour and getting free special figures in the mail.
