This is the kind of exchange that kept me from joining/participating for so long. It's ok to disagree but why do people have to be rude? What is the purpose for comments like some in this thread? Clearly they aren't to have a conversation or an exchange of ideas. If the purpose is just to be rude I would suggest not posting. Again, It's ok to disagree but it needs to be done constructively, regardless of age.
I know I'm new here...but I felt I had to comment.

Child Cyber Bulling

You know, do some research into what you are accusing people of doing. The law doesn't exist to blanket protect any kid that goes on the Internet to troll people and misbehave. There is some responsibility towards not provoking people and making an honest effort to disengage. My oldest son is slightly younger that you, and we have a simple solution to protecting him - he doesn't go on Internet forums and his time on the Internet is strictly supervised. I doubt very seriously your parents would appreciate the way you act on here.

It's a shame we have so much hateful negativity in the world. The grouchy, grumpy ones above should learn a thing or two from my family.

skylanderskids is now becoming to DarkSpyro what Amy's Baking Company is to Kitchen Nightmares..... Dude you need to just chill out and realize not everyone on the net is going to like you, your videos, or for that matter your parenting techniques. (nor is everyone going to hate them) Gamemaster is a parent (as anyone on here can tell you) and you do sound rather cocky and arrogant going off on others "educating" them for when they do become a parent if they aren't already. Yes, I am a parent already.

No, it is nothing of the sort. You really need to go check out the post on Gawker yesterday if you think this is anywhere in the remote vicinity to that fiasco.

That's a joke, right? Making his kids happy, would be to give them the Glitter Hot Head they surprised them with, that they wanted to open. However, that guy decided to think about money over his kid's happiness, so as soon as he revealed the surprise to them, he got onto her for not understanding why he wouldn't let her open it.

Why surprise a kid with something, only to crush their spirit by saying, "Sorry, kiddo, this is worth money. You're not opening it, despite it being a surprise for you?"

That's called a bad parent right there, and I don't care how judgmental I'm being about it. Only a pathetic parent - in my eyes - would value a product's obscurity over their child's happiness.

You are funny guy, I take it you are not a parent. Let me teach you something real quick, so when you become a parent, you can thank me.

Here is a scenario. Candy, my son loves candy, he'd eat it all day long if we let him. So, when I tell him no candy and he doesn't listen and I take away the candy I bought for him, CRUSHING HIS SPIRIT (lol). He is now sad, right, but I did it for a reason right? The right reason.

So, if you couldn't understand that, let me explain it in skylanders terms, my children, young enough to not know about collectors items, NOW, understand about variants, they should be kept in a box, like our Stone Zook video, no one wanted to open it, they are COOL with them being in a box, BECAUSE I TAUGHT THEM, thats what parents do. Once again, you're not a parent I take it. So if I only cared about money, (lol, very funny again) they wouldn't have opened over 80+ skylanders in their lifetime, instead I would of kept them all in the box to resell them later, right?

So, now that I made you look silly, you should either apologize or quit making yourself look even sillier.

smilie Have a great week sir! smilie

Assumptions are the mother of all **** ups my friend. I have not one, not two, but three kids.

Austin turned 11 on the 13th, My oldest daughter turned 7 on April 9th, and my youngest daughter will turn 4 on June 11th. So, yeah...

No need to explain to me about my kids knowing what collector's items are. Both of my oldest understand MY - track like a VCR for a minute "MY" - variants are mine alone. I never show them "MY" variants when they get home. They just happen to see them hanging on my wall.

However, your story is different. You surprised them with the box, by telling them you were going Skylanders hunting. They were happy. It makes me sick to my stomach that your daughter got so happy, and in an instant, you told her no. You put a price on something and your daughter's happiness wasn't worth it.

Again, I said this in another topic, but when my son and I found our only store bought variant (Gold Chop Chop), I bought it for him. I could have easily said, "Hey, buddy, it's mine. I bought it. That's my 200 to cash in on." Instead, I handed it right to him, because Chop Chop is his favorite Skylander, and he said, "I want to open it." I said, you know that thing's worth money right? He said, "Yes." But then he said, "I don't care. I want to open it." I then simply said, "Tear that sucker open."

He valued his enjoyment more than money, while being aware of its collectibility. Why? Because not all of us humans are so money hungry, that we need to hoard whatever in hopes to cash in later on.

Face it, you surprised your kids, only to give them one of the two things you got for them. You value money, not your kids. You can make any excuse for it, but it is what it is.

If I surprise my kids with any future variants, like you did, that product is theirs to do whatever they want with it. I'm not gonna say, "HEY, KIDS! I got you this. Oh, by the way, you can't open it. I am hoping to cash in on it, or hoping you will in time." Kids aren't greedy like 99% of the humans on this rock. Most adults could stand to learn something from the children on this planet, and maybe they would see the bigger picture in life.

In the end, though, you trolled your kids hardcore, like you make videos that hardly hold any relevance to Skylanders. The videos on your channel paint a picture that is like a person who can't keep their head on straight and mellow out. If it isn't doing goofy things like making Red Thumpbacks, it's making up faux box art for Swap Force. The videos are just everywhere.

That's not the point, though. You had a box fall from wherever, and you surprised your kids with a toy they couldn't open, but wanted to. In my eyes, teasing a kid in that capacity is just wrong, so my advice to you, as a fellow parent, is to be a better parent. Cherish your kid's happiness, not the fortunes you THINK you stand to gain in the longrun from owning a Glitter Hot Head. It won't be worth spit later on, but it was worth seeing if you can cash in later on at the expense of your daughter's happiness, and you jumped onto her to boot.

Absolutely pathetic.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you here. Have you seen their Facebook page? His videos are EXACTLY what they want. Kids getting excited about Skylanders and doing goofy things. They aren't interested in in depth videos showing the minor details and all four sides of a new figure. How many pictures of Skylanders shrines with packaged figures have you seen them post and how many cakes, kid's drawings and pictures of small collections have you seen? Every other post is like "Hey look at Josh's great collection" and it is of like 20 common figures on a mat, or "Which Skylander is different" with some obvious difference, or some cake with a Skylander stuck on top.

I appreciate the time and money you have invested, your collection is astounding. But, it will NEVER be anything other than a mild curiosity to them. That's why individual employees send you their personal figures and they get a package from the company and a tour. I know you would love to be featured by them and brought in for a full tour, but you won't get that. If you want it then next time you make a video feature your kids in it playing with them. When marketing a kids game you tend to want to show kids playing with it, not adults obsessing over the tiny details.

@GameMaster78 i wanna see all your collections out of there packaging if you are really different from skylanderkids, because to me your hoarding so much skylanders not only for your kids but for yourself also, you sir are addict to skylanders and thats the fact. If i was your kid and i wanted every skylanders you have opened, i don't think you will open them and i know how kids get bored easily with toys like skylanders. So to me i think your collections of skylanders is for yourself mostly.

Good for them! I can't wait to see the videos. My son loves watching the SkylanderKids, and I, for one, like the "trolling" videos. It's satire, folks. I swear he's not actually trying to get anyone to believe that Red Thumpback exists. It's just a joke at the expense of all the freaking out that goes on in this community, and personally, I think it's a funny one.

the sealed Skylanders on the wall of his game room ARE his collection for himself, he's never stated otherwise. He has his collection and his kids have theirs. Would he be upset if his kids opened up his variants? yes, because they belong to HIM. Are his kids allowed to open variants that belong to them? again the answer is yes seeing as how his son did just that with his gold chop chop. You can let a child make decisions on what to do with their personal stuff AND teach them to respect those that belong to other people and the owner's choice at the same time.

Good grief this was bound to happen. The point is you can't please everybody as it has been said. So someone goes to TFB or they get a glitter hot head. One of the things I did enjoy about this is being able to spend time with family and friends over these things. Though I wish I had my own kids to share these with, siblings and friends are who I try to get for.

We all have our own stories and experiences that we share in these forums, and to say threads like this keep coming off spiteful when they shouldn't be because someone gets raged over what someone else is doing. If you don't like what they are doing ignore them. Everyone is going to approach this stuff differently. If you've seen when beenie babies were all the rage and all the other things dealing with toys were and such you'd know it's supposed to be all about the kids and being able to share these things with family.

Some people will like the videos that come out, to me I don't mind them because I can take a joke as some are good and some are well not my cup of tea. I really think at this rate swap force will be a blessing if it's the last one and I think at this rate it will be.

See what you said there? You said kids getting excited. You're right. He got his daughter excited for that Glitter Hot Head, but the very minute she said she wanted to open it and acted sad, he jumped onto her... on a video... on Youtube. How many people have the option to watch that video? Billions?

I have my times in the spotlight, but that's not the point. That was never my goal. If it happens, cool, if it doesn't, life goes on. The world doesn't revolve around Skylanders, I am just passionate about it.

I guess you've never seen any of the videos I've done on my channel? I haven't done any in a bit, but when I finally get some free time in life (when not trying to pursue a career cause I'll already have it), you better believe I will be doing indepth videos of sealed and opened figures. I didn't buy 2 to level down each path for no reason. Just wait. However - and to be blunt - his videos make me feel like I have ADD/ADHD and can't focus, because they are simply bouncing everywhere. Red Thumpbacks, faux art, splitting his children in half, as if they were Swaplanders, I just don't see where that screams info for potential customers doing research? That's the kind of videos I look for, when looking for Skylanders.

But again, my beef is with a father who values money and materials, more than his kid's happiness. To see a kid get excited (as you said), and then BAM, sad, makes me sad as a parent.

It's parents like him, that makes me look at this -

[User Posted Image]

and realize that both my son and I have our heads in the right place. We don't value cashing in. My son valued his Gold Chop Chop more than the 200 bucks he could have gotten by asking me to sell it for him, and I valued my son's happiness over the fact I paid 10 bucks and could have made a 190+ dollar profit, due to finding it in the store.

But, NOPE! Here I am, holding HIS Gold Chop Chop in my hand. He wanted to open the product I bought him, so I let him. If I want to cash in, in life, I will get off my butt and get a career - a real job. No need to dictate my son on what he should do with a potential 200 dollar + toy. Sometimes, money doesn't suppliment what really matters.

My kids don't need the ones on my wall, because they have a complete set of everything themselves. I don't know if you know me well enough around here, but with the first game, I bought 5 of each figure. 2 for me to open and level down each path in order to provide detailed information to fans and parents on Youtube/Facebook/Twitter, 1 to hang on my wall for the colorful packaging, 1 for my son's set, and 1 for my daughter's set. That's right. My son and daughter both have a complete set of SSA figures.

However, with Giants, I bought 4 of each. Same for the first 3 as above, and 1 complete set for my son and daughter to share, instead of them having a set of their own.

Same will happen for Swap Force. They will get a complete set to open whether they want it or not. The option is there for them to play with them if they want. If not, oh well, there's a set laying around. However, they never don't play with their landers.

At the same time, my sealed Skylanders were never bought with the idea of cashing in later on. I have a career for making money. I don't need to flock to toys in hopes they will worth something later on. Scalping is a pathetic profession in my eyes. It's silly and dumb, and if any scalper ever thinks they can make a living off it, or it will do anything more than just pay the bills, they're in extreme denial.

A career is what gets people seeing the world and being able to do what they want, not robbing toy stores blind in an attempt to lure desperate parents who couldn't get to them first. They can die with a filthy conscience and their love of money for all I care. I'm not the one they have to meet and answer to when they're maggot snacks.

I bought my sealed Skylanders, because I appreciate the art by I-Wei on them. That man deserves some major props, and the best way to show respect to him, is by displaying his art on my wall. Said art just happens to have figures inside.

Hexblazer]@GameMaster78 i wanna see all your collections out of there packaging if you are really different from skylanderkids, because to me your hoarding so much skylanders not only for your kids but for yourself also, you sir are addict to skylanders and thats the fact. If i was your kid and i wanted every skylanders you have opened, i don't think you will open them and i know how kids get bored easily with toys like skylanders. So to me i think your collections of skylanders is for yourself mostly.

the sealed Skylanders on the wall of his game room ARE his collection for himself, he's never stated otherwise.

As you said "for himself" so basicly it isn't for his kids, mostly for himself which most of his collections are, and also skylanderkids mostly have there skylanders opened compare to GameMaster78 which most all of them aren't even opened, more like hoarding all the skylanders and not giving other kids a chance to get them, poor kids there dreams are broken right GameMaster78? I know for sure GameMaster78 dreams isn't broken.

Yeah this topic probably needs to be closed.

Gamemaster, I've backed you up many times in the past. I don't think you are a bad guy, but you are really coming off like you are green with envy. So you opened a Gold Chop Chop for your son, ok great - what he did with Hothead doesn't make him a bad guy or his kids deprived. He could have handled it differently, but if you are going to sit here and claim you are super parent that has the 911 on perfect parenting, well you lost me.

What I keep thinking about is this:

It's insane to think there are some people out there who have spent some serious money on this franchise, and they're not invited?

It isn't the first time you have said something similar, nor the first occasion (chrome spyro, Arbo, etc.). You have an impressive collection, but take a step back. Buying four of every figure does not mean you are more deserving of special treatment. You never mention yourself specifically, but the wording you use obviously suggests it (as much as you deny it). It isn't a contest to see who can spend the most money on them. Those kids and their Dad may not be your cup of tea, but a lot of people like their videos - and they are far more representative of the image Activision wants to portray than a grown up guy with a room turned into a Skylander shrine. Just visit the Facebook page and look at what they post. And by the way, they have seriously hooked you up. You have gotten at least three very rare figures, a signed poster and you were mentioned on an interview with them.

If you want to express your dedication, open all of your rare figures, like t7gga did and not just one. That's how you commit to a game.

Jealousy and envy... is what turned us against one other and turned this topic to ruin...

I saw it coming a mile away. I may not have been here long, but I already have noticed any topic involving the SkylanderKids ends up turning into a giant flame fest against them. That's why I stayed out of this for so long. I knew the only thing I'd have to say would end up being mean and spiteful.

I must agree with GameMaster on the topic of opening variants. The figures were to sent to them, the kids, for them to do as they wish. If they wanted to open I say only a fair warning of its value should've been given along with an "are you sure", but hey, what do I know, I'm only 19. If I got a variant, I'd probably open it. All chase figures I have of another series are opened and were played with and (still are) loved. Why shouldn't I do the same with Skyalnders? Though I'll admit if I somehow got an Employee Prism Break, that'd stay boxed.

If u don't like him, his kids, or his vids dont watch them! Okay he said his daughter can't open a glitter hot head, she didn't look horribly sad to me! At least they got something super rare like that! If I was given a glitter hot head and was told not to open it, I wouldn't care! At least I would have one! That's what matters to me. Be grateful for what YOU DO HAVE AND NOT WHAT YOU CAN'T HAVE!
