For those with opened ones...
I unboxed my Metallic Cynder and Chrome Spyro today, and noticed something interesting. The bottom of their bases have shiny edges. Where there is not paper covering the colour, hold them up to a light, and you will see shining.
This made me realise that this was their way of authenticating these S1 variants! It seems to be unintendedly since there are much better ways they should've gone with it, plus I don't expect that Frito Smash or Glownado have notably different bases, but my question is this- do Silvers/Golds also have shiny-base molds? This may finally be the (now basically useless) way of validating between official ones or repaints.

Unboxing them doesn't reduce their value to that of a regular figure. Opened ones still fetch at least half the price on eBay. So, it's more like 150 dollars, and the money has already been spent anyway, so what's the big deal? Unboxed variants are fun.

This is why to the suprise of my mom, I torn apart the packaging of my Svetlana and would probably open a Toy fair Chop Chop if I got one. I know for a fact that if I got a Dark Spyro single, I'd open it.

All of my chase minimate figures are unboxed too, granted most were purcahed said way, but they were purchased to be played with, not to look pretty in a box.

The only ones I left sealed are a Legendary Trigger Happy, a Warnado, a Zap Triple and a Dark single, but those are because I get more nostalgic value from leaving them closed, anyway. I already have those ones opened, and the boxed ones are mementos in themselves. I would rather have maximum fun from mine- wether fun is to have them opened in reach or to hunt the elusive finished boxed set is subjective, but to me it's the former. After all, if I was worried about my $100s spent losing value, why would I open my regular set?
